About this listing
Two bedroom, full kitchen, private patio. Quiet neighborhood close to beautiful city park and many clubs, restaurants and cafes. A short walk to the French Quarter
Great two bedroom apartment in a perfect location, four blocks from the French Quarter and two blocks from the Frenchmen Street nightlife scene.
You'll be a short walk away from Jackson Square, the French Quarter and some great Frenchmen Street music venues, including the Blue Nile, The Maison, The Spotted Cat, D.B.A., and Snug Harbor. Many restaurants and coffee shops are also in the neighborhood. The new Frenchmen Street art market, located next to the Spotted Cat, is open Thursday through Sunday evenings.
This is a historic shotgun apartment that has been recently renovated. Amenities include: High speed Internet with wi-fi. Modern kitchen with gas range/oven, new microwave, coffee maker, cookware/dishware provided. Two TV sets with digital antenna reception (20 or so local channels available). Central air conditioning/heating. Newly renovated bathroom with shower is attached to the kitchen.
Both bedrooms have full sized beds with new mattresses. A "full" futon couch in one bedroom can be pulled out for a third bed.
A nice private patio is located in the rear of the property.
Several bikes shops in the neighborhood offer rentals by the day. Bike tours leave from Washington Square Park several times a day.
Guests are renting the entire apartment, so you have full access to all amenities.
Interaction with Guests
I'm often out of town while guests are staying. When I'm in town and hosting, I'm staying close by and generally introduce myself to guests and let them know I'm around if anything comes up. I'm glad to offer advice on good restaurants, clubs, and things to do in the neighborhood.
The Marigny is an ideal neighborhood, just a few blocks from the French Quarter, but much more laid back and easier to get around than the Quarter can sometimes be. The Marigny is directly next door to The Bywater, a historic neighborhood that's seen a lot of renovation since Katrina, with many new shops, bars, clubs and restaurants.
Four city bus stops are just around the corner by Washington Square Park. The street car line begins on Canal Street, about a 20 minute walk across the French Quarter if you don't want to take a bus. (check on status of street car first, they've been doing a lot of work lately)
Other Things to Note
My apartment is just two blocks from all of the great bars and live music clubs on Frenchmen Street. Many folks prefer Frenchmen to Bourbon Street. It's not so touristy (locals go out on Frenchmen, too) and caters to audiences who appreciate live music, especially New Orleans music (trad jazz, blues, R&B, funk). Some of the best musicians in the U.S. play on Frenchmen Street, every night of the year!
If you have any questions or anything comes up during your stay, please call or text me. Whether I'm in town or not, use me as your first option to solve any problems.
Please just treat my house as you would your own, and please be considerate of my neighbors. We all get along fine on our block, but noise out front easily travels through front windows, so please use the great patio in the back of my place as a smoking area and place to hang out, rather than the front steps. And also, please be careful about late night conversations outside the front door, some of my neighbors’ bedroom windows are close by.
Please don’t waste electricity, or set the air conditioning below 72 degrees. (it works great at 78!)
Please clean up well if you use the kitchen, and take out the garbage, new bags are under the sink.
And finally, under my lawyer's advice:
