REMAINING DATES IN JUNE REDUCED!
This charming, cottage-like condo offers all you need for a fun and relaxing vacation at the beach. The white sands of Siesta Key Beach are just a 2 or 3 minute walk from the cottage door. So is our lovely pool!
Villa #1 is great little gem on Siesta Key. It's a single-story, 1 bedroom, fully equipped unit with a garden patio out the back door. Everything is included from wireless internet to the beach towels! And everything is top quality.
This villa is ideal for a couple or a couple with a child. In addition to the queen- size bed in the bedroom, there is a queen- size, sleeper sofa in the living room.
Our lovely community pool and our private, gated access to the beach are literally a 2 or 3 minute walk from the villa door.
Restaurants, beach shops, a tiki bar, and even a fully stocked grocery store are within easy walking distance. There's a bike and kayak rental shop right across the street! And Jonny's Free Beach Rides will take you to the lively Siesta Key Village for more restaurant choices, shops and live entertainment. It's all right here: Lots of action or quiet beach walks with gorgeous sunsets!
Keyed access to our lovely, heated, salt-water pool. Open daily to 10 PM.
Coded gate access to Crescent Beach on Siesta Key. Both the pool and the beach access gate are just a 3 minute walk from the village door - about 300 yards.
Interaction with Guests
I meet and greet all my guests.
Villa 1 is located on Siesta Key in the "little south village" with shops, restaurants, and a grocery store within easy walking distance. Check-out the homemade ice-cream at Orange Octopus... or enjoy a tropical drink at the Tiki Bar!
You don't need a car on Siesta Key. Jonny's Free Beach Rides is one of the many beach shuttle services that will take you anywhere on the island.
But if you do have a car, your parking spot is right outside your front door.
Check in is 3 PM (with some flexibility on that) and check-out is 11AM.
No pets, no smoking.
The host canceled this reservation 31 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I am so sorry to have to cancel! Within seconds of Tammy booking this reservation on airbnb, another guest had already booked the same dates through another site, flipkey. In fact, there was a delay in the confirmation from airbnb. I cancelled within minutes of the booking and I hope that helps Tammy find another place and re-book. This is the first time that I've had to cancel any reservation a guest has made in the five years of renting our cottages. My sincere apology.
everything was excellent. Sue and her husban always very friendly and helpful. the apartment is very well located and equipped to enjoy typical beach holiday. Thank you.
Do NOT book this apartment unless you want to vacation in the middle of a parking lot with cars right up against your living room and bedroom windows. As an airbnb host myself, I take great pride in picturing and describing my place exactly as it is. I was SHOCKED and AMAZED at how purposefully misleading and deceptive this listing was. The living room photo, taken at one angle, does not reveal the 2 other walls of floor-to-ceiling windows with nothing but close-ups of the front end of cars and the main highway as the "view." In addition, people walk by throughout the day and night, so it feels like you are living in a fishbowl! We had to keep the blinds SHUT the whole time in both the living room and bedroom. It would have helped immensely to have blinds that descend from the TOP to at least reveal a bit of sky. Sue, the owner, seems like a very nice person so it is doubly hard to criticize this listing. But unfortunately, there is more bad news. The POOL is SHARED by ELEVEN other properties. Not units, but motel-like PROPERTIES consisting of multiple apartments. Their names are listed at the pool entrance. I can only imagine the chaos in high season of dozens of vacationers trying to grab one of the FOUR umbrellas! And the beach? You have to walk down the main highway, then down another road to a gate (I counted 405 steps) and then there's a narrow strip of sand between 2 hotels with some kind of drain pipe where you can put your chair! Fortunately we are beach walkers so this was not a big issue. I have never written a bad review, and it is not my style to harp over minor things in this apartment: a broken sink stopper and no light in the fridge are all very forgivable. But I was completely deceived and misled by both the photography and description of this apartment. Yes, it was clean and well equipped, but I did not travel all the way to Florida to vacation in a parking lot.
I was very surprised to read this review. It is not my intention to mislead anyone. When I book with guests over the phone I inquire if they've been to Siesta Key before and I always let them know we are not beachfront, and we are located on the gulfside of Midnight Pass Rd, the main road that hugs the coast. I will provide more photos to illustrate.
It is a 2 or 3 minute walk down a side-street to our lovely pool. You walk past only 2 houses and then turn onto a quiet side street toward the beach. Our beach access gate is directly across from the pool.
Our pool is shared with our greater association. It is never crowded. In fact, people have told me they've often had the pool to themselves. I've never heard anything but compliments about our heated pool, salt-water, open until 10pm, and beautifully maintained.
Our Association has deeded beach access between our two beach neighbors. It is not a huge space, but there is certainly room to place your beach chairs and "gear". And, of course, the whole 3.5 miles between seawalls of walkable beach shoreline is for all to enjoy.
Our unit 1 is the end unit, closest to Midnight Pass Rd. Many people enjoy having a designated parking spot outside their front door (and a garden patio outside the back door). Many also enjoy the large windows (2 of which are tinted and can't be seen through unless it is evening and you have the blinds up and the lights on).
I strive to provide everything I can to ensure our guests enjoy their stay. (Please note for future guests: The fridge light isn't repairable). I am truly sorry that this guest wasn't at all happy with her stay. It is difficult to assess what some find attractive and what others don't, when the overwhelming majority of our reviews tell us they are thrilled with the cottage-like villa, the garden patio, the easy parking, pool and beach access, as well as the proximity to shops and restaurants across the street.
Sue was very helpful and clear with all initial communications going out of her way to communicate with both myself and my husband in different locations.
However, this was the first time I was really disappointed with an Airbnb site. While the apartment does look exactly like the picture, it is literally 20 feet from the major street on the island. I felt the street was noisy including three dump trucks picking up trash at 5 am, 20 ft from the 2nd bed, outside the front wall and main window, which of course always has the blinds down. Did I mention that the laundry ares for the other units of this apartment are on the back of this site. There is no pretty or quaint place to be inside or out (we did not use the pool which look nicer and was on a quieter street) that is not close to the strip mall street. I was excited to share airbnb with a friend who had never used airbnb, but after this experience I doubt she will.
Unit 1, being an end unit, is closer to Midnight Pass Rd than our other two units. I am very sorry you experienced those dump trucks so early in the morning.
Our small laundry room, shared by 8 units, is located next to unit 1. You can not hear the washer or dryer inside the unit.
Many guests have commented how much they have enjoyed the garden patio, the pool and of course, the beach. I'm sorry you didn't find anything "pretty or quaint".
I did go out of my way to accommodate you, and I did agree to rent it to you for the one night, although we have a 3 night min. stay. (Regardless of length of stay, I pay our housekeeper the same amount of money and renting less than 3 nights is not generally economical). Perhaps a hotel stay would have suited you better.
Sue was easy and quick to communicate with. The picetures and description of the apartment was accurate.
The apartment was located directly against one of the main roads, there were no noice problems, but we had to keep the curtains closed. Lovely small back garden to enjoy the afternoon drink and barberque.
Sizewise the apartment fits a small family of 2-4 persons. It was a bit crowded for the 3 of us, would have been perfekt and roomy for only 2 persons. If the sleeping couch has to be used, there is no room left in the livingroom to move around it.
Well equipped kitchen, with much of the food basics we needed to cook. Lovely big bedroom with plenty of storage opportunities.
Ample bathroom, a bit worn with small antz on the sink. Not a big problem. All bathroom supplies was present, and then some. Luxury for travellers! Big and well working washing machine and drier in the back yard. Also a shed in the back yard with beach nesseseties like chairs, toys, umbrellas ect...
We had some friends in apartment nr 2 as well, perfect located next to each other. Wonderfull and clean pool and pool aerea, the kids spent hours there:) A five minute walk to the lovely beach. Restaurants, bars, stores right across the street. Only thing missing was a nice coffe shop:)
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay.

About the Host, Sue
Originally from Canada (and vacationing on Siesta Key since I was a young child, lucky enough to have family who owned beach houses here) I moved here permanently in 2009, to join my husband, Jim, whom I met on the same beach a few years earlier! I've thoroughly enjoyed the unexpected transition from college prof to vacation property owner/manager, and can't say I miss the snow and ice.
We have three great cottage-style condos, side-by-side, single-story, each with an inviting garden patio right outside the back door. It's just a 2 or 3 minute walk from the villa door to our lovely, salt-water pool and our private, gated beach access. We lived in Villa #1 for ten months and loved everything about the relaxed, beach lifestyle. It was great fun remodeling the three villas, trying to get everything wonderfully right for our future guests - and we hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
