Mother, wife and foreign language speaker, the landlady Monika, who has decided that her passion for foreign languages, cooking, gardening and her love of welcoming guests into her home, which is why she opens her country house to visitors who want to spend a few days tasting the peace and quiet of the surrounding valley, only a few km from Asti town centre and not far away from the Asti-West exit of the Torino- Piacenza highway.
The house is part of a burg from the 17th century, which has been fully renovated, attempting to maintain the typical features of rural architecture, while still providing all modern comforts and conveniences and it's situated in the Natural and Paleontological Reserve "Valleandona and Valle Botto", a green paradise right on Asti’s doorstep, which is full of marine fossils as proof that Po plain, five million years ago, was in fact, a sea.
A good idea is to take a walk with a young tourist guide of La Pervinca which co-operate for Valleandona.
Breakfast will be suitable for all customers including any special requests and they are welcome to use Wi-fi and the big living-room where the fireplace and TV are situated or as an alternative they can go outside in the garden or under the porch while to sociailise with some members of the family.
We offer guests the opportunity to use the kitchen and grill to prepare their meals at any time of day, consisting of professional stove, pantry and refrigerator; there is also a washing machine to wash your clothes.
Rooms are nice and well furnished, they all have TV set and rooms have bathroom and balcony in front of the swimming pool in the garden and offer panoramic views on the surrounding valley. If you're a wine and good food lover, this is the place you should visit.
At your disposal you will have the husband Antonio, who will point you all the best cellars and restaurants of this area because he knows many wine-producers' association, he's an alpine man and expert hunter and so he will give you all useful information about the best Piedmont restaurants, the recommended tourist itineraries, the fairs of typical products and all the area's traditional events.
By the way, the best time to visit Asti is from the beginning of September to the end of November, when there is one food and wine event after another and you will be able to taste wines and some wonderful dishes with truffles and mushrooms. At the end of July there is the country feast of Valleandona, where you can find traditional food and drink at reasonable prices and also dancing and listening to music in the centre of the country. On the third Sunday of September, remember there's the Palio di Asti , the traditional horse race, when the town turns out in Medieval costumes for the annual procession.
In addition to the Palio, in the town of Asti there are theDouja d'Or and the Festival delle Sagre.
The d’Ouja d’Or is a market fair on precious wines with the competitions, wine tasting and conferences and events involving wine and food. It takes place in the most prestigious historic buildings in the town centre and the objective is to inform people about the best wines to be found in Italy.
The Festival delle Sagre Astigiane, (The Asti Popular Festival) takes place on the second weekend in September and pays homage to the life of the peasants of the past. There is an extraordinary parade with 3000 figurants who act out scenes of the typical life of the peasants, their jobs and their rites.
At the end of the parade the Piazza del Palio turns into the largest open-air restaurant in Italy, thanks to the work of over forty local organisations which offer visitors local food and wine.
A nice and clean place!
The room were impressive!
The only negative thing were the breakfast that were quite poor compared to other places.
La Valle B&B is amazing! We had an amazing time in the Vini Room... quiet, super comfortable, warm, and really relaxing. Everything was superb, including Monika's home cooking! Well worth a visit. Tell her hello for us!
We so enjoyed our stay at La Valle with Monika! The room was exactly as pictured. The shower may have been the best shower on the trip. The added benefit of a generous and a delicious breakfast was a nice change from cooking or going to a restaurant-- although Monika said we were welcome to use the kitchen. Monika's English is excellent and she had many wonderful suggestions. You should absolutely ask her before you arrive for suggestions of all that you should do in the area. She will tell you the best places to go for the best value. If you like, she'll be happy to make you dinner as well -- it's both excellent and huge -- so take her up on it and don't eat lunch! This would be a wonderful place to come back to with a group as well. She has quite a few rooms and is adding on more. Highly recommend!
La Valle is a very professionally-run bed and breakfast. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable and the area, a small town about 9pm out of Asti, was very safe and a good place to base yourselves to explore the surrounding area. Monika is very knowledgeable and suggest we go to a local truffle festival which was certainly a highlight, as was her dinner- she is a very good cook!
