The proximity to the water and beach was a pleasant surprise, and the neighborhood is very charming.
The room was somewhat dated (mid 1980's) and a bit cluttered with fairly large furniture (very full!) but clean and in good repair overall.
Our hosts were mostly friendly and engaging, but didn't go out of there way. The house and our suite was pink, pink, pink. Wow. There was a fridge, microwave and dishes to help with snacks and a quick instant oatmeal breakfast. $10 per person extra for breakfast seemed like quite a bit - so we passed on that.
It looked as though every square inch of the home was in use (rented, storage or busy!) but we didn't really trip over anyone. The front hard had some seating areas, but there were somewhat overgrown and not overly comfortable. This was the only outside space - so plan on just getting a decent room, but not a lot of amenities outside of that.
Everything from the coffee maker to the tv worked well - except that we didn't seem to get very many channels.
We did have a misunderstanding on checkout time that caused some friction. We returned promptly from our event to be told that checkout was strictly observed and that our information was wrong. It's a good idea to double check that stuff to avoid conflict.
Overall we had a comfortable stay. We were left with the impression that this is a busy little house that provides an important source of income for Don and his wife who operate it. It seemed to be run slightly more as a business compared to many other BnB's we've stayed at from coast to coast - but wasn't a detractor. Everyone needs to make a fair income, and Don, his wife and the Pink house offered us good value overall.
Spent 4 days in the 'Pink Room' and would do it again. Hailing from California, we wanted to wind down and do some quiet time in Kelowna before Christmas. The bed had a fabulous mattress, and there was a large-screen TV and fireplace right across, and a very discerning collection of DVD's. The room was clean and the decor very pleasant, with thoughtful details like drying racks. A sparkling huge bathroom with the biggest tub I've bathed in, plus separate shower. A short path leads to the stunning waterfront, and the quiet, historic neighborhood is worthy of photographing. Don brought bread and jam our last morning. It was much better than we expected from the photo of the house exterior, and worth the money.
Great location and good value. The room was nice and big and was comfortable.
We just finished a 4 night stay at By the Bridge and were thoroughly impressed with the facility. We had 2 separate rooms, both were very clean, quiet and offered everything we needed. We booked through Airbnb and communication with Don (owner) was very simple and fast.
Trying to find a place in Kelowna for the August Long Weekend is next to impossible, so to find this place which is a 5 minute walk from downtown, 2 seconds to a residential beach and didn't cost an arm and a leg was pretty incredible.
The only caution we have is ask which room you are getting as the bathroom sizes/layouts are different. It wasn't an issue for us since we only had one person in each room, but double occupancy in the Yellow Room may not be ideal for some (a sink & shower were added in the corner of the bedroom, and the toilet is actually in the shower much like some small European/South American apartments). Other than that we loved this place and would recommend to anyone!
Don's place was great, exactly as described. Walking to downtown Kelowna was super quick, and he's close to major bus routes so it was easy to get around without a car.
Don's place is a nice and quite. There were no noises from outside and we slept very well. Make sure to bring your own toiletries, there was only soap in the bathroom. 15 minutes after the official check out time the owner knocked on our door to make we were leaving. I guess you call it efficiency, other airbnb places were more relaxed when it came to checking out.
Overall not a bad place.
