About this listing
Renting a great little guest room in my garden apartment in the heart of Northwest Portland. This centrally located building is 2 blocks from 2 bus lines (#15 and #77), and 3 blocks from the streetcar.
Nestled in the back corner of this classic 1920's courtyard building is my multistory, 2 bdrm, 1 bathroom apartment. I am currently renting a 2nd story guest room (one, full-sized bed) with a southern view of my patio garden. This is a shared bathroom situation. My bedroom is directly across the hall, but with the doors closed this is a pretty quiet room. Though it's rarely needed here in Portland, my apartment does NOT have air conditioning. The room has west and south facing windows and gets a good breeze overnight. There is also a fan for your use if wanted.
Though it's located just off the bustling and trendy Northwest 23rd Ave this is a relatively quiet apartment (aside from my neighbor occasionally singing along as he plays his guitar, the chirping of the birds, and the bark of a neighbor's dog.) The neighborhood is filled with bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and various shopping options. Additionally, Wallace Park is a block away and a hike in Forest Park is a mere 10 minutes by foot.
Includes: Wi-Fi, access. Shared kitchen use. Full bed. Room is located on 2nd floor. Smoking allowed on patio or in the entry outside the front door. I do have one cat, but she mostly stays in my room. Her name is Gray, she's curious and friendly, but a bit skittish.
This is a shared bathroom and kitchen situation. You're also welcome to hang out in the living room and dinning room and on the back patio.
It just depends on the guest and our schedules. If you're around and want to chat, I am generally available.
It's very walkable and there are lots of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping. It's also full of old houses and interesting architecture. It's a vibrant neighborhood with lots of people watching.
There are two buses (#15 and #77) and the streetcar with a few blocks. I don't own a car and rely primarily on public transit and walking.
1. Please no overnight guest.
2. No smoking inside the apartment. Smoking is allowed out on the back patio or in the alcove outside the front door.
3. If you'd like to open a window on the first floor please place a screen in front of it so the cat doesn't get out.
4.Whenever leaving the apartment please shut and lock all windows on the first floor. The front door locks on its own.
Fun, quintessentially artistic digs in a great location. In addition to the Alphabet and Pearl Districts, you can walk up the street on summer evenings and watch the Vaux swifts swarm into the Chapman school chimney stack. Incredible experience not to be missed! Brent was gracious and helpful. We'd stay here again.
We had a great time staying at Brent's place!! Great one bedroom space and within walking distance of everything 23rd Street has to offer.
This air b n b was great, and it was a great base for our adventures to Pearl and 23rd ave. I had overlooked the (three) mentions of a cat in the description, but the room was super clean and I had no allergies.
My stay at Brent's went really well! Anyone looking for a great location in Northwest Portland would be wise to consider staying here. Brent was great and while I only met him briefly upon my arrival he was very accommodating and considered my comfort as a priority while Portland was experiencing a heat wave! Very charming room and his cat Grey was very sweet!
Brent was welcoming and accommodating. We checked in pretty late, but he graciously stayed up to wait for us. We also had a late night flight on the day of check-out, and he gave us some space to leave our luggage in his home, for which we are very grateful. He provided us with some lovely hiking and dining recommendations which we thoroughly enjoyed! His place is right in the thick of the action in Portland, with indie shops and brands, and countless cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Public transport is not a problem either, so getting around was incredibly convenient.
We had a brilliant time with Brent in Portland! He made us feel very welcome and his house is super-pretty. His cat is also lovely. This house is an amazing location in North West district, and a perfect place from which to explore Portland. Cannot recommend enough. We also left a jacket in his house by accident, and he contacted us and was happy to send it back to us straight away, which was lovely.
I couldn't have asked for more from Brent's place. Brent was an excellent host! We were both out and about all weekend, so we hardly saw one another, but he was sure to check in with me to make sure I was comfortable and enjoying my stay. The room was very well kept, the bed was comfortable, and there were a ton of clean towels awaiting me. I loved the little touches, like pitcher of water by the bedside as well as list Brent made of recommended places near by. The location was great. A walk down 23rd Ave. brought me to a ton of cool shops and restaurants. I stopped at a whiskey bar at the end of Brent's block and a Blue Star donuts down the street. There was public transportation very close, but I found that downtown was not far at all. The weather was great that weekend, so I ended up walking around the entire time I was there, which saved a bit of money and let me see a bit more of Portland. I would definitely recommend a stay here!
About the Host, Brent
I'm a pretty easy-going, quiet, gay guy living in beautiful Portland. I love cooking and eating good food and drinking good wine with friends.
I'm trying to create my dream job by being a part of the founding team of an upstart company called Kids for Recycling. To make money, I'm a server and a pretty avid Airbnb host for about a year now.
I've really enjoyed meeting a lot of interesting and friendly people hosting and look forward to meeting many more.
