The space
This has been a local favorite studio ("The Tree House") in the oaks for our family and friends for many years. Walk four blocks to the beach and partake in the Friday Night Fisherman and Farmer's Market (4 to 8 pm, April to October) for plenty of food, happy taverns, wine tasting, entertainment, and dancing at the beach. Private deck and secure covered carport parking. The main bedroom has a queen bed, kitchenette, and bathroom. The entrance room has a single bed/sitting spot, TV with a privacy blind between the two rooms. The bathroom is small, especially the shower, but larger than an RV bathroom. Close by great restaurants, happy taverns, and wine tasting, the best beach on the coast, active marine life (sea otters, harbor seals, and sea lions) up close and personal, with several scenic hiking/walking trails at all levels of difficulty nearby. The host will have suggestions with hand-drawn maps for great things to do and visit from Monterey to Santa Barbara that only locals know about if interested. There are 34 stairs to climb. We also have our home, "Mid-Century Design close to downtown" in San Luis Obispo with Airbnb and our new listing "Avila Beach amongst the oaks, Ocean 5-minute walk". The creek is across a street which on weekends can be busy with traffic. The Treehouse is on a steep slope with a Tri-plex above that includes another Airbnb rental and a duplex below with very minimal interaction with the tenants.

Where you’ll be

Avila Beach, California, United States

Avila Beach is a gem and the most protected beach in the area with its southern facing beach protecting it from the prevailing North/West wind & fog. Friday night's Fisherman and Farmer's market (Spring to Fall) is very popular and is open 4 to 8 pm - closed for 2021. A trip via the kayaks or trolley to the Old San Luis Lighthouse is a must. Many shops and restaurants can be found on the beachfront and the third pier.

John is a life long farmer whose family has been continuously farming in California since 1850. He grew pears, apples, asparagus, and tomatoes (among other crops) throughout California for 35 years and vine ripe tomatoes in Mexico (near Los Mochis) for 3 years. He was in the sustainable/organic vineyard, winery and tasting room business (Salisbury Vineyards) for 18 years in San Luis Obispo County and sold the family operation in 2015 but can point you in right direction for local wine tasting and other great interesting sites.

During your stay

You will be in an area of the hill and trees that is secluded from direct host interaction and nestled in between a private triplex apartment above and a duplex below which helps block much of the afternoon traffic noise from the road below during the busy summer season which is not a problem the rest of the year. Avila "rolls up its sidewalks" when school starts until the next summer! We can help with tours and for suggestions of local activities.
