The Space

One room with private bathroom in a classic bungalow with a full size double solid wood vintage bed, wireless internet, internet TV, free parking of the street. The house is decorated with my original oil paintings.
We will make our most delicious family breakfast which can be organic and gluten free. We grow organic vegetables in our garden and we have chickens, a swing and a slide which make it very child friendly.
The cleaning is done with non chemical cleaners like Seventh Generation and Dr. Bronner. The washing machine is energy and water efficient also the washing detergent is non polluting.

Guest Access

Available amenities include television (no cable), wireless internet, air conditioning, heat ,washing machine and kitchen access.

Interaction with Guests

We share the living- and dining room and kitchen with our guest. It all depends on the guest what you want to do. You can share a meal with us or just eat at your room, it is all fine.

The Neighborhood

Explore the oak lined streets and the beautiful old houses.Lee Groceries a bar which serves the best pizza and chicken wings in town is in walking distance. We are members of the Tampa heights community garden where we grow organic vegetables. The Refinery and the Independent Bar are close by. Ybor City with the history of the Cuban sigar factories is very vibrant and interesting. Ybor City also has great food and lots of shopping. Saterday morning there is an art and design market.
Take a bike along the river to downtown and visit the Tampa museum of modern art, The Cube the Photography museum and the History museum.

Getting around

Biking distance from downtown and Ybor City. Public bus stop around the corner and a train station a few minutes ride away. We can provide you with a bicycle to get around. Only 10 minutes to Tampa International Airport by car.
When you are concerned with your carbon footprint as we are you might like to know that we have a Chevy volt to give you rides for additional payment.

Other Things to Note

The cold tap water at the kitchen sink is filtered and good to drink.

  • Both Elisabeth and her husband were very warm and inviting. We had a nice breakfast with them and talked about their garden and chickens. Not the best neighborhood in the world, but they are working hard to improve it and their home has a lot of character. Elisabeth also took us to a qui-gong class in the morning that was unforgettable.

  • Elisabeth and her family were wonderful. They were very welcoming and helped orient me to the neighborhood, where you must go a few blocks away to Lee's Grocery restaurant if you like craft beer and great homemade pizza. Ybor City and downtown were also nearby and fun, with thrift shops and restaurants, and it was an easy drive from the airport and only about 7 minutes to the conference center downtown. I would definitely stay there again, as these generous hosts made me feel so welcome. I feel like I made new friends. Do not expect a high-end B and B, though it's plenty nice and in a friendly old neighborhood with poverty around the edges. Expect plenty of space, cleanliness, kindness and maybe their central AC only in the heat of summer. I was there on a rainy June week, and despite being a Northerner, did not need AC. The fans worked fine, so fine that one night I turned them off. Elisabeth said she does not use pesticides or chemical cleaning products, and that seemed to be the case. She has a very friendly dog, so be aware if you are allergic, though they keep the dog out of the guest areas.

  • The family was very pleasant. They made me a late night dinner and breakfast. Wonderful fresh eggs from their own chickens. Scrupulously clean room and bathroom. The rooster in the neighbor's yard was a good wake up alarm. Of course, they do crow all day, so that could get annoying. House is in a great area and close to the airport.

  • This is a place where you can feel at home while away from home. Elisabeth, Jim and Peter are a beautiful family who are genuinely kind, warm, and caring. I felt like I was staying over at a good old friend's house during my stay. :)
The place is clean, spacious and tastefully decorated and maintained with care. Elisabeth kindly invited me to fun events like a local drum circle and Qi-gong session at a beach as well which made my visit so much more fun. This was by far my favorite airbnb experience!

  • Elisabeth and Jim are really friendly and giving hosts with a wonderful Eco friendly home. The bedroom and bathroom are both very spacious and nicely decorated and the location is great to explore Tampa.

  • Lies, Jim and Pieter are a wonderful, laid-back family who were extremely welcoming of us on our eight-day visit. Of our ten airbnb and (website hidden) experiences, this was the one where we felt most welcomed, like a member of the family. The bedroom was large, the private bathroom was huge, the wifi was fast, the space we were given in the refrigerator was more than we could fill, the conversations were fascinating - what a great experience! If we have to give any 'downsides', as we come from a very quiet neighbourhood and house where we can hear our heartbeat at night, is that there is some street noise, some highway noise, and a neighbour's rooster crowing. Also, since we were coming from the cold north, I found the nights a bit warm and sticky even with the large ceiling fan going, though my wife was fine; if I had asked, though, I expect that they would have turned on the AC.

  • Elisabeth and Jim's house was very convenient for my stay in Tampa. I stayed for a conference at the Tampa Conference centre and I was able to walk there, get the bus (stop very close to the house) and to cycle into the city centre on their bike which they kindly let me use!
The room is large, light and clean and the bed is comfortable. They are a really kind and friendly family who make their guests feel welcome.
I did find the room quite noisy, with the highway near by and a rooster crowing incredibly early in the morning, but after the first night I used the ear plugs provided I slept really well! I also found that there were not any good food stores near by, even in the city centre (although I think this is more a problem with Tampa than the house and Jim did offer to take me to the supermarket!) and there is a great pizza place just down the road.

  • This was my first airbnb stay and I was there for 6 nights. I felt comfortable with it due to all the terrific reviews. Also, Elisabeth sounded like such an interesting person with a background like no one I've ever met, so I looked forward to meeting her. It was just as I read and just as I had hoped it would be. The photos are also exactly what I found, as well. The room, the bathroom, and the house were very clean and comfortable.

Elisabeth was very nice, giving, and available for conversation and information. Her son Peter was very polite. I only got to meet her husband Jim the day before I left and he made himself available for good conversation, as well. I absolutely recommend this to anyone who is willing to reciprocate their gracious and respectful manner.
