David and Patti are terrific hosts and the Joshua Tree Cottage is a great base for getting in and out of the park. Cottage is as advertised: clean, cozy, well appointed. I will definitely stay here again then next time I travel in the area.
The cottage was just as described. We loved the layout, front porch and patio area. It was plenty of room for my family of 4. We were given great recommendations for areas to visit and all responses were extremely prompt! David greeted us upon arrival, and made us feel very welcome. The location is great, near the park entrance and close to restaurants and shops also. We definitely will be coming back!
Loved staying with David and Patti! Great location in Joshua Tree, easy to get to and close to town. The cottage is clean and has two nice outdoor areas (a screened in porch and a patio on the other side). It has a parking spot right in front. David was so helpful and communicative and the place was even better than pictured!
I am so glad I found this special spot in Joshua Tree! David and Patti were perfect hosts and made our stay wonderful. My guests and I were greeted upon arrival and shown around the cottage and given all the details we may need to know. The cottage is private and separate from the main house -- which I prefer. The living space was great and we loved having the outdoor patio and screened in porch. We came to celebrate my birthday and a lovely bottle of wine was waiting for me as a gift -- such a special treat!! I also loved how close the cottage is to the restaurants, shops and park. I will definitely be staying here again!!
About the Host, David
This cottage and the main home were built in the late 1940s. We have owned this property since 1987 and have done extensive renovations. Renovation and remodeling is a life-style with us. Both of us are gardeners. Dave attends to the vegetables while Patti is responsible for the succulents and cacti. Those who visit during the Spring can expect to be rewarded with a variety of cacti in bloom. Retired, Dave not only has time for property projects, he is also available to guests to meet their needs, answer questions, and offer advice.
We both enjoy entertaining. After years of hosting friends and relatives, we decided to open our cottage to travelers. We enjoy meeting people and introducing them to the wonders of the desert. During your visit, you can expect us to respect your privacy but have the reassurance that we are on the property should you need anything during your visit. Our close presence provides security, especially for those traveling alone.
Patti works as an administrator for the local school district and is also an accomplished artist. Her studio is currently under construction and she anticipates a creative surge once it is completed. Dave enjoys outdoor activities. Our mutual love for reading is reflected in the collection of books available to our guests.
Our life-style is very casual and low-key. We've learned to be early risers to enjoy the best part of the day. We do enjoy road trips and visiting out-of-way places. We are animals lovers and our dog, Barney, is an experienced traveler as well.
