Great stay in Ollantaytambo. Room was clean and host was very helpful. We left very early in the morning to catch the train to Machu Picchu so they packed a breakfast for us to go.
Very cute and comfortable place in Ollantaytambo. Stayed only for one night and was very pleased. We were received with warmth and were provided with pertinent information regarding our stay and tour. The breakfast was so delicious!! Thank you Picaflor!
Experience at picaflor: booking was smooth from airbnb. Antonio was was quick to confirm room availability. He offered a taxi transfer from cusco to ollantayatambo for $45 and offered another day of tour for $75. So I booked them with him. However, when I had some questions regarding the tour and needed his help and opinion on how to get machu Pichu tickets, he did not reply at all. So in my mind I thought he just wanted to book the rooms, so he can make commission and didn't care about anything else. That's fair since he was in business to make money for his B and B and was not obliged to offer suggestions or to help. So I cancelled both services.
When we got there at night, the place was a bit hard to find, even with a local guide helping because the sign outside was not lid. There was a light outside the place but it was not next to the picaflor sign so you can easily miss it. We checked in and the lady asked for our immigration paper stub along w the passport. We had no idea we had to have the immigration paper so she made a big fuss about it so that didn't make a good first impression. Antonio never said anything about needing those documents.
The place is well decorated, very cute and warm. There was hot water, soap but no shampoo or conditioner. Although it looked nice, the bed was not clean. I found 5-7 pieces of hair on the sheets, as well as a dirty yellow spot. We asked the lady to come change the sheets and she came only with one sheet for the bed and was ready to cover up everything while we insisted she should change the pillow cases as well as the sheet w the comforter. The next day, before we left, she asked the maid to come out and scolded her in front of us. No discount, free service or any other offer was made. Just a simple "sorry."
Wifi is the speed of aol when it started. So basically that means my Tmobile service was faster. But this was the way for most wifi places in town, not just at picaflor.
Finally, breakfast is just tea, bread, butter, jam, olives and an egg.
So all in all the stay was not pleasant because of the uncleanliness of the bed. I would not stay at this place again. There are plenty of places to stay in ollantayatambo that are less expensive and seemed nicer. I think they should have offered a discount or simply not charge for the night.
You can get the entrance tickets to Machu Picchu online, we only provide the website page to get it:(website hidden)_gQ5vuoMPVjTWNDhzwzuNbNy1X1HZcUP0U6jr_u1DiXBoC7Rfw_wcB . All different shuttle services and tours through the Sacred Valley are paid directly to the driver, and we offer those services in order to make feel our guests comfortable and secure once they arrive to Picaflor Tambo.
Sorry you could not visualize our guest house signage, we have two signs, one before the entrance of laricalle street and the other in a corner of the square, close to the ATM.
It is very usual in all hotels, guesthouses in Peru to get photocopy of passports and migration card from foreigners guests at check-in, so we can keep it on file in case of supervision of a government entity.
Effectively we have been verified the yellow point on the sheet that didn't come out at moment of washing as well the two hairs that maid didn't observed and removed promptly when she makes the rooms in the daily routine. The host strongly recommended to housekeeping be more careful in washing and cleaning the rooms. Specifying that cleanliness is ours most important responsibility along with attention and care.
Breakfast is of complete satisfaction for our guests. However, we can not force them to consume everything we always offer as coffee passed, tea, milk, fresh fruit juice, olives, cheese, butter, jam and scrambled or fried eggs.
Indeed, there are different lodges in Ollantaytambo with different prices. In this case we didn't think to consider any discount offer, because for the guest satisfaction all sheets were changed again with another set of sheets. But we appreciate your opinion, we are always fully open to any comments. We consistently offer a personalized attention to all our guests, most of them value and appreciate our services, testifying mostly with their positive comments.
I had a great stay at Picaflor Tambo! The room was very clean and nice. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a lot of questions about things to do and how to get a taxi service and they were extremely helpful.
The one night we were there all the guests met for pisco sours in the kitchen area. It was nice to meet the other guests and have a place to hang out outside of our room!
I would definitely recommend this guest house to friends!
This is a nice place to stay in Ollantaytambo. Very easy to walk to the plaza and nearby ruins. The room was clean and cute, and because the town is an old Inca village, the stone walls are historic and very cool. Breakfast was very nice. I would recommend this location for a stay in Ollanta.
Picaflor is a nice guest house really close to the ruins, in a narrow street (so narrow that cars can´t get in), and very charming. At the street there is some water flowing like a small canal, it is really nice. The guest house is cozy and very clean, with a good shower, a good bed, good linen and towels, charming decor details. We stayed in 2 different rooms: for the first 2 days, a room on the ground floor, and the last night on the first floor. The first one was better. In the other one you can hear everything. Both had a problem: the doors had glass windows and the curtains were very thin -- not so good for privacy. Be aware in case you have lots of luggage: you have to tell the owner then she can contract someone to help. Although she wrote in her Airbnb page she would help with the luggage, when we arrived there, she said she couldn't do anything because her aid "was on his lunchtime". We had to insist: it wasn't just a matter of pushing suitcases for two or three blocks. The street is paved with cobblestones and that meant we would have to literally carry suitcases weighing 15 kilos or more.
Sorry you experienced difficulty with the luggage help and noise.
During the recent house refurbishment we have sought to preserve the Inca harmony with traditional building style, natural wooden floors and doors, worked stone, sustainable adobe walls.
We do have an active policy of contacting all our guests on their booking to offer our secure taxi service and help contacting us in advance. We do not have 24 hours porter as Hotels, we are a family guest house.
