  • The host was very accommodating and the place had everything you need. Its a big house with lots of rooms and lots of guests. Everyone we met was nice and we even found someone to share a cab with the next day to Sea World. The jacuzzi was warm and relaxing. We stayed in the garden room with 1/2 bath, which was a toilet and sink. You could also see airplanes go by above and its really close and cool to look at.

  • Its always a great experience staying in this wonderful house. The room we stayed in was very comfy, clean and charming. The ceilings are low so I would not recommend staying in this room if you are tall (anyone over 6ft)-but it worked for us! We have stayed here several times and never have any complaints! Love the charm of this place.

  • While I didn't meet Michael, I met Eric who was very helpful with checking me in, showing me the ropes and answering my questions. I didn't really have time to take advantage of the kitchen or the chill outdoor area and hot tub, but it looked very peaceful and inviting. It was an easy walk to Balboa Park and the Zoo, which were both fabulous. I really appreciated being able to leave my things for the day after checking out and being told I could come back to take a shower before my red eye flight after a long day of walking. One thing I learned about this part of San Diego is how close the airplanes are! Thank goodness there's an 11:30 curfew for planes at night, but they start early. There happened to be construction going on in the street as well, but I was up early anyways, so none of this bothered me. Bring ear plugs if you're sensitive to noise and if you're staying in the basement room. Overall, a very pleasant--though short--stay for my first airbnb experience. Thanks!

  • Just recently graduated from UC San Diego & moved back home to San Francisco, so the boyfriend & I needed a place to stay for a wedding we would be in town for. Found this place on Airbnb for its convenient location to the airport & downtown San Diego.

The whole house is really awesome - artsy with every crevice filled with pieces of art or plants. We stayed in the Garden Room downstairs which used to be an old wine cellar. There's a half bath installed in the room but multiple full bathrooms upstairs for you to choose from.

Guests have access to the full kitchen but there's also a lot of food nearby. A small backyard patio area & upstairs deck to relax on. Oh & there's a jacuzzi in the yard as well ;)

We had a great stay & were accommodated with any needs we had :)

  • I stayed there for 8 nights during a conference and absolutely LOVED it. Michael and Eric are the most wonderful and gracious hosts. Thank so SO MUCH for making me feel at home!! :) Not only is the place gorgeous with its outdoor area full of flowers, and with the artful decorations, creative room design, and high ceilings in the main building, but it really feels like a vacation with so much positive energy and love in the air. Michael, Eric and Rita put much effort into making guests feel at home, and are perhaps the most detail-oriented and perceptive hosts I've ever had the pleasure of staying with. The location is great for getting around (on Saturdays there's a farmer's market in Little Italy, just 15 minutes away on foot - check it out). Some advice for travelers: The bay neighborhood is closer to the airport, so bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper (I am and I was totally fine). Also note that the Garden Room has a lower ceiling than the rooms in the main building, so if you're taller than 5'10 (or 1,80m), you might want to take a room in the main house. Otherwise it's perfect, and soothingly cool inside even when it's hot outside. Also: there are interesting people from all over the world visiting. Make some new friends while you're there! Over breakfasts in the kitchen, I had the luck of getting to know a young physician from France who was shooting a documentary about Ayurveda and integrative medicine in the U.S. We stayed in touch and met in person again when she traveled to New York this month! :) So keep your mind open, have a wonderful trip and enjoy!!

  • I stayed in the garden room while visiting my brother, who is stationed at Miramar. The location of this house is unbeatable - within walking distance of Little Italy, the Gaslamp, Balboa Park and many other San Diego attractions. The house is so beautiful - you can tell Michael really loves it and takes care of it! It felt really good to come back to my room after a long day and feel like I was coming home. Thanks for a great first experience in San Diego; if I visit again, I'll definitely be staying here!

  • Several of us stayed here and walked to our convention center down past the gas lamp district. It was about a 1.5 mile walk, but felt safe and it was great to get the exercise. We could have taken a bus, and we took a cab a few times at night. This room was cozy. They put an extra mattress in so two of us could share it. Loved being by the jacuzzi and garden. We were able to have good bonding time as a team in the common areas of the house. Also loved getting the local recommendations about where to eat, etc. Thanks, Michael, Eric, and Nita
