Double Room in Victorian house. 2 minutes to Hackney Downs Station and under 10 minutes to Liverpool Street station. So the location is in a very central London position (Zone 2) and in the heart of the most up and coming area of London.
One stop fom Hackney Central Station is a couple of stops to Stratford, the home of the Olympics 2012.
The house has a rustic, curiosity- feel from teasures found in the many trendy fleamarket s and vintage shops in the area. Very nearby is London Fields where there is a heated outdoor swimming pool and Ridley Road Market where there are lots of ethnic food and fashions.
It is a vegetarian house, but easy-going and Bohemian, sharing it with a 23 year old young man and 45 year old, Heath, who is also an artist/ musician and two nice cats who live downstairs. We even supply ashtrays on request!
There is WIFI in the house so if it rains you can relax inside. But there's so much to do in the surrounding areas. if you like Art and Museums, therse the Museum of Childhood at nearby Bethnal Green, the lesser known, Geoffrey Museum takes you through the English Interiors through the ages and at Walthamstow you can see the home of William Morris (Arts and Crafts) .
On a Saturday or Sunday we like to go to the Boot fair (Garage sale) at a nearby School and are always happy with our bargains.
** The photo of the smallest room with a pot cupboard in it, is now being converted to a shower room/ extra bathroom. It's not quite ready yet but any day now!**
**One of our Reviewers has said the Hackney Downs station is not open on weekends - this was only prior to the Olympics.**
I had a great stay at Heath's place. Big room with a comfy bed. Transit was just down the street. Heath was great to chat with. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a place in London.
Heaths a relaxed person and his place is in a nice quiet street in Hackney. We slept really well here. Comfortable and totally (email hidden)ke yourself at home. You can make friends with Zipper the friendly cat too if you like. We can recommend this to anyone visiting this part of London.
Heath was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was bright, clean and comfortable (an added bonus was meeting Zipper the super-sociable cat) The house is very handy for public transport and it's only a short stroll to the lido and market at London Fields. I had a great stay and would recommend :)
Great place , nice warm atmosphere, relaxed and friendly people. A good rustic feel to the house, with sun all day in the front garden (if it shines).
Good area close to shops, pups and venues, with hackney downs station 1min away. I defiantly recommend. The room has a nice homely feel, a comfortable bed and a great little work space by the window.
Heath was my host and he was kind, friendly, made sure I had what I needed and then left me alone too, when I needed that. It was a perfect situation.
I took a chance booking a second stay before I stayed the first time, but it all worked out so well. The many positive reviews were accurate and a great help. It was nice returning to familiar territory. I'll definitely seek to book there on my next London trip.
Sylvia's house was very nice and beautiful! And her husband Mr.Herth was very kind man when we talked with him:) Their cats were very cute and amiable. We can use their maps of London. We passed the good time along our stay at their house. We want to stay again at their house.Thank you very much Ms.Sylvia and Mr.Herth!!
I really enjoyed my stay! The place is clean and comfortable and Heath was a wonderful host. What I hadn't realized when I booked was how very efficient it was to get into central London. There's the Hackney Downs national rail station just steps away that gets you to Liverpool Street Station in about 10 minutes (with your Oyster Card) where you can connect to the entire Undergound system, and several very nearby bus stops that do the same, a boon for me as there was a two-day tube strike while I was there. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely stay at Sylvia and Heath´s; the room was very clean, peaceful and really beautiful.
Our hosts were really polite and gave us all the information and facilities we needed. We are really happy, the stay was excellent! :)
Sylvia responds very quickly and gives great information in advance. Heath was a very flexible and easygoing host. No complaints on room and bath room, clean and good. Great location for those who want to explore more neighborhoods of London.
I will probably be back next time I'm in town!
