Hello, thanks for reading this.
Our house is situated in Didsbury, one of Manchester's liveliest areas with lots of busy bars restaurants and cafes within a short walk. The house is very close to excellent 24 hour, high frequency bus services to the city centre, universities and hospitals. Didsbury has now been linked up to the city's tram system. We are 3 minutes walk from the West Didsbury tram stop, which connects with the city centre via Chorlton. Although close to local amenities, the street is quiet and does not suffer from traffic noise.
We have three rooms that are listed on Airbnb. Two are large en-suite rooms and there is a smaller room, which is not en-suite but which has an attractive adjacent bathroom. The other rooms are listed under "Large Room good access city centre" and "Comfortable en-suite room, Didsbury".
The room you are viewing is our smallest room. It is equipped with a small wardrobe and has a UK standard sized double bed and a small table. The bathroom that goes with this room is large and modern and has a bath with a shower over. We do not offer weekly rates on this room as we like to give longer stay guests the additional comfort of the larger en-suite rooms. If you are looking for a stay of one week or more please submit an enquiry for one of the larger rooms and we will offer a favourable weekly (website hidden) is available in the lounge and wireless broadband is also available. A buffet style breakfast is included consisting of home made breads, cereals, fruit and yoghurt but we are happy to provide a traditional cooked breakfast (£4.00 supplement), packed lunches and evening meals by prior arrangment.
You can see from our reviews that many of our guests have enjoyed our evening meals. We like to cook and we have a wide choice of meals that we can offer. All our meals are prepared from good quality fresh ingredients and all our sauces are home made. Ask us what is available if you are interested. Meals can be taken at the breakfast bar or in the dining room.
The house is well located for Manchester Airport, which can be reached by train or bus, and for the universities. Parking is on-street but safe and there is plenty of space.
We need to be advised in advance if guests wish to bring friends into the house.
Smoking is permitted in the garden.
Our kitchen is not available for guests to cook their own food as we prepare food every evening for guests and for ourselves.
I had the pleasure of staying with Bob and Christine for 2 days. I gave them very little notice and they were very prompt in responding to me which made my life 100 times easier. Although my stay was very short, I could not emphasise more how nice and helpful they both were. Bob was always available to make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of and we even shared a few jokes about my independence when I wouldn't let him make me tea! The room itself was extremely clean and cozy and I didn't need for anything while I was there. Lovely hosts that I look forward to visiting again if I'm in Manchester.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Bob. He was so kind to answer all of our questions about the neighbourhood and Manchester itself. Bob even suggested several places that is worthy to explore while in Manchester.
The room and bathroom were very clean and well-maintained.
Breakfast was really delicious, there were toast, cereal and yoghurt prepared. Christine makes her own bread while we were there and it was so delicious! Dinner was so lovely, Christine is a great cook and she prepared Thai Curry for us. It was really good.
It was a very hospitable stay and both my friend and I. We were missing home but staying with Bob and Christine felt like we were home away from home.
If you would like to experience living with a local and have a hospitable experience with great facilities, this would be the best option we would say :)
Bob and Christine were such lovely hosts, will certainly stay with them again should I be in Manchester in the future.
The guesthouse is within 10-15 min drive from the airport, and has frequent bus services to the city centre, costing only £1! The check in time was very flexible, and Bob always replied to our queries in a timely manner.
Our room was warm and cosy, with a comfortable bed and snug duvet. We had the room without the ensuite bathroom, but there was a well equipped bathroom next door, and we never had to wait to use it.
The room was quiet, even though all three rooms were occupied. We were able to get some quality nights of sleep.
Bob and Christine also serve up a lovely cooked breakfast, with quality ingredients.
Overall, great hosts, comfortable room, convenient location, highly recommended.
I like the room! It's neat and cosy. The toilet is very clean and they provide the necessary amenities.
Location's great! Very accessible! 5 minutes walk away from a Metrolink station, a direct bus away from the city centre, which takes around 30 minutes.
Bob's a very helpful host. He was there when I arrived and was more than willing to let me know where to go. Only managed to see Christine twice but all I can say is that she's a great cook!
Bob and Christine made us very welcome.
Gave us good information on where to eat and drink

I retired early (4 years ago) from a professional role in order to spend more time with my camera. The camera bit didn't really work out as I spend most of my time keeping house and looking after our wonderful guests. Christine works in admin. We live in a largish Edwardian semi. We are a very sociable couple and we enjoy the social life in our community. When she is not out at work Christine is the nice one who makes cakes, bakes bread and makes our guests feel relaxed and welcome. I do most of the meeting and greeting, preparing our guest rooms, fixing breakfasts, researching local information and all the other little bits and pieces that help to make your stay memorable and enjoyable.
We both love cooking (and eating) and we enjoy preparing food for, and dining with, our guests. We try to remove processed foods from our diet as much as possible and we follow the same ethos when catering for our guests. Most of the foodstuffs we use for breakfast are home made. The meals that we provide in the evening are all cooked from fresh ingredients.
Guests seem to enjoy our house. Our house is clean but It is certainly not the tidiest house you will have seen. There are usually a few bits of clutter lying around. Books, newspapers and grandchildren's art work are often sprinkled around the place. I always tell Christine that a bit of clutter adds atmosphere to a home. She doesn't always agree.
