Come relax in the heart of Constable Country at our retreat centre set in a tranquil courtyard just off the Dedham High Street. Wake up to the sounds of beautiful birdsong in our garden view king size ensuite bedroom. Ask about our yoga and meditation classes happening in the house on Wednesdays and Thursdays in June and July or book a 1:1 class to enhance your stay.

The space
The Tallow Factory is a converted 16th century candle factory with two guest rooms and a yoga studio. This listing is for our king bedroom which has beautiful views of Dedham Vale and a full ensuite bathroom. Please see our other listings for other guest bedroom. Both rooms can be booked for a family or group of up to 4 people. Travel cot is also available.

Dedham has everything you need for a relaxing getaway in unspoiled English countryside. Being in the heart of the village in a tranquil courtyard across from the church, you are steps away from a world-class gastropub and a lovely cafe, as well as walking distance to one of the country's best-stocked Co-op grocery shops, locally sourced butchers, pharmacy and more. In just a ten minute walk you can be down by the River Stour, and either retrace John Constable's steps along the banks or hire a boat and row to Flatford Mill, scene of the infamous Willy Lott's Cottage of "Haywain" fame. There are also tennis courts available for your use just 5 minutes walk away, as well as a safely enclosed children's playground.

In 2015 I moved back to the UK to open a yoga studio in my family home The Tallow Factory in the heart of the idyllic village of Dedham. Its a magical place which still looks very much like the landscape that John Constable painted in the 1700s. Ask me about private group and individual yoga classes.

During your stay

When I am traveling my assistant or housekeeper can be available if needed. Please also check the Dedham Retreats current offerings of yoga, meditation and ELDOA classes so that you know when the house will be shared with other clients and guests. Your bedroom is within a private wing of the house and the room has its own key. The kitchen is also within a private area and opens onto a patio and garden with outdoor dining area. So you can enjoy this part of house in peace while the classes are on if you don't wish to join.
