It was so realxing after two weeks in hot Hawaiin beach areas to be for a couple of days in the cooler Volcano area. We really enjoyed the fresh air and the green nature there. Karen decorated the place beautifully, everything fits together. Also the kitchen was full of yummy breakfast stuff (milk, coffee, tea, fruits, bread, cereals, water, snacks...). The whole apartment was very clean.
The place is located in a quiet neighborhood close to Volcano National Park, so we usually spent the day in the park, returned for tea, then went back into the park to see the lava crater glow in the dark.
Karen's home is in a beautiful location that is even closer to the park entrance than I expected. The layout of the bedroom and bathroom is so well-designed that you can tell a lot of thought and attention to detail went into it. It was such a nice, cozy place to come back to after a long day of hiking. The selection of breakfast foods was great, and you have everything you need to heat up food or make a snack. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is excellent. Overall it's a perfect place to use as a base for exploring VNP!
Karen's studio was clean, cozy, and well-stocked with comfort items to make a perfect base for visiting Volcano National Park area. We so appreciated the serene setting, covered patio, beautifully decorated room, and chirping frogs after our day of exploring and hiking. Her yard is surrounded by rain forest and she's created a sweet home in a private, lush clearing. Mahalo, Karen!
Like most first time visitors to the Big Island, my boyfriend and I were set on exploring Volcano National Park. What we weren't set on was camping in the park or paying extra to stay in an expensive hotel. Enter Air BnB! We found Karen's home on Air BnB and picked it for its close proximity to the park, as well as its private location. Our room was very private, with its own entrance, with a spacious bathroom, bedroom, and side room with a mini fridge (that came stocked!), and all kinds of little amenities. It also had some DVDs and a TV, perfect for late nights as the rains poured down outside. Absolutely wonderful house and a gracious host. We never ended up meeting Karen, but she did a great job with keeping the room clean and stocked.
This place is great. It is well situated if you want to explore Volcanoes National Park. You have a lot of privacy, and the guesthouse is spacious. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends!
We arrived cold and tired after exploring all day to a beautiful home. Our private entrance opened to reveal a huge, warm and cozy (tons of soft blankets and comforters) bed, a table and chairs and gorgeous bathroom. There was also a closet area and a miniature kitchen with everything you didn't even know you might want! From popcorn (and movies) to tea, even hot cocoa! Then there was fresh fruit in the fridge with bagels, cereal, yogurt and more for breakfast. Everything about the place showed such thoughtful care. It was immaculate too!
Karen's good advice before we even arrived was so helpful. Pointers on what to pack and where to go we're great!
It was better than any resort! If you are lucky enough to stay here you will be guaranteed a good trip!
After a very long journey from Australia and in desperate need of a shower and sleep, we could not have asked for a more comfortable and peaceful place for our first stop in Hawaii. We spent 2 nights here in the middle of March and found that it was an absolutely fantastic place to base yourself from for the Volocano National Park. Karen was a very considerate and friendly host and the detail, care and love that she has put into creating Dancing Ferns is noticeable as soon as you arrive. Everything you could think of was thought of and the King size bed was to die for! We were sad to be there for only 2 nights, we could have slept a week straight in that bed :) We both appreciated the thoughtful breakfast, the real coffee and warm welcome. We will recommend Karen and her beautiful accommodation to everyone. Mahalo Karen for a wonderful stay, we wished we could have stayed longer!!!
It's a shame to only be able to use five stars because Karen and her home rate at least ten! What a beautiful home and location, and every little detail has been thought of, from water to snacks to incredible breakfast treats! If you have a choice of places to stay, make sure you book with Karen!
Huge, warm comfortable bed after a wet cold drive in was exceptional. Large bedroom with all that we required - storage, hanging and placing space. Delicious breakfast.
Good directions to the property.
