Casa Diggs

Villa - Entire home/apt · San José Del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico

The Space

A villa with a stunning, sweeping view of the Sea of Cortez. Just a 10 minute drive from San Jose del Cabo...a safe and cozy Mexican town...and a 2 minute walk from an endless, deserted beach (where you may witness the hatching of turtles, or see a whale out at sea).

The house celebrates the outdoors with many windows and a verandah where meals can be enjoyed, and the house is in a quiet area with no neighbors left and right, although there are the occasional cows or donkeys that wander down the road. If you don't feel like cooking then a minute away is a delightful bar/restaurant where you can dine or sip a margarita with your feet in the sand.

Please consider that: My house is run on solar power, it uses no power from the grid, although it won't be apparent to you. Internet is available at the house. And lastly, all I ask is that you treat mi casa as you would treat yours. Gracias.

  • Based on the pictures and description, we were expecting a beautiful home on a hillside near a beach. When we got there, I was shocked at how grossly exceed my expectations were. Thinking you know this ocean view from the listing photos is like saying you know the Yosemite Valley because you saw it on a postage stamp. Within the first hour of being there we saw a pod of gray whales go by on their way back north with their newborn claves. I will never forget it. And once the sun goes down, you are left with an amazing view of stars and planets. I found myself quickly downloading one of those star viewing apps to confirm, yes, that is Mars. The location is easy to find, however you will need a car as it is about 15 min outside of town. Closer than a drive to town are some of the must-see's of San Jose del Cabo: Flora's Farm/Kitchen, the El Ganzo hotel, The Drunken Sailor, and just a few hundred feet down the road, Buzzards Bar and Grill. So here you have beauty and convenience, but you also have safety. I have been visiting Mexico since I was young, mostly in the California border region, and I have never felt unsafe. But pulling through a security gate on your way to the house will make even the most paranoid travelers feel safe. Jose and Placido, the kind security guards on duty 24/7, always greeted us with a smile and remembered our names after day one. On a short walk to the beach access next to Buzzards, you will see local fishermen heading out for a morning dive with their spearguns and swim fins. It's a beautiful stretch of coastline, but I would not recommend getting in the water unless you are an extremely confident ocean swimmer. Just stick to the beautiful pool at Casa Diggs. I honestly can not think of anything negative to say. Maybe the sound of crashing waves on the beach will keep you awake if you are a light sleeper, or maybe it will put you to sleep like a puppy near it's mother's heart.

  • I really can't add much to what others have said. Casa Diggs is everything we hoped for, and more! Peter's home is perfectly situated--20 minutes from San Jose del Cabo. It's close enough to visit the weekly Thursday eve Art Walk, yet a good distance from the onslaught of tourists. The setting is, indeed, magical. The outdoor area overlooking the private pool and Sea of Cortez is spectacular. My wife and I could not decide what time of day was our favorite because every moment was special. The house itself is roomy and beautifully designed . Peter certainly has an eye for details.
Judy, the manager, was very helpful and extremely personable. We forgot our iPhone 5 charger, so she picked one up for us the next morning so we did not have to interrupt our day with a trip into town.
This house is for people who want to get away from it all, and do it in style. If you are looking for excitement, go elsewhere. If you are looking for a private, undisturbed, gorgeous place to unwind, I cannot recommend Casa Diggs more highly!

    Ron,
I appreciate very much you taking the time to write a review, and such a well-thought one at that. Thanks for your kind comments. You are welcome back anytime. Best wishes, Peter

  • Staying at Casa Diggs was fantastic and well exceeded our expectations. The view is amazing and the house is bigger than it looks from the pictures. Situated in a nice, safe and quite area outside of San Jose del Cabo it is the ultimate place for relaxation and tranquility.

  • Probably the best vacation home I have ever stayed in. The pictures do not do it justice. It is just gorgeous, private and a wonderful get away. Peter, thank you!

  • Our 18 day stay was Magical! The views from the house are spectacular. The home itself is uniquely creative and casual elegant. Like anything magical, there are tricks to be learned.
Peter is always ready to communicate as is the neighboring manager Judy, who is one of the kindest, most helpful and caring people I have ever met.

  • Unique, luxurious, and private custom home. Looks better than the photos. Clean and well furnished with many towels and extras.

All assumptions were set aside in the building of Casa Diggs so you get nice features like an enormous master shower without walls and a kitchen countertop that could be measured in acres. I would recommend it as an all around excellent value.

For surfing, rent boards at "surf cabo" on the beach and be sure to have breakfast at agua in palmilla at least once. It is hot and tropical so expect bugs and geckos.

  • Casa Diggs is a surreal dreamy artists paradise! A short drive from San Jose Del Cabo down a bumpy rustic Mexican road takes you to this hideout. A view of the Sea of Cortez from every vantage in this unique house. The pool and deck are very private and offer covered refuge with built in couches, loungers and dining table & chairs. There are several sunning options along with an outdoor shower with the supreme view through the framed window. Book it, you won't be sorry. Couple things: pickup any groceries before hand, nothing is walking distance except the beachfront restaurant Buzzards which is Not open during the summer months. Everything you need for cooking is at the house and really is a great set up for a small gathering.

  • Peter's house is pure paradise! The house is larger than it appears in the photographs and there is no way to do justice to the view from the master bedroom unless you go there and see it! Which you should do. There's actually a great ocean view from any where you are in or out of the house. The kitchen is huge and we cooked all of our breakfast and lunch meals there. The patio is fantastic for card games and tequila after dinner. Even though we went in July, one of the hottest times of the year, we didn't use the AC, the ceiling fan in the master bedroom kept us cool, and the pool, which is lovely to lounge in, was a perfect 80-85 degrees :) The town of San Jose del Cabo is 15 minutes away with a large grocery store and nice little restaurants. We'd also recommend going to Flora Farms, the organic farm and restaurant 10 minutes from the house. My husband is an avid surfer and there are several surf spots within a relatively short (20 minute) drive. You can hear the waves beat down on the beach from the master bedroom (and casita) at night, which makes for wonderful sleeping. If you're looking for an incredibly relaxing vacation, look no further! Mucho tranquilo!!!

  • It was wonderful. Definitely worth the money! We were blown away when we walked in. I surprised my wife and she was speechless. The place is actually a lot larger than it appears in the photos. And the pictures make it look there are other houses right around it when in actuality there are no homes it for hundreds of feet in every direction. The kitchen seemed to every type of pot, plate, cup and utensil you could ever need.
