About this listing
Nestled in a redwood forest, a private entrance room with a queen bed, private bath & kitchenette, is the perfect retreat for Sonoma Coast & wine country access, biking & hiking. Limited cell phone service area, only Verizon works here. Very REMOTE.
Nestled in a redwood forest, this private entrance room has a queen bed, full bath and kitchenette. It is the perfect retreat for Sonoma coast and wine country access and Occidental biking and hiking.
The room is steps away from an outside hot tub, deck, and creek.
In the room, there is a private bathroom with shower and toilet, and a kitchenette with hot plate, electric kettle, toaster oven and refrigerator. There is also a little seating area with two chairs and a table.
Free wi-fi and no television or cell service. Easy access parking. We are city dwellers who moved to the country so we could plant a garden and raise our child.
Things are quiet here. Birds, foxes and rabbits also share the property. We don't have any visible neighbors, and are surrounded by trees. Our driveway is 1/3 of a mile long, and we often take walks up it to visit the neighbor's horses.
We are close to Occidental (10 min), which has a few restaurants, two markets and a couple of shops. We are also close to Sebastopol and Sonoma County wine growers and wineries (18 min). Also nearby are Bodega (8 min) and Bodega Bay (18 min). Bodega is the town where The Birds was filmed, a great coffee shop and the local tavern, The Casino (not really a casino, just a bar that serves good food). And Bodega Bay has great whale watching, beaches, and hiking. Oh yeah, and we are about 25 min from Hog Island Oyster Co in Tomales/Marshall. We love to buy a bag of Oysters and shuck 'em on our deck.
On the weekends, the road we live on is filled with road bikers. They've found the little-trafficked roads with hills and beautiful scenery to be an interesting place to ride.
We provide bathrobes that guests can use to access the hot tub.
Hot tub, deck, room equipped with shower, toilet and kitchenette.
Interaction with Guests
We provide our guests with as much privacy as they desire.
Our neighborhood is quiet and our neighbors remote. We share a driveway with one neighbor but we have seen them like 10 times over the last 7 years.
You need a car to get around. We are remote. Please note that cell service is spotty around here. The only provider that has access at our house or in the town of Occidental is Verizon.
Other Things to Note
The room has been remodeled as of May 2015 and we've put in a private bathroom and shower along with a kitchenette in the airbnb room. The kitchenette has a hot plate, an electric kettle, toaster oven, sink and fridge in the room, along with pots, pans, plates, glasses and utensils.
The only cell service provider that works at our house or in Occidental is Verizon. We do have Wi-Fi for connectivity but if you rely upon your cell phone for calls, the only service you'll get is with Verizon.
No loud music or pets. Our one cat goes outside sometimes, but mostly stays upstairs and never ventures into the guest room due to it's separate entrance. No smoking. Clothing is optional in the hot tub, but only clothing optional while IN the hot tub. In other words, please don't walk around the property naked. You can use the Wi-Fi but no streaming allowed due to Satellite internet.

We live in Occidental, a stone's throw from the beach and close enough to Sebastopol to have access to Whole Foods. I like to think I live in the place most like Waimea, Hawaii, on the Big Island, but better since we are about an hour and 15 min. from the Golden Gate Bridge. This helps me get my City Fix when I need it. We have a garden, a hot tub, and tons of redwood trees and ferns.
