The Space

Uniquely situated next to sandy long beach and forest - one of the last coastal forests remaining in Greece. Ideal for families with children, group of friends or anyone seeking a very special house. One of a kind!

Please note it is not actually in Kyparissia - but the system does not allow me to list exact location, as it is far out and has no address. It is in Agiannakis, past the train station and towards the beach, the house that is South-West to the station (there aren't many other houses in the area, so you can't miss it really!)

This is an ideal place for a family or group of friends that want to enjoy each other's company whilst also being able to do stuff in the local area - either alone or together. The beach, the forest, the river Neda and its waterfalls all contribute to make this a really special location. Ancient Olympia, where the first Olympic Games were held, and where the flame is lit every four years before it travels across the globe is just 45 minutes drive away. There are plenty of other attractions in the area for all tastes - especially if you like Kalamata olives! The city of Kalamata is in the state of Messinia, and the area is renowned for its olives, olive oil, and generally very tasty food! The area is very green due to abundant underground water - possibly the most beautiful place in Greece!

4 bedrooms, one attic, two bath/shower rooms, one kitchen and lounge, plus outside seating and dining areas, hamocks and barbeque:

1. Master-bedroom with en-suite WC and shower:

There is also a mattress (double or single - I can't remember and will
check) in a tiny attic in the master-bedroom - it could be brought
down if necessary and put on the floor (there is enough floor space in
master bedroom)

2. Double room that faces westwards - there are great views of the sea
and the sunset to be had (although I can't remember if you can
actually see this from the bed in this room, or if you have to go up
to the attic to see this - in any case, there is a great beach bar
which is 100 metres from the house, from which you can see all this.
There is also a taverna about 500 metres away- so not like Delenia
where you have to drive to get anywhere!)

3. Double room that faces the fields - this had two double beds, one
on top of each other (built by my Dad in a similar style to Delenia)
in a sort of bunk bed way - except they are not parallel, but
perpendicular to each other, and quite high, so not claustrophobic.

4. Single bedroom, with three single beds - one on floor level, the
other two higher up - one is lengthways, and the other sideways, so
again, not on top of each other.

5. Attic. The main attic has a double bed on one side, and a single
ned on the other - but it can get rather warm up here in the summer!
The attic is above the living room, and has no door to close it off
from the rest of the house.

You can fly from Gatwick to Kalamata, which is approx 50 kilometres away from the house - I'd recommend you hired a car from Kalamata, as it's the best way to get to the house, but also necesaary to explore the area - lots of things to explore. Including lovely waterfalls of the Neda river!

  • We decided to have our destination wedding at Delenia after seeing it listed in AirBNB’s Top 40. We contacted Chryssa and from the beginning she has been nothing but a wonderful host and contact for all the details we needed to plan our wedding. With her recently renovated barn we were able to accommodate 22 guests. The villa is remote and because Greece is a cash-based society make sure to get all the Euros you need prior to taking the ferry to the island of Evvia, and if you choose to rent a car make sure it’s 4 wheel drive. However, the remoteness of the villa added to its beauty and magic. Our friends, family and ourselves had a wonderful time and the wedding went smoothly with all the vendors able to get to the villa and surpassed all of our expectations. The villa staff – Bette, Ilias and Katrine – were extremely warm, friendly and helpful. We’ll miss them as much as the villa itself! For further details and photos of the wedding see the link to my blog (website hidden)

  • I want to say thank you to Chryssa and all staff of the villa for made our wedding unforgettable and our 4 days at the villa were such wonderful. Chryssa all the time was really helpful and ready to solve all our problems.
We arrived on Thursday and until we get to the villa I saw in which delighted all my family was, ranging from trip on the ferry boat and ending with views that opened from the villa’s windows. Ilias met us at the port with 3 taxis on time and we arrived to the villa without any troubles. We were met by comfortable rooms, great Greek breakfast for 16 people and friendly Betty, Ilias, Katerina and Chryssa. Everyone was so kind and friendly, everything was perfect.
On Friday we had a wedding, and Ilias met a coordinator of ceremony, catering, photographer, sertaki dancers and all the time was ready to help. I really don’t know what we did without Ilias. He is a soul of the villa for sure. Our wedding was more better then I wished it in my dream.
All the days Betty prepared for us really good food, traditional greek, but always interested in our tastes. It was hard, I think, to feed 16 people, but she did it amazingly good.
On Saturday we had a rest and relaxed in jakuzzi, swam in the swimming pool with sea water and just enjoyed our life. In the afternoon Ilias showed us how to catch sea urchins and got a caviar from it. All villa’s men were very impressed of it. Then Ilias showed us how to prepare greek sacivi souse and all women of the villa were impressed of master class. And in the evening he made a barbeque for us. It was really delicious and funny.
On Sunday in the morning we had to go to Athens, but neither me and my husband nor our parents didn’t want to leave such a beautiful place where we all became a real big family. 4 days at the villa were the most memorable in the life of our relatives.
Ilias, Betty and Chryssa thank you so much for everything. Because of you, my friends, and people from transfer company we fell in love to Greece. You are the best! Our wedding couldn’t be better.
By the way, barn is very cozy and nice place. I advice Chryssa and all her staff to you. You will never worry about your choice.

  • Delenia was absolutely beautiful - full of charm and character! We all had a wonderful stay and wished we had more time to explore the villa. Chryssa was an amazing host. She helped so much with the arrangement of all the transportation and activities (cooking class, day trip into Athens) despite bring injured!

We definitely plan to return again....maybe a future anniversary!

  • My family had a fabulous stay at Villa Delenia. The natural beauty of the location is only surpassed by the fabulous accommodation and outstanding hospitality provided by Elizavet and Vassilis, the couple who make dinner and keep the house for Chryssa. The Villa is a remarkable and imaginative environment which can be enjoyed by all generations. Chryssa was extremely approachable in helping us arrange our holiday and we had an unforgettable time.

  • Great location, comfortable apartment, reasonable cost, and best of all, Chryssa is a great hostess. If you want to experience "living in Athens", this is the best of all options. Highly recommended.

I'm half-Greek, half-Brazilian, born in London. Currently live in Athens, and am trying to keep alive my dad's Aegean island villa, on Evia. I love the 'travel like a human' idea, and am planning a trip to India, on the way to Nepal to visit my family in Kathmandu. I've enjoyed hosting, and am now looking forward to being a guest. I am clean, quiet and don't snore!
