The Space

Bed and Breakfast "Leonardo da Vinci" is a receptive family accommodation in Florence, near to Accademia Museum and Piazza San Marco. Our neighborhood is around Piazza Savonarola, a nineteen - first twentieth century establishment; our building was built around 1880 and it has his ancient furniture. In our family we have always attached importance to the eating, and so with the room, you'll have a real rich breakfast, with coffee, milk, tea, orange squash, yoghurt, fresh fruits, jam, bread, brioches, eggs... On guest demand, we can also prepare a tuscan dinner, with recipes that are in the family tradition since ever, as our family cames from a village in Florence countryside (they were farmers); some dishes are bread soup (zuppa di pane), liver small crust (crostini di fegatini), Roast "dead" rabbit (coniglio arrosto morto), tomato soup (pappa al pomodoro). On request I can give some cooking lessons, with choice of the menu. Dinner price euro 35 per person; dinner with cooking lesson euro 50 per person. Each lesson includes three recipes. During dinner, Tuscan wine is included. This double room "orange bedroom" (camera arancione), has a large bed and a shared bathroom, with towels, bathrobe, hair-dryer and toilet soap. Tv and free wifi are available. We can help you to book Uffizi and other museums, and also to suggest itineraries and things to do in Florence and surroundings.
Price includes all taxes, City of Florence tourism tax too.
Please notice that the room is a double room and it can accomodate only two persons; we can't accept extra people inside.

  • We love Carla!! My friend and I stayed here for one night. About a 10 minute walk from the Accademia Gallery, Carla's B&B is homey, full of personality and quite clean. It's full of books and art, and when we came home very late at night, we chatted with Carla's son for a moment about his favorite Italian author. Breakfast in the morning was one of our favorite parts of the trip. We didn't want to leave!!

Directions to the B&B were easy to follow. She called us a taxi the next morning, and gave us helpful directions to wherever we needed to go. Just wonderful.

    Merci Carla!
    Et peut être à bientôt!

  • Carla was very prompt in her responses to my inquiries. Gave very good directions to her flat. She had breakfast prepared when we arrived. We very much appreciate her kindness. She also called a taxi for us the next day. We had to open the windows to get some fresh air and left them open the whole night....but it was noisy from the traffic. We did not get any good sleep at all. If you don't have any asthma, breathing problems, or sensitive to old house smell, then this place could be for you. We like Carla but not her apartment .

    Response from Carla:

I regret that you dont like the room and you did not say it diring your stay. I find it is one thing incorrect. You stayed only one night in Florence and spent most of the afternoon and the evening in the room, so there was a time to move you in other room. You preferred wait to write a bad review. I dont know what kind of bad smell you feel in the room because there is not absolutely bad smell! The furniture are antique and not "old" as you say, the room is clean and, obvously, the bed linen too. Naturally luggages carried on the airplane, on the train etc. have a little bad smell. About the noise, the windows facing on the street, and, for this, are double glazed. But, I repeat, for all this, there was a solution.

  • Mama Carla is a sweetheart! She and her family made us feel like we were staying at home. Highly recommend the cooking lesson or dinner at the least. If you are looking to stay at an authentic Italian home with a helpful and knowledgeable family then this is a must. We had a great dinner with Carla and her son Alberto who treated us to some very tasty liqueurs and great stories.

  • Amazing host! We got spoiled! She is the sweetest lady! Made us feel so welcome. She showed us places to visit while there and even booked us a tour.
The breakfast was great. We were surprised to see eggs and have an unlimited amount of coffee!
She greeted us when we came home and was excited to hear about our day. The room was always clean when we came home, with fresh sheets, bottled water and snacks! She offers cooking lessons for a price, which we didn't do, but other guests told us how great it was.
Originally, we were only going to stay 3 nights but we liked Florence and Carla so much that we stayed for another night!

  • Carla is a great hostess and an outstanding cook. We took the option to have one of her Tuscan dinners one evening and were delighted with it. She also gave us a map and indicated on it, the tram and bus stops we could use for getting around. The room was lovely and sparkling clean as was the bathroom we shared with another couple. Great experience at the LDV bed and breakfast!

  • Carla's bnb is very nice! After entering the door you get this typical italian feeling, you won't get in a hotel.
Carla made us feel very comfortable and welcome, she's very caring. A REAL ITALIAN MAMA :-)
I highly recommend the original tuscany dinner wich you'll enjoy toghether with the family in a warm atmosphere. It mediates the italian flair like no restaurant in Florence.
Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely recommend staying here.

  • My brother and I stayed with Carla for 2 days in Florence, she is such a great host. She is very caring, and very helpful. The weather was really really hot, whenever we got home, she will prepare cold bottle of water for us. The room is big, you can chose twin bed or double bed. What I really like about her place is, its very tidy, clean and homy. Much better then living in a hotel.

Her place is only 20 mints walk towards the center, very easy to find and easy access to everywhere. Will defiantly go back again if I can. :)

  • We had such a wonderful stay at Carla's home. It is located very close to all the attractions in Florence, the breakfast is humongous and delicious and Carla and her family's hospitality and friendliness made us feel at home. Hope we can return someday!
