The Space

Welcome to my beautiful home where you will find all the comforts of home from home. My home is situated just 5 minutes walk from the beautiful Salthill promenade. The bus stops outside my house which will take you into the city center in 10 minutes or alternatively you can walk along the sea front and breath in the fresh invigorating Atlantic air!

I offer a complimentary breakfast of juice, fresh fruit, eggs, tea/coffee with homemade brown and white scones and preserves There are laundry facilities available at a moderate fee. Although from the calender it may look as though I am booked, in fact I have a second room of the same standard which can be viewed in my photo lineup, so please contact me regarding availability. In addition, I have a single bedroom which is available for an additional guest/child in your party.

My home is situated in the village of Salthill which has an array of coffee shops, restaurants and night life. The beautiful promenade runs into the oldest part of Galway, the Claddagh, and from there to the Spanish Arch and the Latin Quarter of Galway.

The city offers a wonderful eclectic mix of restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and shops. In addition, it is a medieval city with numerous walking tours, theaters, art galleries and all that Galway as the cultural capital of Ireland has to offer. At the weekend, it hosts a farmer's market in front of the medieval St. Nicholas' Cathedral where you can meet the locals and tourists, the famous and not so famous in search of artisan food, jewellery and crafts. For those looking for more rugged landscape, Galway is the gateway to Connemara, renouned for its wild, beautiful and romantic scenery. There are many bus tours to take you to Connemara and the Arran Islands so a car is not a necessity. The Cliffs of Moher are another 'must' and the tour bus will collect you at my home. From Dublin Airport and Dublin City a non-stop bus gets you to Galway in under 3 hours! So why not come here and sample the delights of a truly unique city...and a very warm welcome from Kathryn!!

The following are a suggestion of the MUST DO'S and MUST SEE in Galway!

The house has wifi, cable tv and off street parking. My guests have access to the kitchen and all living areas. Also, if the sun shines, you are more than welcome to use my BBQ.

For the benefit of my guests, I have brochures on all the sights and tours that they will need. I supply my guests with a map of Galway city and am always at hand to recommend restaurants, pubs etc. I will also tell them the hidden secrets of Galway, the places off the tourist track that only the locals know about!!

  • Kathryn was very welcoming and provided lots of advice on what to see and how to get there. Her home is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Our room had an ensuite and the other room available has access to a full bathroom. We could also park off the street. Kathryn's home us near the Salthill promenade with lots of restaurants and a lovely walk into town. We would happily stay here again.

  • Kathryn is a wonderful host who made us feel at home at our arrival. She informed us on how to get to Rossaveal to take a cruise boat to go to Inshmore island. She influenced us to visit the Cliffs of Mohers the day of our departure. She gave us a good recommendation for a restaurant in Galway. Our room with an ensuite bathroom was clean and well decorated. My wife is allergic to feather and Kathryn did not hesitate to substitute a synthetic material in the couette. We had a very good night sleep. Kathryn prepared a very nice breakfast. We parked our car in the driveway. We highly recommend Kathryn's B&B to everyone.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Kathryns house. We were welcomed by her daughter and she had great tips what to do around the city. The house was very clean, in a really nice neighbourhood, near to the ocean as well as to the city centre. Thanks for the two great days!

  • Kathryn had prior obligations, so we met her lovely daughters. They welcomed us with tea and biscuits and gave us some advice regarding Salthill and Galway centre. Their home is absolutely goregeous and is equipped with everything you'd need for a short stay. We are especially thankful to have a bit of a local's perspective. Thank you ladies! Love little Moud too!

  • The pink room is every bit as wonderful as it looks in the pictures. Kathryn and her daughter Debbie are great hosts - breakfast was very good, and I received great directions and advice regarding where to go during my stay. Salthill in general is a very pleasant neighbourhood.

  • We had a very lovely stay at Kathryn's home. Her place was easy to find, and the bedrooms were more than adequate. Kathryn had great suggestions for where to eat or grab a pint in Galway, and helped us out with a map of local attractions. We felt very welcome, and greatly enjoyed her lovely home! Breakfast was totally fabulous - cheeses, cold cuts, brown scones, tea and coffee, and more that I'm sure I'm forgetting now! Very pleasant stay!

  • I enjoyed my stay at Kathryn's. The room is welcoming, the bed is comfortable and clean. You have your own privacy but Kathryn is on hand if you have any questions. On the GPS I input no. 11 as the house number and found Kathryn's two doors down. The location is absolutely perfect and parking is available onsite. Wifi is also very speedy. Kathryn has a dog but if you don't like animals do not be off put because you would not even know it. I would definitely stay again if in Galway.

  • Our stay with Kathryn in Salthill was extremely enjoyable. Her home is very comfortable and conveniently located. Breakfasts were sumptuous. Kathryn is a kind, warm and informative host. We followed several of her suggestions related to activities in the area and were glad we did. I have no hesitation in recommending Kathryn, as our stay with her was one of the highlights of our trip in Ireland.
