The best sunset in town, cosy rooms with balcony and amazing view, a shared house of worldtravellers, artists and scientists. Central location in a simple & peaceful community. Welcome to real Brazil!
This one is special! Staying in walking distance to the main touristic attractions (Barra, Campo Grande), with the possibility to stay at your own pace and discover Salvadors reality.
We have our house and a small cultural center in a very simple and low-income neighbourhood, right in between the most expensive districts of Salvador. We offer a million dollar view - and a reality check for openminded people.
The neighborhood is green, quiet, with direct sea access - a small urban community with a 200 inhabitants. But don't fear to be in touch with poor people!
Just around the corner, you'll find supermarkets, cultural institutes, theaters, language schools… Barra Beach or Campo Grande are just 10 minutes walk away…
there is a direct bus from the aiport, a lot of other busses in all directions… taxi to pelourinho is just 10 reais, direct bus to rio vermelho… You can come home late, as everybody knows each other - it's like in a village on the country side.
Our house has huge verandas, is open & fresh, the livingroom is a loft; and we even have a small garden! You can use / share the american kitchen ( low standard), there are 3 bathrooms in the house, we have a washingmachine and Wifi internet. All our rooms are very simple, but have what you need.
The luxury is the gorgeous view with the sunset in front of you, green spaces around the house, you hear the click clack of the sea and the chant of the birds…
But be aware: there's no TV, no Air Condition, Fans or Stereo-Sound, no standard furniture - we are community improvised…!
We are renting 2 guestrooms with small balcony facing Bahia de Todos os Santos short term.
You will share the house with artists and activists… we run a social and cultural center for the community.
Be aware that Salvador is a violent city - but our community is proud to be one of the communities with the lowest violence-index of Salvador - since 70 years!
we are looking forward to meet interesting people!

Interaction with Guests
how it fits - is important that everyone feels comfortable.
Vila Brandão (our community) is one of the best neighborhoods in Salvador - if you are looking for a real life exxperience! Located in between the most expensive and central areas of Salvador (Vitoria, Graça, Barra), it offers the feeling of a small village: 200 inhabitants, just a few houses near the sea, in the middle of a green aerea. Real Brazilian life, a bohemian mixture of fishers, working class people, artists, some students, some workless guys, a few strangers… teachers and dreamers.
We have a community "Mini-shop and instant food", a few bars and a lot of fresh fish and fresh fruits…
Airport Bus Stopp just on the square, a lot of busses passing by, taxi station
free city-bike station

We enjoyed the stay at Silvias place. The place has a wonderful view on the ocean and a big terasse. It is in a small favela in the middle of Salvador - and although we felt quite safe and comfortabel all the time! Silvia and her friend are so lovely persons and very very helpful all the time. Thank you for all the help. If we come back to Salvador, we deffinitly would com back!!
To be at Luana's place was a great experience, the house is really nice, with a direct view on the bay of all saints from all the rooms, this is a clean and quiet place too. Luana and her different friends gave us many tips on Salvador. The house is perfectly situated, near Barra and it's nice beaches. We'd definitely come back at Vila Brandão, a piece of paradise!
The views of course are amazing, I had little monkeys visiting me on the terrace and I did not feel threatened in the immediate favela neighbourhood.
Despite this, one night a neighbour was fighting with the bus driver and threw stones at him, so that was scary. As a single traveler I would probably look for something more 'conventional' next time, also because the house was quite empty and I was there alone a lot of the time.
It is really far from luxurious, and when it rained hard one night, water entered my room. But I did not really mind, I had a good few days there.
Thank you Hannah, I'm woundering if you would write about neighbours throwing stones with bus drivers in an other place, which is more "normal middle class". If you know Salvador, you should have noticed that Vila Brandão is really one of the most relaxed places in town… I feel sorry that you felt lonesome in the house, there are 3 persons living there. And sorry for the rain…
The listing is located in the midst of a small favela and the neighbors (specially the children) were very kind and helped us find the difficult to reach home. The place is shared by various people and is a nice place to meet other travelers. It is also centrally located. However, our room was very tiny and the breakfast was a bit overpriced.
Great experience in a typical brazilian neighbourhood. Silvia and Luana were so friendly and helpful. This place is perfect for adventurous people who want to discover Brazil in other way than the touristic place like hotels or hostels. The view was so amazing than I wasn't gone to beach haha. The breakfast was also wonderful but not included in the price.
It's not an hotel so you won't have the very stylish bedroom and all the confort but you will feel like home and meet other great people like you . Definetely worths it !
What an amazing space!!! If you really want to get the feel for Brazil I would highly recommend staying here. Beautiful view, natural food, great people, and lots of fresh air!
Silvia does her absolute best as a host to provide a lot of recommendations and is very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed sharing breakfast with other guests and hearing about her experiences coming to Brazil. You would never guess she isn't Brazilian! You will be very close to public transportation and many different things to do, yet still out of the way enough for peace and quiet.
Very safe, very unique. I will definitely return!
