The Space

Welcome to your home away from home! I have a welcoming, charming, quiet, large home for you to enjoy. It's very peaceful here. My house is on a street that gets virtually no traffic, and the houses are somewhat far from each other.

Ideal location for easily getting around and walking to lovely neighborhoods like Reed, Hawthorne, Division and Woodstock. Very close to bus lines.

Safe, quiet, charming neighborhood in inner SE Portland. Just 5 blocks from shops, Trader Joe's, Open Space Cafe, Starbucks, restaurants, Walgreens, Reed College and a nice park. Also near a beautiful wooded walking/running path around a creek adjacent to Reed College, and The Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. 20-minute drive or bus ride to downtown.

***** CAT ALLERGY ALERT: I have two cats. They are not allowed in the bedrooms but the severely allergic may have trouble in the rest of the house, though I keep it very clean and the cats are outdoors a lot. *****

People of all diversities and ethnicities are welcome here. LGBT-friendly.

You are encouraged to utilize the entire house during your stay. You'd have use of a full bathroom ON THE MAIN FLOOR (not in your room) with a bathtub and shower. It's just for you, or you'd share it if there are guests downstairs. Usually there are no additional guests (except in the summer),

Available are 3 bedrooms, all very separate from each other. This listing is for the huge, bright furnished upstairs room. My other listing is:

We are 2 blocks from the #17 bus line (goes downtown and east of here) and 5 blocks from the #75 bus line (goes north/south on SE Cesar Chavez (aka 39th Ave). Easy connection to MAX trains.

My house is nicely furnished and inviting. Eat a meal at the large dining room table, complete with a view of the peaceful yard and the trees beyond. Or sit outside on the nice wood deck and watch the squirrels and cats play (not with each other though). :)

My two "Cat Ambassadors" will greet you and socialize with you. Teddy, the grey one, says almost nothing but will welcome you when you come home and sit on your lap if you let him. Cleo, they tiny striped one, has a delightful little squeak, talks a fair amount and likes to be petted.

I'm looking forward to meeting you! Non-smokers only, please

  • Deborah was a great host. Welcoming, helpful and generous. Her house is in a great location - near a great running path that runs through a beautiful wetland area.

  • Having booked the wrong weekend at another airbnb home, I found a computer and logged on and found Deborah's listing about four blocks away. It had separate rooms for my friend and I, and she accepted us immediately. The house was perfect and she was generous and easy to be with. I highly recommend this listing.

  • Great residential location near Reed College. Deborah was very warm and accommodating!

  • My husband and I had a two night stay with Deborah. The neighborhood was quiet and near the Hawthorne District and Reed College. The room was clean and spacious. Deborah was a gracious host and helped us find our way to a number of places.

  • My family and i found ourselves in Portland unexpectantly when my mother became ill and had to spend time in hospital here... We stayed here with Deb for 2 weeks. The house is nice and clean and comfortable to be in. the garden outside is really nice too... its in a good area and is close to a few different shopping/restaurant areas.
We would stay here again for sure!

  • We were only there one night, but enjoyed our stay! Deborah allowed us to choose a room, and we happily did. It was comfortable, large and very quiet. Our particular room had a rollaway (other rooms, standard mattresses) but it was very comfortable.
Deborah was very welcoming, showing us her home. She has a great garden, and sitting out back of her home is very comfortable.
She provided a self-made continental breakfast, which happened to include eggs from previous visitor.
Deborah is engaging in conversation (go MSW!), and even helped my wife try to solve tomato plant problem we have at home.
We wish Deborah well, and recommend her to people who appreciate intelligent conversation, an included breakfast and an interesting neighborhood..

  • We didn't spend much time at the house, but it was a lovely home base during our brief stay in Portland! Deborah was a gracious host, and the upstairs room was very comfortable. It's a nice neighborhood, too -- we enjoyed walking around the Reed campus.

  • If you need a place to stay in Portland, I would highly recommend staying with Deb! Two friends and I recently stayed with her and had a wonderful time. Her home is warm, welcoming and spacious, and Deb was more than happy to answer our questions and recommend good restaurants, sights, parking, etc. Her cat, Teddy, is quite the little co-host, and we rather enjoyed his presence, as well :) Deb is friendly and helpful, and our overall stay was fantastic. Thanks again, Deb!

  • I slept well. The home is convenient to a bus route that runs late and drops off a few blocks away and also near the Hawthorne shops. Deborah provided tips about the area.

Hi! I'm from the Bay Area originally and lived in SF for many years. Now I live in Portland, OR. I have a beautiful, quiet, furnished large 3+ BR house with hardwood floors in Portland. I'd love to do a trade for part of the winter with someone who lives in the SF Bay Area. I love children and animals. I have a cat who sometimes travels with me, but not always. My home is also available to be rented or shared. I'm a quiet, responsible, mature woman, late 40's, a homeowner. Flexible, excellent communicator, relaxed and warm. I've had many roommates before. Non-smoker, almost no alcohol, and no drugs. I'm a musician and singer but usually don't travel with any instruments.
