Large and comfortable double room in an artistic, Victorian townhouse. Quirky decor and furnishings certain to enhance your London experience. Around the corner from Hackney Downs which connects to the city in 10 minutes
Double Room in Victorian house. 2 minutes to Hackney Downs Station and under 10 minutes to Liverpool Street station. So the location is in a very central London position (Zone 2) and in the Dalston area of Hackney.
Short walk to Hackney Central Station is a couple of stops to Stratford, the home of the Olympics 2012.
The house has a rustic, curiosity- feel from treasures found in the many trendy flea-markets and vintage shops in the area. Very nearby is London Fields where there is a heated outdoor swimming pool and Ridley Road Market where there are lots of ethnic food and fashions.
It is a vegetarian house, but easy-going and Bohemian, sharing it with a 26 Bodie (Son) and 48 year old, Heath, (father) who is also an artist/ musician and two nice cats who live downstairs. We even supply ashtrays on request!
There is WIFI in the house so if it rains you can relax inside. But there's so much to do in the surrounding areas. if you like Art and Museums, there the Museum of Childhood at nearby Bethnal Green, the lesser known, Geoffrey Museum takes you through the English Interiors through the ages and at Walthamstow you can see the home of William Morris (Arts and Crafts) .
On a Saturday or Sunday we like to go to the Boot fair (Garage sale) at a nearby School and are always happy with our bargains.
** The photo of the smallest room with a pot cupboard in it, is now being converted to a shower room/ extra bathroom. It's not quite ready yet but any day now!**
**One of our Reviewers has said the Hackney Downs station is not open on weekends - this was only prior to the Olympics.**
Close to Ridley road and Broadway Markets, Dalston night life and London fields.
Interaction with Guests
We are very welcoming hosts and enjoy meeting and conversing with our guests.
Dalston is a fun and vibrant neighbourhood with lots to do. If you have a keen interest in arts and culture this is the place for you.
Nearest train stations include Hackney downs, Dalston junction and Hackney central. Also there are many convenient bus routes for getting into the centre of town
We dont have any rules as such, because we like to enjoy ourselves and like our guests to do so too! So we dont mind smoking, drinking, music, etc but we do like you to consider other people in the house and be nice to the cats who dont live in the house but downstairs but who wander through.
Staying with Heath and Bodie is always a pleasure – they are gracious hosts, and their house is utterly charming. Highly recommended!
Really situated well for working in Hackney, close to everything on a quiet street. House is comfortable and, albeit slightly dated, very clean.
I will have no hesitation booking the one again.
The description was very accurate and the feedback from HEath and Bodie very quick and helpful: I had 7 hrs delay on my flights and couldnt do the schedule checkin time, that was no problem at all. Neighborood is in East London / Hackney, very tipycal and close to transportation and various night life areas, without being in the middle of the action which is convenient
I arrived earlier than I had stated and this posed no problem for the guys. They had also kept in very good contact with me from initial booking and any additional communications. Everything was clean and tidy and I was made to feel very welcome and part of the family, by one cat in particular who slept on my bed with me. One of Heaths friends popped over and listening to them talk was rather lovely. Location was great to everything I needed and they provided lovely breakfast materials that I was to help myself to, if I ever need to be in that area again I would definitely stay there.
Bodie is a very friendly host and made me feel welcome and relaxed. The room was as described.
I had a pleasant stay at Heath and Bodie's place. I loved the homey atmosphere that the place had. I love the several antiques and items scattered around the house.
Furthermore, the place is extremely close to Hackney Downs Station and there are night buses in the area too. Great area and place! I would love to stay here again.
We stayed with our hosts for a total of 3 night on a very short notice, they were very responsive and made us feel really comfortable in their flat. As we had to take off for a night to visit some friends, they allowed us to store our luggage at the flat, which made our stay very convenient and our day travel light. Thank you for having us!! We would definitely recommend these hosts!

Hello, we're Heath (father) and Bodie (son). We've lived in Hackney for 20 years and it's just the two of us plus the cats, Zipper and Bramble. We like to think of our place as relaxed; we're easy going and friendly. The house is filled with curious antiques and pieces we've collected over the years and has an excellent kitchen that was made for enjoying food and great conversations. We have a breadth of knowledge about the local area and wider city. We're more than happy to assist with directions, advice on the Arts and Culture and possibly introduce you to the Bohemian Art, Music and Fashion scene that's exploding right on our doorstep. We hope you'll come visit!
