There is a public bus system on Salt Spring and hitchhiking is an easy way to get around as well. biking is popular but it is pretty hilly here. People also ride/rent scooters. There is a car rental company on the island.
There is a one time cleaning fee of $50 if you bring a pet. We have one fantastic queen bed and a double futon in the loft. It's pretty laid back here and close to the main village so you can stroll into town for a coffee and look around at some art, small shops, boats in the harbour. The studio is near the main house but you still have lots of privacy because our outside space is on the furthest side away from the studio and we're pretty private people. We're friendly, but we're private. If you don't want contact with anyone that's fine with us. You can come without a car, our property is a couple minute walk to a bus stop, plus people also hitchhike here - a very acceptable mode of transportation still. Our place is semi-rural and we have a deer family that might poke their heads in your kitchen window. We don't have a lot of open green space because we are on the side of a mountain with big trees, but we have a big sunny patio and you can shoot some hoops too if you want. We are a good place for couples and maybe families with babies who want to take a stroller into town, or adults with teenagers. (we have 2 teenagers) Not so good maybe for small children who might need to run free outside. But if you tire them out at the beach it might work out fine. We are minutes away by car to the nearest ocean beach down a bikeable country road and close to a number of lake access points.
