About This Listing
Live like a local Los Angelino in an original Spanish Bungalow from 1934. Experience the thriving music, food and culture of South Los Angeles. Our home is in-between Hollywood, Downtown LA, Santa Monica/Venice and LAX, plus full of welcoming energy.
Welcome to the best hidden oasis in the central heart of Los Angeles!
We nicknamed our house "The Spanish Greens" for the lush garden and vibrant colors reminiscent of 1934 Spanish Revival bungalows. The unique character is in the home's original dark redwood floors, Spanish style archways, french doors melting the indoor atmosphere with the outdoors and original wood windows that capture plenty of daylight and cool breezes.
We are offering a modern, calming bedroom and private bathroom. The bedroom has a comfortable tempurpedic full size bed for one or two people. The large room is brightly decorated with abstract art and a wall of mirrors. The bedroom opens onto the relaxing garden and hammock in the backyard.
You have full access to the large modern chefs kitchen, WIFI internet, and free laundry and dryer. Make yourself at home in the colorful living room, among travel photos & available movies/TV shows on DVD. Or create an outdoor office by sitting on the patio to enjoy the warm LA weather. Or relax away the day in the hammock. If you come at the right time of year, you are welcome to pick the organic fruit or vegetables from the garden.
There is plenty of safe, free and convenient street parking directly in front of our house, if you have a car.
Interaction with Guests
This room is across the hall from our bedroom. If you need anything, we will be nearby.
We are "work-from-home" entrepreneurs. On weekdays there is a strong work vibe, and although someone is usually home, we may be busy during work hours.
We are quiet at night and appreciate guests who like both conversations and time to yourself.
Our lovely Spanish style house in historic Leimert Park is convenient to Jamaican Food, Soul Food, Southern BBQ, shopping, movie theaters, breakfast diners and beautiful Southern California historic architecture of the 1920s and 1930s. It's a quaint neighborhood with great soulful energy.
Leimert Park is a predominantly middle class African-American neighborhood and home to many known Hollywood artists and producers. The location is literally in the center of the city, between downtown LA, Hollywood and Santa Monica Beach/Venice or Marina Del Rey.
It is an up-and-coming place to enjoy the exciting diversity and urban life of Los Angeles.
Although this city is built for cars, this neighborhood, Leimert Park, is great for those traveling without a car as it's convenient to major boulevards and public transportation.

It is my first time staying in a bnb and it is proved to be a good choice! Shannon and MJ are very nice and friendly! It is also the first time travelling to US, Shannon and MJ are keen to provide very helpful information like where to eat and go shopping. My wife and I went to the places they recommended and had great experience!
Also, the environment is clean and comfortable and there is also a washer and dryer for free! That’s great value! The location is cool, very easy to find and convenient for going to downtown and attractions.
By the way, Shannon taught English in China for a couple of years and is able to speak basic Mandarin so I think it’s not a problem for Chinese people to communicate with her.
It's the second time I stay with Shannon and there is no doubt Shannon and MJ were great host, Shannon was super kind and nice, she offered us all the informations we need and she even speak pretty fluently Chinese! Which helped my mom a lot since she doesn't speak English.
MJ was quiet but super cool, she normally works at home so it's really convenient for us if we have any questions.
Their house was lovely and cozy, our room was clean and quite, and they have the most friendly kitties in the world! Such a nice co-host ;)
Anyway, it's really fantastic to stay with Shannon and MJ, everything was absolutely wonderful, I would definitely stay with them next time and I highly recommend you to stay with them
I feel so lucky to have found Shannon & MJ. I've stayed with them several times, and they've become friends.
I love their house, their three cats, the central location and Shannon & MJ's company. I always feel so welcome.
I really can't imagine a better AirBNB experience!
I love the place! Shannon and MJ were great hosts - easygoing and they had lots of interesting stories to share, too.
#3501 is also quite accessible to other areas of LA (especially if you don't have a car and need to travel with public transportation), which was exactly what I wanted.
I'm not a cat person, but Indy, Boris and Casey were very well behaved and they too made me feel at home :)
Shannon was awesome!! Talked with us about new food places to try and was always asking us about our foodie experiences and what we did and where we went!! Love Shannon!!

About the Host, Shannon
Hi and welcome to a my collective profile!
We have a passion for cooking and pursuing entrepreneurship. We are adventurous, travel enthusiasts and enjoy getting to know new people.
SHANNON: I am an entrepreneur with a knack for side hustles and big hugs. Traveling the world turned me onto SCUBA diving, photography, finding the least walked path and saying thank you with a smile.
JAZMINE (Host at Mid Century House): I am an actor, dancer and singer. I taught English in Argentina and know great places to eat and go out in Los Angeles.
MJ (Shannon's Fiancee): I am a success coach for women in their 20's. I always know where to find a great live performance or novel nightlife event.
SHAUN (Shannon's brother): I am the guy who loves cooking, taking apart computers to make them faster and being outdoors. I am a technology start-up consultant and high school teacher.
Collectively, we enjoy talking about this awesome city of Los Angeles where all the dream-chasers culminate and creativity is everywhere.
