Rent a giant three bedroom apartment in Manhattan. We have one queen bed and three bunk beds which can sleep a total of 8 people. We also have a big couch in the living room that can accommodate two more.
A wonderful, quiet escape in Manhattan, our apartment is 25 minute train from Times Square but walking distance to the Cloisters. We are a block away from the A express train, and a few blocks away from the 1 train. The neighborhood is lovely and very safe.
We are directly across the street from the Washington Heights police precinct, which makes our immediate neighborhood very quiet and safe. It is full of families, there is a fresh fruit stand or market on almost every corner. We have lived here as three young women with active social lives, often walking home from the train late at night with no problems at all.
ABOUT US: We are two girls in our early 30's, very sweet and accommodating. We have both traveled extensively and stayed in a lot of hostels, so we have an idea of how to accommodate travelers. We keep the house very clean, and we make sure that upon arriving you will have fresh linens, blankets, and towels. We will make sure someone is here to greet you, give you your keys, show you to your room, and give you a subway map or directions to wherever you wish to go. We love to walk, cook, paint, bike, read and dance. And we love to meet travelers from abroad!
The apartment building is over 150 years old, with big windows, hardwood floors, cool victorian wall moldings and a lot of space. The building is very quiet and all our neighbors are friendly. The bathroom and the kitchen were completely redone in January, so the bathtub, tiles, sinks, floor, stove, cabinets, and refrigerator are brand new. We have a communal kitchen with pots and pans and cutlery for you to use. We have high speed wireless internet so you can stay online while you stay with us. Also, and most importantly for the intense summer heat, WE HAVE AIR CONDITIONING in each room!!!
We are leasing out two rooms in our three bedroom apartment. We have set them up hostel-style. Each large room has two bunks with four beds per room. We are able to accommodate groups and pairs of travelers if you want to visit NYC on the cheap and still want to stay with your friends :)
TRAVELING TO US:
We are a very convenient train ride from Port Authority and Penn Station, the A train is on the same line so after you get off your bus or train, you can stay in the same building and hop on one train to get to us.
Take the A train to 181st street, take a left on exiting the train, walk up the stairs to exit on 184th st. Now you are 3 minute walk from us!
THE CLOISTERS/FORT TYRON:
One of the best parts of our neighborhood is its proximity to Fort Tyron Park and the Cloisters. We are a short walk from one of the most beautiful parks in NYC and one of its most interesting museums.
The Cloisters museum and gardens are a branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. The Cloisters' collection comprises approximately three thousand works of art from medieval Europe, dating from about the ninth to the sixteenth century.
The building and its cloistered gardens—are treasures in themselves. The building incorporates parts from five French cloistered abbeys.
Our favorite part of the Cloistesr, and its most famous attraction are the GIANT UNICORN TAPESTRIES! They are Amazing!!
Within Fort Tryon BETTE MIDLER has opened a wonderful cafe called the New Leaf. The prices are very reasonable, the chef is well known, and best of all, the proceeds go to New York Restoration Project, Bette Midler's non-profit that cleans up parks and helps save and manage over 55 community gardens. We love Bette Midler and we love New Leaf!
We are 3.4 miles from Central Park, 5 miles from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 6 miles from the Natural History Museum, , and a 20 min train ride to Times Square and the Broadway Shows. Any other thing you would like to visit, we will do our best to help accommodate you!
Thanks for checking us out, and even if you choose to stay elsewhere we hope you have a wonderful stay in NEW YORK CITY!
Amanda is very nice. For the price this appartement is ok. Two disconvenience : you are four in a room and there are two rooms then sometimes the line to go to the bathroom. And it's noisy.
Besides i can recommand this place.
I only get a chance to meet Amanda, who was a very welcoming and helpful host. She definitely makes you feel like home!
The place is clean, quiet, and conveniently located: it's very close to two subway stations, making it VERY easy to travel around Manhattan or even if you come back/are going to JFK airport (it honnestly couldn't be simplier).
I would definitely recommand this place to my friends and stay at Amanda's and Annie's place if I get the chance to visit the city again!
Amanda's & Annie's place was a great deal! It was also very clean.... definitely a great place to stay if you like or don't mind a hostel type accommodation:) I was there for about a week while looking for a new apartment, A lot of people there were just staying to visit NYC, & I think it serves both purposes very well..
Lovely and calm.
Amanda and Annie are both very kind.
Just wish there was stronger water pressure in the shower but that goes for most of NYC.
Amanda and Ann are a couple of fun, knowledgeable, and gracious hosts. Getting to know them and the other guests at the apartment was as memorable as any of the site or events I saw during my two weeks in the city. Thanks for making my stay in New York most excellent!
