My friends and I highly recommend Arna and Terri's place. The location was perfect, not far from downtown, away from tourist' eyes, very restful, great views. Returning to the retreat at the end of the day was almost like going home. The room was very clean, and with the sitting room that we used as a 2nd bedroom, adequate room to move around (considering 4 adults), homey and with enough kitchen amenities for anyone who wants to cook something simple. The room temperature was set perfectly. The surrounding area is beautiful with an almost private walking trail behind. Though we saw other guests, the rooms are far apart and we did not hear any noise or distractions at all. My friends and I wanted a place were we could fully relax and feel at home while being away from home. This more than met our requirements. Too bad we could not stay longer to enjoy the pool and hot tub.
We had an excellent time in Sedona. The room we stayed in was awesome and well priced. We also used the pool and jacuzzi, its an experience to see the mountains/rocks and stars at night. Whatever we needed or asked for was attended to quickly and the place is close to shops, trails and historical sites. I have recommended this place to my friends and will stay there again when i go back.
Thank you for a great experience
Wow! What an awesome place...had a great time...setting is absolutely beautiful....looking forward to going back... the host was very helpful..made the trip easy...can't recommend this place more highly!
Loved staying at the Writer's Retreat. I was alone for part of the trip and my cousin joined me for part of it. 2 ppl stay comfortably in this room. The house is gorgeous -- even though it is old, it is surrounded by the majestic, breathtaking red rock mountains. You are IN red rock country, literally. A sweet pool and hot tub await you. Things I did and enjoyed: (I'm not a big hiker/biker)
-drove to Oak Creek and hiked down to the stream and spent some time relaxing alone next to an exquisite stream under the cool shades of the ancient trees lining it
-spent a day at Grand Canyon
-spent a day to visit Antelope Canyon -- even though the Canyons closed due to rain, we go to visit Horseshoe Bend, so the drive was well worth it
-visited Enchantment Resort and relaxed with a drink and desert in this luxury resort staring off into the mountains
-went to Thea's spa to get a massage from Kate (my first professional massage) -- loved it.
-ate lots of yummy food : just yelp and go
I could go on. But just go!
This is definitely a place where u FEEL an energy/"spiritual presence" ....I don't know how to explain it :)
Thanks! The place is charming.
We loved Sedona and our stay - thank you Arna & Terri. The location, peace and views were impressive. The AM hike just out the back door was surreal, we hope to return soon.
Very quiet, charming and rustic retreat place. We stayed in Sedona for two nights. This place has a great view of rocks and easy proximity to Airport mesa.
March 2013. I stayed at the "Writer's Retreat" at the Rockridge property.
I loved it. It was clearly a retreat. Very quiet & comfortable.
No TV, Radio, or computer (although it had WiFi in case you brought your own computer. Otherwise, go to the public library for their computers.) It was a large single room, with a super comfortable Queen sized bed, and mini kitchen & living room furniture plus a writer's table, and beautiful bathroom. The view out the front door was stunning. It looks out at the Sedona main street a mile away, with this beautiful mountain range right behind it. In back, is a trail that leads up hill to Airport Road, and an entrance point to some big-rock trails. Terri & Arna were totally responsive by email. The on site-person was Neil. Good man, totally responsive to any issue that comes up. You have plenty of neighbors on the property, but you never see them, because of the layout. I used 1 afternoon to lay out by the pool to get some tan/color. You can take a day trip going north on 89- but keep your eyes on the road, It's so beautiful, you want to look away from the road, just when it's doing a sharp turn..... I would stay there again in a heart beat.
