A warm welcome and a refreshing cup of coffee was waiting for us from Jeff the host of Beech Cottage B and B.
A lovely clean room prepared by wife Jacqu made us feel really at home for our 2 day stay. the following morning we went to the kitchen for a fresh healthy breakfast of porridge, brown toast, fruit juice, fruit and yogurt washed down by as many cups of breakfast tea, herbal tea or coffee as you could drink.
A great idea all the guests sitting round the kitchen table instead of your own separate tables where know one speaks.
Jeff is a fountain of knowledge explaining all the sites in Bath plus many more places to go that we didn't know existed.
The handy thing about Beech Cottage is having a bus stop at the top of the (lit at night) drive we didn't use the car again until we left 2 days later in the evening. We decided to go to Bristol on our last day and Jeff didn't mind us leaving our car on the drive for the day and Jacqui even made us a refreshing cuppa on our return.
We loved our stay so much that we have booked again for December to go to the Xmas markets.
The best possible start to our visit to Britain. Bath must be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Beech Cottage is comfortable and relaxed. Great healthy breakfast choices prepared by Jacqui, which we were able to enjoy in the company of other guests. Jeff is a great host who knows a travellers needs and has plenty of tips for the visitor...the sort of tips that only a local who loves his town would know. If we ever get the chance again, we'll be back.
Thank you for your review - what more could we ask for? - apart perhaps from copying and pasting it into that well known review site!! Maybe you already have?
Our Australian guests are absolutely the BEST:)
We wish you a blissful 30th anniversary celebration in Paris and safe travels beyond. JnJnJJ
We stayed at Combe Cottage for three nights and had a wonderful relaxing stay in the cottage and Bath as a whole. Our room had a fantastic view over the garden and upon arrival Jeff sat down with us and talked us through some sights and places worth visiting during our stay, that we might not be aware of. This was really helpful and helped shape parts of our visit.
Jacqui and Jeff were exceptionally warm hosts and the breakfast we were provided in the morning was delicious and was a great start to each day. We would highly recommend the porridge!
Combe Cottage is only a short scenic walk from Bath City centre and we would recommend staying here for a relaxing, informative and comfortable stay in a beautiful setting.

Jay and Jeff are wonderful, kind and accommodating hosts. We greatly appreciated Jeff's insight into the area. He took time (as mentioned in other reviews) to go over the area on a map and recommend some attractions, pubs and restaurants.
We took the off piste trail and it was lovely! Wear your walking shoes. I was not prepared and had some difficulty down the hill, but had a great time nonetheless. The pubs that Jeff recommended were spot on. Shout out to the Bell and The Star Inn - two fantastic places. We had lunch at the Pump Room (above the Roman Baths). It was ok....but in an amazing room , which was well worth the lunch. We enjoyed walking around and having a good time getting to know the city.
Strongly recommend taking the bus to their place. So easy! The day pass (for 4.20 pounds) was a good value and perfect for our needs.
Lastly, Jay's breakfasts are delightful- porridge, cereals, toast, fresh fruit, coffee or tea and some great company. All one needs to start the day off.
Thanks so much, Jay and Jeff!

Our stay with JaynJeff was absolutely perfect. My fiance and I live in busy London so this was an ideal weekend getaway. The cottage was charming, conveniently located, and tucked away from any hustle and bustle.
JaynJeff were incredibly helpful with tips and suggestions on where to go and what to see. Jay took the time to explain the sites, pubs, restaurants, and how to get from place to place.
The experience felt extremely personalised with lovely touches of hospitality - coffee and tea in the room, private bathroom with toiletries, and a beautiful breakfast provided by JaynJeff.
We left feeling 100% refreshed and eager to make our next trip.
What a great pace to stay if you are visiting Bath. Our room was most comfortable. We walked about 100 feet to the bus stop and were whisked into Bath. No need to deal with parking or crazy round-a-bouts. Jeff and Jay were so friendly and accommodating. We strongly recommend Jay and Jeff B &B!

Expect a warm welcome when you arrive at Beech Cottage.
Living in Bath since 1968 and being a Bath City Councillor for many years (Mayor of Bath 1995-96) taught Jeff much about the history and fabric of Bath. His beautiful wife Jacqui was born only a mile away from Beech Cottage, then spent most of her life in Jamaica and London - returning to Bath in 2012.
They both value the simple pleasures and comforts in life; and love hosting their guests and helping them enjoy their time in Bath.
Healthy eating and lifestyle are important to us. A self service breakfast is included in the room rate: teas and infusions - fresh filter coffee - muesli - cereals - bread - juices - spreads - fresh fruit. Low fat milk and soya alternative are always available. There is a small gym you are welcome to use during your stay.
Jeff has worked in the US and Canada and travelled extensively. In 2011 he sailed with 3 friends from New Zealand and spent ten weeks in the South Pacific. 10 days and nights - non stop from Opua to northern Tonga in a 45ft yacht was quite an experience :-) From there we went on to Fiji, and Australia
Five things we can't live without? Good food - music - travel - conversation with friends old and new - companionship with each other.
