Mary and her husband were lovely hosts. Their house was incredibly clean, organised and spacious. Everything lived up to the pictures - and more! The little "hotel-like" extras Mary set out for us (e.g. coffee and tea on the upper floor, brand new toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathrooms) were a nice touch, and something i didn't expect. They were also very flexible about arrival timing, which i really appreciated. All in all, a fantastic first Airbnb experience.
It was amazing accommodation, and Mary made us feel very welcome and gave us good tips for visiting Charleston. We enjoyed the discussions we had with her and Ron. To me that is part of experiencing a country, getting to know its people.
We highly recommend this accommodation.
Our stay in the home of Mary and Don was just perfect. Their home is warm and spacious. The area upstairs was perfect for myself, my sister, and my sister-in-law. We each had our own bedroom and a little sitting room to sit and drink our coffee and tea (provided) in the mornings. Breakfast was always tasty (loved the homemade zucchini bread!). We especially enjoyed getting to know them and their advice on things to do while in Charleston. Don and Mary are delightful people.
It was a pleasure to meet Mary and her Husband, they had a lot of informations about the region for us, the house and the rooms are better then everything we have expected. We definetly come back!!!!Thanks Mary!
This was my first experience using airbnb - and it was an EXCELLENT start! We stayed one night. The place was immaculately clean and in a lovely, quiet neighborhood, complete with a public pool and a beautiful fountain that I could see just out my bedroom window. The location is great, about fifteen minutes from both downtown and the beach. The beds were soft and comfortable, the bathrooms were sparkling and stocked with everything from towels to shampoo to toothpaste to nail clippers to lotion...anything you can really think of. Mary and Don (who stayed downstairs while I and my three friends stayed upstairs) were both so friendly and welcoming...their living room was lined with tons of books (my favorite part) and Mary made a great breakfast of bagels, fresh fruit and sweet rolls in the morning. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Charleston.
We highly recommend the Smith residence as a nice, clean, spacious home that is very reasonably priced and convenient to Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island beaches as well as Charleston, SC. We felt very welcome and really enjoyed getting to know Mary and Don who were very accommodating and gracious hosts. We would return without hesitation.
I am very thankful to Mary and Don for allowing my family to stay at their beautiful home. We had the entire upstairs floor, which was very spacious. My son and his wife were in one room. My wife and I were in another room. The entire house was immaculate. The location was very strategic. We had the chance to watch the impressive 4th of July fireworks at the USS Yorktown, visited Shem Creek several times, and downtown Charleston. Even the be Isle of Palms beach was very close; within a 15 minutes driving distance.
Mrs. Smith was very accommodating. Fun to talk to. Meet all our needs. I would definately stay there again.
Our stay with Mary and Don was great. They are a lovely couple, very warm and gracious. We were in town for our son's graduation from Naval Nuclear Power School. My 76 year old mom was with us. The upstairs 3bdrm/2 baths worked out great. It was very private, clean and comfortable. Mary prepared fresh fruit, zucchini bread and cinnamon rolls for breakfast each morning. She offered great suggestions for restaurants and activities. We enjoyed sitting around the kitchen table and talking with her and Don. The home is in a quiet safe neighborhood with easy access to shopping, dining, beaches and all that Charleston has to offer. This was our first experience with airBnB, it was very positive. I would do it again and I highly recommend Mary and Don's home.
We really enjoyed our stay with Mary and Don and only wish it could have been for longer. They are lovely hosts, and their home was perfect for us. It's very conveniently located in a nice neighborhood in Mt. Pleasant, and the upstairs is very private and spacious! We were very comfortable and would love to stay there again! A great first experience for us with Airbnb!
Two of my friends and I wanted to visit Charleston but couldn't find a hotel due to the Spoleto festival. We found Mary's home and it was perfect: 3 bedrooms, clean and in a lovely neighborhood - much better than a hotel. Great location, too - in Mt. Pleasant, only about 15 minutes from downtown Charleston. Next time I'm in town with a group I'd stay at Mary's and not even bother looking for a hotel.
