Greenwood Hill Farm invites you to enjoy a nights stay on 125 beautiful acres of fields and woodland. In addition to a comfortable nights rest and a complimentary breakfast, you can enjoy walking the woodland trails, participating in farm activities (feeding animals & collecting eggs), star gazing on clear nights, observing our Finnsheep, pigs, goat and horse, or simply kicking back and relaxing. We are located 15 minutes from Alfred and 45 minutes from Letchworth and Stony Brook Parks.

The space
The "East Room" is one of three rooms listed.

While farm visits are popular with families with children, this is also an ideal location for adults to rest, restore, and relax. You can sleep in, meditate, read, meander, or exercise at your whim. Whether alone, with family, or with a few close friends, the peace and quiet are positively therapeutic.

We have two guest-rooms that contain a queen-sized bed, and a third guest-room that contains a single bed.

There is a (shared) bath across the hall from the guest-rooms.

All guest-accommodations are on the main floor and are wheel-chair accessible.

Please note:
• We can add an infant bed (Pack n Play) to any of our rooms.
• Children under two are free with paying adult.

A generous, self-serve, breakfast is included with the price of your room. This consists of coffee, juice, milk, fruit, toast, bagels or muffins, cereal, etc.

Additional family-style meals are available upon request at very modest prices. Your family can select an old-fashioned farmhouse brunch (with eggs you collect yourself) or one of our delicious home-cooked farm dinners, featuring local products (including things that you can harvest yourself). Most items are made “from scratch” in our farm kitchen.

We are best known for providing a comfortable, relaxed, environment and outstanding farm food.

Guest access
Guests are invited to share the house as members of the family. "Make yourself at home" is our number 1 rule. We love visiting with guests but we also are busy outdoors much of the day and tucked away in our office in the evening. If you need or want anything we are here to help, otherwise, you are free to enjoy the farm and home at your own leisure.

The family room is available for television and conversation and the kitchen dining table is available from playing cards and board games.

We can find some space in the refrigerator if you have snacks that need to stay cool. The kitchen is not available for guest cooking use, however, if you do not want to go out to one of our local restaurants, we do offer a dinner and hot farm breakfast option at a minimal additional price.

There is a washer and dryer that you may use (once we show you how).

You may help with "chores" (e.g., feeding animals and collecting eggs) if you wish. It is not required, but many find it fun. You also have access to the many hiking trails on the property.

House-wide wireless internet is available.

Other things to note
Greenwood Hill Farm is a non-profit organization holding 501(c)(3) status. This is a privately owned, family run, public park.

We do this because we believe that people ought to have access to this type of place and "real" farmers, generally do not have the time to have you visit. They also have safety and liability issues. Because our function is Agritourism and not Agriculture -- we have the time to focus on your experience (and on teaching you how to enjoy a farm environment safely).

We want everyone to have the opportunity to visit "Grandma and Grandpa's Farm", even if they do not have a grandparent who owns a farm.

All proceeds from the Farmstay/B&B go toward providing free agricultural education and entertainment opportunities to the public.

Peace. Quiet. Beauty. Rest. Friendship.

Our 125 acre farm sits at 2200 feet (the top of a hill), with lovely, pastoral views in every direction. If you have good eyes, you might spot a few other farms in the distance. The house is surrounded by gardens (flowers and edibles), pastures (occupied by friendly, fluffy, animals), fields (we grow hay) and forests (with a wide variety of trails).

This is a rural, area where everyone you pass waves and smiles. The assumption is that you are a friend, or you would not be here. The closest intersection (two gravel roads crossing) is about a quarter-mile away. Traffic noise, light pollution, air pollution – and all of the other things associated with city living are entirely absent.

If you are feeling energetic, we specialize in agricultural tourism and entertainment. Would you like to learn more about caring for alpaca, chickens or horses? Did you ever wonder why domestic ducks make terrible suburban pets? Are you curious about how a forest is managed for beauty, recreation, wildlife habitat and sustainable timber? There are so many opportunities to learn/try new things!

If you drive a few miles, you will discover a number of Amish communities. The faith attempts to preserve the elements of late 17th century European rural culture. They avoid many of the features of modern society, (like electricity and automobiles) and adhere to practices and behaviors which isolate them from mainstream American culture. They are an interesting and educational example of a healthy and strong sub-culture existing in this country.

Farther afield, we are within reach of the following as “day trips”: Niagara Falls, Seneca-Iroquois National Museum, Rock City Park, Corning Museum of Glass, Rockwell Museum of Western Art, Genesee Country Village and Museum, Stony Brook Park, Letchworth State Park, renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East and The Sacred Grove and other historic sites of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints (Mormons).

During your stay
This is our home, so we are generally accessible/available.

The house and grounds (125 acres of gardens, pastures, fields and forests) are big enough that you can have your own space, if that is what you want. If you wish to participate in farm activities – that is also just fine.
