About this listing
Large and comfortable double room in an artistic, Victorian townhouse. Quirky decor and furnishings certain to enhance your London experience. Around the corner from Hackney Downs which connects to the city in 10 minutes
Double Room in Victorian house. 2 minutes to Hackney Downs Station and under 10 minutes to Liverpool Street station. So the location is in a very central London position (Zone 2) and in the Dalston area of Hackney.
Short walk to Hackney Central Station is a couple of stops to Stratford, the home of the Olympics 2012.
The house has a rustic, curiosity- feel from treasures found in the many trendy flea-markets and vintage shops in the area. Very nearby is London Fields where there is a heated outdoor swimming pool and Ridley Road Market where there are lots of ethnic food and fashions.
It is a vegetarian house, but easy-going and Bohemian, sharing it with a 26 Bodie (Son) and 48 year old, Heath, (father) who is also an artist/ musician and two nice cats who live downstairs. We even supply ashtrays on request!
There is WIFI in the house so if it rains you can relax inside. But there's so much to do in the surrounding areas. if you like Art and Museums, there the Museum of Childhood at nearby Bethnal Green, the lesser known, Geoffrey Museum takes you through the English Interiors through the ages and at Walthamstow you can see the home of William Morris (Arts and Crafts) .
On a Saturday or Sunday we like to go to the Boot fair (Garage sale) at a nearby School and are always happy with our bargains.
** The photo of the smallest room with a pot cupboard in it, is now being converted to a shower room/ extra bathroom. It's not quite ready yet but any day now!**
**One of our Reviewers has said the Hackney Downs station is not open on weekends - this was only prior to the Olympics.**
Close to Ridley road and Broadway Markets, Dalston night life and London fields.
Interaction with Guests
We are very welcoming hosts and enjoy meeting and conversing with our guests.
Dalston is a fun and vibrant neighbourhood with lots to do. If you have a keen interest in arts and culture this is the place for you.
Nearest train stations include Hackney downs, Dalston junction and Hackney central. Also there are many convenient bus routes for getting into the centre of town
We dont have any rules as such, because we like to enjoy ourselves and like our guests to do so too! So we dont mind smoking, drinking, music, etc but we do like you to consider other people in the house and be nice to the cats who dont live in the house but downstairs but who wander through.
