Live like a local Los Angelino in an original Spanish Bungalow from 1934. Experience the thriving music, food and culture of South Los Angeles. Our home is in-between Hollywood, Downtown LA, Santa Monica/Venice and LAX, plus full of welcoming energy.
Welcome to the best hidden oasis in the central heart of Los Angeles!
We nicknamed our house "The Spanish Greens" for the lush garden and vibrant colors reminiscent of 1934 Spanish Revival bungalows. The unique character is in the home's original dark redwood floors, Spanish style archways, french doors melting the indoor atmosphere with the outdoors and original wood windows that capture plenty of daylight and cool breezes.
We are offering a modern, calming bedroom and private bathroom. The bedroom has a comfortable tempurpedic full size bed for one or two people. The large room is brightly decorated with abstract art and a wall of mirrors. The bedroom opens onto the relaxing garden and hammock in the backyard.
You have full access to the large modern chefs kitchen, WIFI internet, and free laundry and dryer. Make yourself at home in the colorful living room, among travel photos & available movies/TV shows on DVD. Or create an outdoor office by sitting on the patio to enjoy the warm LA weather. Or relax away the day in the hammock. If you come at the right time of year, you are welcome to pick the organic fruit or vegetables from the garden.
There is plenty of safe, free and convenient street parking directly in front of our house, if you have a car.
Interaction with Guests
This room is across the hall from our bedroom. If you need anything, we will be nearby.
We are "work-from-home" entrepreneurs. On weekdays there is a strong work vibe, and although someone is usually home, we may be busy during work hours.
We are quiet at night and appreciate guests who like both conversations and time to yourself.
Our lovely Spanish style house in historic Leimert Park is convenient to Jamaican Food, Soul Food, Southern BBQ, shopping, movie theaters, breakfast diners and beautiful Southern California historic architecture of the 1920s and 1930s. It's a quaint neighborhood with great soulful energy.
Leimert Park is a predominantly middle class African-American neighborhood and home to many known Hollywood artists and producers. The location is literally in the center of the city, between downtown LA, Hollywood and Santa Monica Beach/Venice or Marina Del Rey.

I had only 2 nights in this beautiful hidden oasis, as I had to cancel one night.
But Shannon has been very nice about that.
It's been very peacefull and confortable, especially the bed, after a day walking through that very Grande LA!
Shannon and MJ had good recommandations, and it was nice to meet them!
I will recommand that place if you wish quiet nights and enjoy the little patio !
Shannon & MJ put in little touches to make you feel like you've come back to a friend's place. From the Welcome Home sign, to the super well-stocked breakfast selection, they've put in effort and thought to ensure staying at theirs is an enjoyable and relaxing experience. I had a chance to chat with them a few times during my stay, and they're lovely & friendly people. They were very accommodating, and I'd like to thank Shannon in particular for being so responsive & patient with my messages and requests :)
The place itself is great; it's a big house, with lots of space, and is very tidy & well kept. The living room is huge! And it's also where the three beautiful cats usually hang out. I had a great time in their company, haha. They're more than happy to be around humans, and love chin scratches and pets.
The house is located a couple of streets behind the main boulevards, so it's shielded from traffic commotion and noise, but it's still very close to public transport ( 5 minutes walk). There is construction going on on the roads at the moment to build new Metro stations, which affects driving routes a bit (and may add a few minutes to your travel time), but it's not a big deal. I didn't really get chance to explore the neighbourhood as my business was elsewhere, but I walked from the bus stop to the house on a late Friday evening, and it seemed OK.
Overall, a delightful place to have stayed at! I'm very glad to have done so, and would recommend this to my friends if they're visiting LA.
I had an awesome stay at Shannon and Mj's place, they were super friendly and helpful ! they left tons of maps for me to use, gave the best suggestions of places to visit and were really helpful on giving directions on how to navigate around the city :) The room was lovely and clean - big comfy bed and bright windows. Super close to many buses and the expo line really easy to get to from the airport too. Amazing hospitality and beautiful room. Thanks for everything guys !
Never having used Airbnb before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but Shannon and MJ did everything they could to make me feel welcome. The room is great, and Shannon has a wealth of knowledge of things to do and see around the city. I have to say though - I like cats, but if you don't, be warned that these are some of the most -affectionate- cats I've ever met, and one of them will try to cuddle with you if you let them.
Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better host for my stay in Los Angeles. I arrived home only a little while ago and I'm already wanting to go back.
Good place and room, and convenient.
Host very very friendly, and sweet!!.
And have super cute cat will receive her guest ^^
That's an amazing time with Shannon and MJ! They are so nice and so does the cats in their house. Strongly recommend!
Shannon and MJ were absolutely wonderful hosts and made my first Airbnb experience an amazing one. My wife and I got along very well with them and it'd be hard to believe we were just strangers meeting for the first time from the internet. They were very warm and welcoming and had excellent suggestions for places to go and things to do. Even though my wife knew some already as she's from the LA area, a lot had changed over the past two years. My wife and I adored their cats and they definitely seemed to reciprocate. If I look to visit LA again I'd definitely be sure to check them out again.
