Nestled in a redwood forest, this private entrance room has a queen bed, full bath. It is the perfect retreat for wine country access and Occidental biking and hiking.
The room is steps away from an outside hot tub, deck, and creek.
In the room, there is a private bathroom with shower and toilet, and a refrigerator.
Free wi-fi and no television or cell service. Easy access parking. We are city dwellers who moved to the country so we could plant a garden and raise our child.
Things are quiet here. Birds, foxes and rabbits also share the property. We don't have any visible neighbors, and are surrounded by trees. Our driveway is 1/3 of a mile long, and we often take walks up it to visit the neighbor's horses.
We are close to Occidental (10 min), which has a few restaurants, two markets and a couple of shops. We are also close to Sebastopol and Sonoma County wine growers and wineries (18 min). Also nearby are Bodega (8 min) and Bodega Bay (18 min). Bodega is the town where The Birds was filmed, a great coffee shop and the local tavern, The Casino (not really a casino, just a bar that serves good food). And Bodega Bay has great whale watching, beaches, and hiking. Oh yeah, and we are about 25 min from Hog Island Oyster Co in Tomales/Marshall. We love to buy a bag of Oysters and shuck 'em on our deck.
On the weekends, the road we live on is filled with road bikers. They've found the little-trafficked roads with hills and beautiful scenery to be an interesting place to ride.
We provide bathrobes that guests can use to access the hot tub.
Hot tub, deck, room equipped with shower, toilet and refidgerator.
Interaction with Guests
We provide our guests with as much privacy as they desire.
Our neighborhood is quiet and our neighbors remote. We share a driveway with one neighbor but we have seen them like 10 times over the last 7 years.
You need a car to get around. We are remote.
Other Things to Note
The room has been remodeled as of May 2015 and we've put in a private bathroom and shower along with a refidgerator in the airbnb room.
We don't provide use of the main kitchen. We are house full of food allergies and kitchen preparation of certain allergens can cause a world of hurt for our family.
No loud music or pets. Our one cat goes outside sometimes, but mostly stays upstairs and never ventures into the guest room due to it's separate entrance. No smoking. Clothing is optional in the hot tub, but only clothing optional while IN the hot tub. In other words, please don't walk around the property naked. You can use the Wi-Fi but no streaming allowed due to Satellite internet.
Wonderful location, really makes you feel like you are out living among the redwoods! Although you are off the beaten path, the place is a nice stepping off point for all sorts of activities. You can drive to the Sonoma coast relatively quickly or spend the day in the wine country just relaxing. The room is nice, comfortable, cozy, and has some useful amenities for cooking and making tea/coffee.
This gem of a hideaway is nestled on a ridge between Occidental and the Pacific Coast. That photo showing the hot tub is right on the money; but the view is even more spectacular than that. We settled into the *wonderfully* hot hot-tub and watched the shadows grow long across the valley of redwood trees that stretches off into the forest. At night, you look up and see bright pin-pricks of starlight.
The bed was comfortable; the room super-cosy beyond expectations, and we had hot coffee and strong showers to warm us up in the morning.
Minutes from Occidental, Bodega and Bodega Bay, you're nevertheless well off the beaten path with a welcoming pair of hosts who could be the poster-children for AirBNB.
Alissa and Jeff's place was wonderful! It's a bit off the beaten path, which was just what we were looking for. The hot tub is surrounded by redwoods and creates a wonderful view and relaxing atmosphere. To top it off, there is all the wonderful coffee and tea you can drink! Highly recommended.
Great place, lovely hosts!
Very quiet retreat in the woods. Perfect place for a weekend off the grid.
Alissa and Jeff greeted us upon arrival, showing us around and making us feel welcome. The room and outdoor space was beautiful! We loved the the views of redwood trees, especially from the hot tub. The room and surroundings were exactly as listed and shown in the pictures. We would definitely recommend staying here, it was amazing.
Alissa & Jeff have truly created a magical paradise. Their home is a design marvel, nestled amongst giant redwood trees and an organic garden. It has the homey comfort of the country with the convenience of town 7 minutes away. We loved the hot tub and close access to fabulous outdoor living. We can't wait to stay there again!
Beautiful and unique place in the nature. A little piece of paradise !!! Everything is beautiful, and we loved the jacuzzi experience in the forest :-) The bed is also very comfortable and the room lovely with view on nature. Alissa gave us good tips for our trip, really lovely stay, could only recommend it to everyone looking for a real getaway from the city. Would love to come back! Thank you

We live in Occidental, a stone's throw from the beach and close enough to Sebastopol to have access to Whole Foods. I like to think I live in the place most like Waimea, Hawaii, on the Big Island, but better since we are about an hour and 15 min. from the Golden Gate Bridge. This helps me get my City Fix when I need it. We have a garden, a hot tub, and tons of redwood trees and ferns.
