About This Listing
Hello, thanks for reading this.
Our house is situated in Didsbury, one of Manchester's liveliest areas with lots of busy bars restaurants and cafes within a short walk. The house is very close to excellent 24 hour, high frequency bus services to the city centre, universities and hospitals. Didsbury has now been linked up to the city's tram system. We are 3 minutes walk from the West Didsbury tram stop, which connects with the city centre via Chorlton. Although close to local amenities, the street is quiet and does not suffer from traffic noise.
We have three rooms that are listed on Airbnb. Two are large en-suite rooms and there is a smaller room, which is not en-suite but which has an attractive adjacent bathroom. The other rooms are listed under "Large Room good access city centre" and "Comfortable en-suite room, Didsbury".
The room you are viewing is our smallest room. It is equipped with a small wardrobe and has a UK standard sized double bed and a small table. The bathroom that goes with this room is large and modern and has a bath with a shower over. We do not offer weekly rates on this room as we like to give longer stay guests the additional comfort of the larger en-suite rooms. If you are looking for a stay of one week or more please submit an enquiry for one of the larger rooms and we will offer a favourable weekly (website hidden) is available in the lounge and wireless broadband is also available. A buffet style breakfast is included consisting of home made breads, cereals, fruit and yoghurt but we are happy to provide a traditional cooked breakfast (£4.00 supplement), packed lunches and evening meals by prior arrangment.
You can see from our reviews that many of our guests have enjoyed our evening meals. We like to cook and we have a wide choice of meals that we can offer. All our meals are prepared from good quality fresh ingredients and all our sauces are home made. Ask us what is available if you are interested. Meals can be taken at the breakfast bar or in the dining room.
The house is well located for Manchester Airport, which can be reached by train or bus, and for the universities. Parking is on-street but safe and there is plenty of space.
We need to be advised in advance if guests wish to bring friends into the house.
Smoking is permitted in the garden.
Our kitchen is not available for guests to cook their own food as we prepare food every evening for guests and for ourselves.
The room is very clean and comfortable. It was a very nice surprise to have breakfast included. The room and location was just as described.
Bob and Christine are absolutely lovely hosts. When we arrived we welcomed into their home with open arms and invited for a quick dessert at the table before we tucked information the night which was fantastic! They had amazing advise about the area, wanted to hear all about our trip thus far and recommended what to see and what not to seeing our next stop - London. (thank you so much Bob for the advise to go to Hampton Court, we absolutely loved it and spent the entire day there!)
The house is on a very quiet street very close to a handy bus which takes you directly downtown. The breakfast was delicious, and the room we were given was absolutely perfect with a very clean bathroom, warm blankets and soft mattress. All in all I highly recommend a stay with Bob and Christine.
Great place! The room is clean and quiet, and has a beautiful view of the garden. Bob and Christine are very nice, and they even prepared breakfast for us. Hope I can go to Manchester again!
An excellent stay, all as expected. We didn't see Bob or Christine much but Francesca was very hospitable and helpful. The location was great with easy access by bus to the airport and the city.

About the Host, Bob And Christine
I retired early (4 years ago) from a professional role in order to spend more time with my camera. The camera bit didn't really work out as I spend most of my time keeping house and looking after our wonderful guests. Christine works in admin. We live in a largish Edwardian semi. We are a very sociable couple and we enjoy the social life in our community. When she is not out at work Christine is the nice one who makes cakes, bakes bread and makes our guests feel relaxed and welcome. I do most of the meeting and greeting, preparing our guest rooms, fixing breakfasts, researching local information and all the other little bits and pieces that help to make your stay memorable and enjoyable.
We both love cooking (and eating) and we enjoy preparing food for, and dining with, our guests. We try to remove processed foods from our diet as much as possible and we follow the same ethos when catering for our guests. Most of the foodstuffs we use for breakfast are home made. The meals that we provide in the evening are all cooked from fresh ingredients.
Guests seem to enjoy our house. Our house is clean but It is certainly not the tidiest house you will have seen. There are usually a few bits of clutter lying around. Books, newspapers and grandchildren's art work are often sprinkled around the place. I always tell Christine that a bit of clutter adds atmosphere to a home. She doesn't always agree.
