I love the beauty of the nature here. Eagles flying overhead, baby harbor seals resting at Lincoln Park, View of the Olympic mountains and Puget Sound. It's so peaceful and a quiet neighborhood.

The space

. My home has a fabulous Puget Sound view and is within walking distance of the outstanding, waterfront, Lincoln Park and the Fauntleroy Ferry (10 min. walk or 2 min drive), as well as several wonderful restaurants and a bakery. By car, downtown Seattle is 15 minutes and by C bus 25 minutes direct. The bus stop is 1-½ blocks from my house and runs every 15 minutes. The airport is just 20 minutes away. There is a bus that runs from the airport to Westwood Village - 5 minutes from my house and I can pick you up there if you don't have a car.

Your roomy ground level suite has it’s own private entrance. The L shaped suite includes a private bathroom with extra large shower, bed part of the L has 2 twin beds ( they can be pushed together), closet space and dresser, sitting room part of the L has comfy leather stuffed chair, table/desk, open storage unit and a microwave, toaster, coffee maker with included coffee and tea, French Press, auto hot water pot, blender, and small refrigerator. I provide coffee, teas, milk, fruit, yogurt, cereals, bread, jam, to get you started on breakfast. I also bring down filtered water as needed. The tap water is fine but chlorinated.
There's a hairdryer in the bathroom as well as extra towels, extra toilet paper, shampoo etc in the bathroom cupboard.
There is also a TV hooked up with Comcast just for you in your room, wifi, and street parking with my permit.
The room does have low ceilings, 6 1/2’, so keep that in mind but no one has had a problem to date. There are also 2 comfy stuffed lounge chairs outdoors on my common area deck which has a fabulous water view if you are inclined to spend a morning or afternoon at home relaxing with a good book. The covered entrance to your room has a comfy chair and small table for coffee outside in case of rain preventing the outside lounge chairs. The driveway up to your room is steep but there are also steps through the rock garden.

Nearby Lincoln Park is a wonderful recreational area. Excellent for walking, cycling, or running along the waterfront promenade There is an outstanding outdoor saltwater pool there open May 31-Labor Day, tennis courts, and walking trails through the woods.
You can also take the nearby ferry, to Vashon Island and the Olympic Peninsula or take the 1-hour round trip for stunning views and enjoyment.
West Seattle downtown, a 10 min drive, is charming as well and has many restaurants as does the famous Alki Beach area, a 15-minute drive along the waterfront.

One block away from my home is a local favorite restaurant, Endolyne Joe’s, which is open for all meals, as well as the Original Bakery where coffee and baked treats await your morning pleasure. Across the street is a good Mexican Restaurant. There is also a shopping center - Westwood Village a 5 min drive, also on the C bus line where there are restaurants, grocery store and various shops.

I love my neighborhood and it's close proximity to all the things I enjoy... good food, beautiful nature and recreation. I also love traveling, hosting guests and hearing your travel stories.

Guest access

There is free parking on the street but be sure to put the overnight parking permit I provide on your rear view mirror . Also, please park right in front of my house, or directly across from my driveway in front of the brick house. Other houses need their own parking spaces.

Interaction with guests

I'm often outside on the deck working on the computer or reading and enjoy guests coming up and visiting. I love hearing about their daily adventures around Seattle.

This is a lovely spot for a stay in Seattle! We especially appreciated Mardee's setup for breakfasts: cereals, coffee and tea, an electric kettle, a mini-fridge stocked with yogurt, juice and milk, a bunch of bananas, and a loaf of fantastic Seattle whole-grain bread. Perfect for us. She welcomed us on our arrival and we felt well looked-after. We spent most of our 4 day stay visiting our son, who lives in another part of town, but we did walk to a nearby restaurant one night following Mardee's suggestion and had a nice dinner. Also enjoyed walking down to Lincoln Park and in the nearby neighborhood, and would've used the excellent connection with public transit to advantage if we hadn't driven. Only regret was not finding time to enjoy lounging on her amazing front deck and looking across to the ferry dock, Puget Sound and distant Olympic peaks. Thanks again!!

Staying at Mardee's place was one of the best decisions we could have made while visiting Seattle! She always went above and beyond in making sure we had the best experience possible. Her and her son Eric offered suggestions and gave us all the information we could need to make public transportation feel that much more accessible. Also, drinking coffee out on the patio with that view was easily one of the best parts of the entire trip. We would absolutely stay here again!

I really enjoyed my coffee each morning and did not expect to have breakfast makings but that was great too. What a view!

Mardee's home was very cozy, clean and cute. She also gave us great recommendations and answered all our questions. My boyfriend and I loved how close it was to the bus stop, it made it so convenient to get to downtown! The deck was awesome and gave us great views! Stay at Mardees!

Awesome view, convenient location with multiple forms of public transportation to downtown and beyond. Mardee is generous host, anticipates the needs of her guest, goes above and beyond to provide snacks, juices, milk, coffee, tea, cocoa, cereal, bread and jam etc. It was nice to be able to grind fresh coffee beans! Twin beds very comfortable to sleep on luxurious linens. The room is spacious too! Mardee and her son are great host that respects their guests privacy!Really great value all around.... I would definitely stay here again.

In the past I had my own business designing and making one of a kind original fashions which I sold in Aspen and Vail Colo. I am also a teacher and now being retired, sort of, I travel the world teaching various courses. I love meeting people of other cultures, learning about them and making wonderful friends abroad as well as here. I usually stay in airbnb homes as well. My 2 grown children live in Indonesia and my daughter and husband just moved back to Seattle from Luxembourg with their 3 little children, my grands :-) . I love the outdoors and nature and am originally from the Rocky Mt area of Montana.
