Having travelled extensively and using using Airbnb on several occasions we think it's a great way to stay in a city benefitting from local knowledge.
The house might not have the most modern decor but it has character and charm, it is clean and comfortable and it has a great location and easy parking.
A little factoid: a former Mayor of York Phillip Booth used to live in this house.

Our house is the corner house and this was taken from across the road. That's the city wall on the right. You can walk all the way to the railway station on top of the wall
Wonderful room in a great location, convenient parking and the house is well set up to accomodate guests. Jelle was very helpful and when we left something there kindly posted it back to us for free! Would definitely stay here again if we return to york.
Jelle left very good instructions and was helpful and accommodating with my arriving late. Room clean and just as described.
Nice house and host. Jelle has given us very clear directions on how to reach the house. He provided a guide book in the room. The room was beaurifully decorated with paintings of Van Gogh. It seems each room has a theme. There was tea, coffee and milk, and a kettle in the room, so that guests can help themselves with some drinks. Two bathrooms next to each other on the same floor, very convenient.
Jelle was very thoughtful he lend us tickets to York Minster. He has asked us to leave tickets in the house as the other guests did because tickets in York are sold as annual passes.
The room is big and there is 2 bathroom. Jelle is very nice host. He let me use the York card to goto many museums and interest things for free or discount, Thank you very much!
We had a great stay at Jelle's house. Unfortunately he wasn't there when we arrived, but it was no problem because he prepared everthing (keys for the house, some broschures about York, even an iPod in the house to call him via FaceTime & to say hello).
The house and the neighbourhood were exactly like it was shown on the pictures. The city with its nice pubs and restaurants is within walking distance and Jelle had a few great recommendations for breakfast places when we met him the next morning.
Very recommendable place for visits @York!
Great location for exploring York, right next to the ancient city walls. Quiet at nighttime and jelle offered us free tickets to some attractions and good suggestions for sightseeing which was helpful. Appropriate value for the money
