Just a block from the water: Lovely house with a nice back yard and veggie garden, welcoming front porch, and a great kitchen. (Two Wolf stoves, Miele dishwasher, microwave.) Upstairs are two bedrooms--the master with a king bed and the front room with a twin and a fold-out queen-sized futon--and a full bath with a shower. Downstairs is a couch (which can sleep one more if needed) and a full bath with a soaking tub.
We are in the lovely, tight-knit New Haven neighborhood of Oyster Point, so called because oystermen used to live in its Victorian houses. We are just a block to the water, and two to the pier, marina and Sage Restaurant, which is a great place to go have drinks on the deck in nice weather.
There is a bus stop a block away, and the train station is a 20-minute walk, but the location is best enjoyed with a car: We have ample parking in our six-bay garage and are right off of I-95 for easy coming and going. West Haven beaches are a few minutes in one direction, Yale is a few minutes in the other.
(Caveat: Though they won't be with you when you visit, we do own two cats, so this is probably not the best place for those who are very allergic.)
NOTE: In August 2014 we would prefer to have reservations of 4 days or more.

We loved every minute of our 10 day stay. Beautiful home, comfortable beds, multiple spaces for different activities, great kitchen and centrally located. The host answered almost daily texts and kept us well informed. We already look forward to our next stay.
Sandy and family were very gracious and flexible. The house is beautiful, spacious, with wonderful amenities. The location was convenient for us and there was nice secure parking. We will return since it was so lovely!
Our first airbnb experience was a great succes. We appreciated the welcome basket including a good bottle of wine. The comfortable house has everything you need to have a great holiday. The kitchen is well furnished, the furniture in the dining area and bedrooms gives you a ’home’ feeling. The area is quiet, unfortunately you need a car for everything, the sea is nearby but the beach is not within walking distance. New Haven is a great place and we and our teenagers very much enjoyed the Yale tour. Thank you Sandy and family for lending us your home!
We had a great first airbnb experience at Sandy's home. The house is in a convenient location and we were easily able to drive downtown and to various points around New Haven. We arrived to a nice welcome basket and a clean, well-appointed house. The pictures present an accurate view of the home and we were so glad to have space to spread out compared to staying in a hotel room. The ample off-street parking was also a great convenience. Overall, this was a great stay and the home had everything we needed. Thank you!!
Sandy was great! Prompt responses to all questions and communication with clear instructions left with the awesome welcome basket. The house was the perfect retreat - clean, spacious and comfortable - exactly as described. The king bed was lux. I love front porches and this one was perfect for coffee in the morning. Bonus, fresh basil from the garden.
Sidenote: close to the marina and a pier which was lovely for morning walks but don't expect a swimming beach. Not that this would keep me from staying here again - I loved it. Highly recommend this spot!
Great house and great hosts. The house was beautiful and was exactly as described. It was immaculate when we arrived, there was coffee, great towels, comfortable beds, and a welcome basket, they couldn't have been more welcoming. On top of all that they were very accommodating over a miscommunication over the dates. I would highly recommend the house and the hosts.
