The cottage is in a perfect location. Hwy M28 takes you along Lake Superior, Between Marquette and Munising.
Lake Superior is across M28 at the end of our driveway. Access to the beach is a bit of a climb due to erosion and record high water level but very doable. A public stairway to the beach is a short walking distance (200 yards) from our property for easy beach access. A large patio with plenty of outdoor furniture, grill, 3 person swing, and hammock for relaxation in the back trees.

The space
Sauna, we have a traditional wood burning steam sauna for our guests to use. We provide the firewood for the sauna but bring your own firewood for the patio.

We have a 2019 26' travel trailer that is on our adjacent property. It’s only available for guest booking that need more space for a larger group. It sleeps 4, and there will be an added nightly rate upon request.

We are updating this season with steps to help keep our guest safe during this virus outbreak. I'm letting all guest know we are taking the Covid-19 seriously. Housekeeping is going to have a diligent disinfecting cleaning regiment; with a complete disinfecting wipe down of door knobs, furniture, tables, outdoor furniture tv remotes, and anything that would need to be considered. I'm going to provide hand sanitizer, and sanitizer wipes for guest to use to wipe down anything they are concerned with. I want guests feel confident that the cottage is cleaned properly to deal with this virus. The Upper Peninsula is a remote area and doesn't have a large dense population, so I'm confident it's a place that will have limited concerns with this pandemic.

The cabin is filled with everything you'll need to feel right at home.

We have a travel trailer on our adjacent property, and may be available for booking if you have a large group. We use the trailer when we are at the property.
The cabin is in a perfect location. From the cabin on Hwy M28, it takes you along Lake Superior, Between Marquette and Munising
Off Hwy M28 are:

Other things to note
TRAILS!!!!!!!
Off Road Vehicle Trail (ORV) is near by. The ORV trail-and is 26 miles long, going west it connects to the bike only trail (ORE heritage trail) which is 42 miles long, and goes to Marquette and further on to Republic

I have Brochures on all activities, sight seeing, and some of the best restaurants menus

Below I’ve made descriptive highlight of day long excursions that are the best of Upper Michigan

*Au Train is a quaint little gem of a town. It has outfitter rental for kayak and canoes. It has a wonderful public beach that has the warm Au Train River, and its the favorite for canoe, kayak, and fishing. Very popular swimming spot with nice public parking. There's a pastie shop, pizza, ice cream, German restaurant, and a general store /gas stationwith souvenirs
*Water falls are easy access of Hwy M28

Further east of Munising Are little gems towns like the historic town of Grand Maria, and the famous sand dunes (Log Slide Overlook). Remember going down this dune is fun but a bugger going back up. Nearby is White Fish Point lighthouse and museum, which provides history of famous shipwrecks, including the Edmund Fitzgerald that sunk in that area during a fierce November storm in 1975. Close by the museum is Tequanimum Falls State Park. The park offers walking trails, a gorgeous waterfall, and a microbrew restaurant to relax at during your visit.

I highly recommend a driving trip up the north west shore of Marquette county, highway 550. It leads to public trails such as Sugar Loaf lookout, little Presque Isle Park, and Harlow Lake. Continue up to the historic town of Big Bay. This town is filled with so much history. The Big Bay Hotel was the place that a famous murder took place in 1952, and was the same site Jimmy Stewart stared in the movie "Anatiomy of a Murder". The hotel has a nice cafe and museum dedicated to the the movie, and another famous guest Henry Ford. The prestigious Huron Mountain Club is located in this same region, but is exclusive to members only. Look up "the secrets of Huron Mountain Club" for the rich history of this truly primitive location, and its world famous members. Henry ford was a member of this club, and he also had a mill factory here that produced the wood panels for the ford vehicles. You can see the abandoned mill from the hotel. Just past the hotel 550 turns in to a dirt road that ends at the Big Bay Lighthouse. It's a B&B now, but you can still tour the grounds and gardens. I tried to provide highlights of this area. It has so much more to offer than mentioned. During the Fall season it has spectacular colors to enjoy, and the cabin is open through October.

Our Property has all the best of the UP.
Lake Superior, ours is a quiet beach, accessible for those who need stairs. Short walk down the beach is Sand River, this has been a favorite place to swim when the lake is cold, plus it’s so awesome running into Lake Superior. Sand River runs behind our property.

We have a traditional Finnish Sauna to enjoy for great relaxation.
We are surrounded by State Forest, trails off the property lead to main State trails for Off Road and bikes.
Our property is wooded and very peaceful. Short Hike takes you to Lakenenland (google for info). Kids love it

Wildlife is all around the property
We are in between all of the highlights in the area. the cottage is located off Hwy M28 and is the main the road to access Marquette & Munising and everything inbetween.

We are very close to Marquette, so you can enjoy shopping, dinning, and then retreat back to the cottage for relaxation, take a swim, or go for a hike.

The cabin has a sunroom to enjoy during cooler weather and when bugs are an issue.

I guarantee we have a lot to offer for your visit to the area.

I was born and raised in Marquette, MI. We purchased our cottage in 2015. The cottage has been in my family and owned by my great, great uncle, and passed down until we had an opportunity to buy if from my cousin. We are so excited to share this wonderful place. We live full time in Chattanooga, TN. Family members help us run the rental with housekeeping.
