Can Jim adopt me? The man is super awesome! I had a great time chatting with him during our stay. He was very friendly, helpful, and generous. Google provided me with some entertainment while getting some computer work done. This house is definitely an old Florida house, and while some people might be cautious of the neighborhood, it was really pretty safe. We never felt concerned about anything! Every so often the chickens make some noise, the furbaby tries to chat, or you hear the occasional car radio, but it was just like being at home. Thanks for an awesome couple of days!
Elizabeth and Jim are incredibly kind and helpful and my stay over the last 19 days was great. The room was big and spacious and the bathroom was equally big. They are a very well traveled couple and they know how to take care of guests. They have an adorable dog who never let anyone feel a moment of boredom. I felt as a part of the family, interacting with them, sharing meals and stories. Jim and I had a great time sharing stories and just being with them made me feel so rooted that it was a hark back to my childhood days. The focus on sustainability and organic products was an eye opener and I definitely learned to be more conscious during my stay with them. I visited in the peak of the summer so I immediately bought an extra fan until I found out that they have airconditioning. The airconditioning was used very well and it cooled the house down very quickly. I had the freedom to use their fridge and cutlery along with their washing machine. They also provided with brochures about Tampa, medicines for emergencies along with restaurant and grocery store coupons. All in all, I had a great stay and I definitely hope our paths cross again in the near future. Thank you Liz and Jim. You were wonderful.
The location of the listing was great, we brought our two dogs and there was a large field down the street to let them run and play in. I loved the bathroom, they did a fantastic job of keeping the house historic looking but they have definitely improved it. It's not in the best neighborhood but we felt safe walking around it, especially with our dogs with us. We never heard the rooster like others complained about, but that's probably because the fan in the window was loud enough. The listing says air conditioning but they didn't have it on. The first night it was probably upper 80s in the house and was really uncomfortable sleeping, especially for my dogs whose job is to work all day in the hot sun. I mentioned the heat the next day and Elizabeth's husband mentioned their dog got under the house and ate some lines so it was out of commission.. My only complaint is they didn't tell us beforehand and I wish I had known because our dogs are working dogs and with them having to pant all night really impacted their performance the next day. Not to mention my husband and I had to take extra cold showers just to keep cool. I will say be careful with their towels, I guess they don't have a washing machine and they tried charging us more than a nights stay after we left because they were dirty and we were accused of a towel being discolored, which is next to impossible seeing we didn't have anything with us that could do that. Overall, it's a great place to stay, I was sad that it ended on a poor note, but it's a learning experience for all of us I guess.
My stay at Elisabeth home was absolutely great! The room were very nice, the bed comfortable and the bathroom is very nice and clean. Elisabeth and her family are incredibly nice people, and their dog is one of the coolest you'll ever meet. Location of their home is great for getting around Tampa too, especially with the bikes they provide.
Would definitely recommend this place, and would love to stay there again if I'm ever back in Tampa!
Beautiful charming house with an amazing dog :) fantastic bathroom with a claw foot tub, everything very clean and nice. Thank you also so much for the eggs Elizabeth!
The family was very nice, kind, and helpful. I lived with them for three months and we had a lot of wonderful moments. We cooked and ate together but I was able to go in my room and have time for myself. Often, I went for a walk with the family dog, Google, in the nice and quiet neighborhood. The room and bathroom is exactly like on the pictures. I really felt comfortable. I really enjoyed living in this family.
We loved staying at Elizabeth and Jim's home! The house is located about a 15 minutes bike ride from Ybor City, which is really convenient as they gave us 2 bicycle to use so we had no trouble getting around. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked with essentials and even a hair dryer and hair straighteners! I see other reviewers said they had trouble sleeping because of the roosters, but I honestly only heard them once during a 5 day stay. Overall we had a great visit and thank you both! :)
