The family was very nice, kind, and helpful. I lived with them for three months and we had a lot of wonderful moments. We cooked and ate together but I was able to go in my room and have time for myself. Often, I went for a walk with the family dog, Google, in the nice and quiet neighborhood. The room and bathroom is exactly like on the pictures. I really felt comfortable. I really enjoyed living in this family.
We loved staying at Elizabeth and Jim's home! The house is located about a 15 minutes bike ride from Ybor City, which is really convenient as they gave us 2 bicycle to use so we had no trouble getting around. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked with essentials and even a hair dryer and hair straighteners! I see other reviewers said they had trouble sleeping because of the roosters, but I honestly only heard them once during a 5 day stay. Overall we had a great visit and thank you both! :)
Great place. Absolutely comfortable stay. Very friendly hosts.
My partner, Allison, and I had a great time visiting the Tampa Bay area. The rental was in an ideal location for our day trips to St. Petersburg, Orlando, and Sarasota, but the neighborhood itself offered few entertainment or restaurant options. Elisebeth, Jim and Pieter were fine hosts and willing conversationalists. Their house was as advertised and they helped make our stay even better by providing rides to and from the airport. Before booking with Elisebeth, we had noticed some reviews mentioning the rooster next door, neighborhood noise and the family dog, Google, but had not fully appreciated how these things might impact our sleep. Our first night we both struggled to get only a few hours of sleep. The next few nights of our stay improved as Jim and Elisebeth provided additional blanket options and a window fan for white noise. Overall, the experience was a good one and matched the rate.
We felt comfortable and welcomed from the moment we entered. The home is very cozy and it felt good to be in an eco friendly environment. Extremely clean. Great energy. We truly felt at home. I especially loved the fresh eggs from the chickens, daily. Elizabeth is an amazing artist. If you are seeking a peaceful stay with real consideration for the environment, and your choice to have solitude or interaction, this is a great place to come home to. (And if you love doggie kisses, their dog gives the sweetest)
Elisabeth and her family were very welcoming and kind. Their house was easy to find and well located to access the things I wanted to do and see in Tampa and the surrounding area. The room was very comfortable and easy to relax in at the end of the day. I didn't have an opportunity to spend much time with Elisabeth or her family as I was out having fun in Tampa but they were gracious hosts when I did see them. I would like to return and enjoy their home and their neighborhood again when I'm in Tampa again.
I came to Tampa for a unique reason and Jim, Elizabeth & Peter were very accomodating. The first night they were kind enough to pick me up from the airport AND make me dinner to welcome me. How nice! Later on in the week Jim & Peter offered to take me to a local hotspot that serves a variety of Filipino food so we could get acquainted. There dog Google is such a handsome pup and super sweet, grab a stick and play fetch and he'll be your best friend. Overall these are really lovely people that care about others and are big contributors to making the world a better place.
The house is old and adorable and they're doing great things here to make it even nicer than the previous owners. For the price this is a VERY good deal. I'd even go as far as to make it unbeatable. The room was perfect with 4 big operating windows surrounding it. Lots of great light. The bed was clean and comfortable and it was great having a desk. They also provided me with my own bathroom which was large and a bit of a luxury since i'm so used to sharing. Theres a spacious deck outback, a large dining table and a couch in the living room where you can work.
If you wanna get out on the town, literally everything is super close via a bike ride. Good food and one of the best gyms I've ever been too only 1.5 miles away if that. I'd say ditch your car and use one of the 2 bikes they have to lend you. But because the bikes are left outside they'll need maintenance. I suffered 2 flat tires and a loose crank during my stay. So before you take them for a spin it'd be wise to swing by the bike shop (5 blocks away from the house) for a $40.00 tune up and your transportation expenses are covered for the rest of your time here.
Finally there are roosters, a rowdy (but adorable) barking dog and very thin walls to keep you from sleeping in too late. If you're an incredibly light sleeper bring your white noise app. to drowned it all out. Otherwise you're in luck because Jim, Lisa, Peter & Google are a wonderful family and I'd definetly come again.
