Very nice tropical wood house, 3 floors, located in the middle of nature, calm 7000sq mts private garden, the magnificent Playa Negra is at 700mts with his surf spot and his unforgettable sunset. Center of the village is at 300mts. This one is located 20kms south of Tamarindo and 27kms west of Santa Cruz, Guanacaste. Playa Avellanas is only 3kms north. To have fun in the waves, sharing a beer for the sunset with the local community, observe the birds, iguanas, monos monkeys and nature, riding horses or bike trekking. Also a good base for visiting the Nicoya Peninsula and its many beaches and mountains.
1st floor: Big independant bedroom (2-3 people if a kid ), bathroom with toilets, private terrace, can be rented independantly of the house, Laundry.
2nd floor: Open living room with kitchen, 1 bedroom for 2, bathroom, toilets.
3rd floor: Attic bedroom, 2 to 3 people.
The house is rented minimum for 2 days and first price is 75$ from 1 to 3 people, after 3, there is a cost of 25$ for each extra people.
We also have a cabina for 2 people or 2 and 1 kid to rent, just go on "Playa Negra Tropical Paradise Cabin".
Tour advices and good plans, where to rent a car, hire a surf teacher, a horse or doing a bike trekking or a canopy tour, and more hidden places as the good places to eat and have a drink.
About young children: Parents of young children should evaluate whether the height of the House is safe and appropriate for their children. There are railings around the balcony and stairs but a determined child could climb over them and fall or a very small child could crawl through the spaces in the railing. Every child is individual and their parents must use their best judgment and assume any risk. Roads are bad in costa Rica and especially around Tamarindo. It can take you at least one hour to do Playa Negra-Tamarindo in case of rains, our district has only dirt roads, from Paraiso to Tamarindo (they are know remodeling the road, yes!). We strongly recommend to rent a car to be free of moving to not depend of some expensive taxis. After Paraiso and Tamarindo, public transport is non-existent.. Even if the place has all modern conveniences, it is surrounded with the wild, and more recommended for people looking for this kind of tourism.
-The cabina is no smoking area.
-If you smoke on the terrace don't throw your cigarette ends in the garden.
- we recycle.
- Here you can throw the paper in the toilets, we have a treatment plant.
- Water is precious even if we recycle it too, try to not use it excessively.
- Respect the tranquility of the neighbours and the wildlife.
We stayed with Yvan and his family for 5 days. They are a great host and do everything to make your vacation the best. It is a quiet neighborhood and very friendly, the beach is close by and if you want more „party“ life it is only around 40 min to Tamarind. It was a wonderful time we had there and I highly recommend staying there!
I stayed here for 10 days and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. The beach was within a 10 minute walk. The monkeys in the early morning was a great sound to wake up to. Yvan and his folks were very accommodating . Correspondence with Yvan was quick and very accurate. It is the dry season there and I would of liked to see it rain. The grounds needed the rain, and the animals needed rain. The town was close enough where it was easy to run in and even catch the Uconn Huskies final NCAA games at Gina's! Yvan's home had a good feel , and you felt safe since Yvan or his parents were there the entire time.
If you are looking for a tucked away, off the beaten path place to relax, cook and enjoy the company of your friends- look no further.
Yvan and his parents- who are in an adjacent house- embody the aims and purpose of of Airbnb entirely. I've already recommended the place to a handful of my friends.
This is the best place we've stayed on vacation. I'm reluctant to say this because it will make it more difficult for us to book it in the future! Yvan and his father have built a wonderful little enclave, with an open garden and buildings widely separated for privacy. The main house (what we rented) feels like a treehouse, and virtually everything is made of handcrafted teak. Yvan was very friendly and helpful with driving directions, tips for things to do in the area, etc...
I've spent a lot of time in Costa Rica, and this is the first place I've been where everything just worked (even expensive cabinas usually have some issues like 'suicide showers' that occasionally give you a mild shock, bad water/plumbing, or too many bugs/lizards). The house is exactly as far from the beach as you want to be, about 8 minutes walking, where it is a little cooler, quieter, and there are no mosquitos. The kitchen is fully equipped, and Yvan helped us to catch the local fresh fish truck to make some epic mahi-mahi and calamari. The town itself is basic, but there is a good cafe/restaurant (Cafe Playa Negra) and a full-featured surf shop with good weekly rental rates and stand-up paddle board tours of the mangrove forest (Pargos Adventures). There is a decent grocery store nearby in Junquillal, and a big supermarket a little further afield in Santa Cruz. Playa Negra is quieter than Avellanes and is a world apart from Tamarindo, which has gone from being a bustling surf town to a tourist trap from hell! Despite being only ~20km south of Tamarindo, Playa Negra's bumpy roads keep most of the crowds away. Look no further, this is the place to stay!
The paradise house is well named. We spent a wonderful week at Ivan's place. We have a toddler and with a little supervision, it's a great place for a vacation with a baby. Ivan is really welcoming and helpful. The house is superb and, although really comfortable, is not a McMansion style, which allows you to better blend in the Costa Rica pura vida mentality.
It is located near to two pristines beaches and lots of day trips possibilities (rent a 4x4 to really be able to freely go around).
Thank you Ivan for this great vacation!
We will not try to add other superlatives to the reviews left by others… Yvan's house is simply perfect and the experience of a week there left us intensely zen, happy and grateful to have been able to stay in such a tropical paradise.
Special mention for Françoise and Lucien, Yvan's parents, who are kind and gentle beyond any call.
PURA VIDA!
