Two bedrooms and one bathroom with tub on first floor, kitchen on ground floor; parking, terrace, gardens with garden furniture, BBQ and bread oven. Located on Langhe hills, close to Canelli, Nizza M., Barbaresco and Barolo wineries, is 30' to Asti, Alba or Acqui Terme, 1h to Turin or Genoa. Now part of the Unesco Heritage Landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato region, you'll enjoy gourmet food in local restaurants and wine tastings in the hundred wineries of the area.

The space
A restored old farmer house ("cascina") on hill slopes offers two first floor bedrooms sleeping five persons. The bathroom has iron bath tube Victorian style. The kitchen is on ground floor, opening on the lawn and dining areas.

Guest access
Property is reachable by car 2 minutes off the main road (strada provinciale 592) in Calamandrana, direction Calamandrana Alta (old village); after 150 mt turn left on a small road with sign "frazione Chiesavecchia" and follow the sign to Alle Rive Bed'n'Books
Personal ID cards or passports will be required at arrival for registration in Questura di Asti.
When here, our guests will be able to enjoy the two acre property which is all fenced; dogs have all the upper lawn fenced as dog area so they can run safely out of the reach of donkeys. There are also 8 cats living in the area, so the place is not suitable for people allergic to cat hair (even though the apt is maintained cat-free, hair flies in the wind!)

Other things to note
Please make sure there are no people allergic to cat hair traveling here...please specify also if you do not want feather duvet or feather bed pillows. The presence of donkeys has also to be underlined: they stay inside their stable and paddock and in the woods, but when close to the house they might search for treats in your hands and bite your fingers, thus do not approach them unless you know how.
Remember to have with you personal ID cards or passports, registration is mandatory.
Due to the presence of old stone stairs, the place is not recommended for families with infants or toddlers.

Within a half hour drive all the most important wine producing old villages can be reached: Canelli, Neive, Barbaresco, Alba, La Morra, Barolo, to list the most famous; the Roman towns Acqui Terme, Alba and Asti are also half a hour away. While all year long you can enjoy local specialties, in Autumn truffles and veggies dipped in anchovy sauce (Bagna Caoda) are the most typical food. But strolling in the gardens or sitting in the panoramic terrace with a cup of tea or a glass of wine will be a most treasured time! From Spring to Autumn almost every week-end country fairs will animate the surrounding villages.

In 1976 I majored in Classic Studies (Greek, Latin and such), and I became a teacher in middle school. During my second pregnancy in 1981 I enrolled at Medical School and became a doctor in 1993, being an Ob&Gyn ultrasonographer and genetic counselor since. Just retired on Jan 1st, 2015, now offering the west part of my Piedmont "cascina" to guests. I have been an US resident for 7 years in NH, from 1997 to 2004, sadly affected by the Towers (my husband got the dust from them all over). After having published a hundred scientific papers, now I mostly write poetry and do historical research. I am vegan and and as a medical doctor I can explain you why, in case you pay particular attention to your health!
