Private room in comfortable home near downtown and uptown. Close to many great restaurants, coffee shops and museums. On several bus lines. Full kitchen access.

The space

Centrally located:
- Walk to Eat Street, Uptown, Downtown, and Lake of the Isles.
- Near the Wedge co-op, great restaurants and coffee shops.
- Drive or bus to downtown in 10 minutes / express bus to the University of MN in 10-15 minutes.
- Drive to the airport, Mall of America or St. Paul in 20 minutes (depending on time of day and traffic, of course).

Eclectic neighborhood is filled with turn-of-the century homes, some apartments, beautiful gardens and is well lit.

*********
Your room is furnished with a double bed, freshly laundered linens, a small dresser in the walk-in closet, and a desk.

Take advantage of our garden views in the sunny back yard in the warm months or relax on the classic front porch.

We provide breakfast food items (coffee, juice, cereal, oatmeal and toast) and you can prepare your own breakfast. If you plan to prepare other meals, you are welcome to use the kitchen and we are happy to share vegetables from our garden when they are available.

**********
Guests are welcome to use all common areas of the home.

Our historic 3-story home preserves the quality turn-of-the-century craftsmanship, while offering modern conveniences and comfort:

- Bright and cheery rooms, high ceilings, plenty of natural light
- Hardwood floors throughout first and second floors (they are 100 years old so they do squeek in some places!)
- Original built-in woodwork
- Classic front porch and backyard patio
- Flower and vegetable gardens
- Updated kitchen with newer appliances
- Large capacity washer and dryer
- Updated electrical and WiFi Internet

We really enjoy traveling. Our home features artwork and traditional crafts collected from our travels.

I have grown children who sometimes live at the house (when not off traveling - which is quite often!) We are all quite active and busy with work, school and other activities, so we are gone quite a bit. We do enjoy meeting people and chatting with guests when the occasion presents itself.

*******
There is lots to do in the area! We are happy to suggest activities you might enjoy during your stay.

Some of my favorite places within walking distance include: Lake of the Isles, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Walker Art Center, the Jungle Theater, Spyhouse Coffee Shop, French Meadow Bakery & Cafe, the Wedge Co-op.

There are a variety of wonderful ethnic restaurants within walking distance: Vietnamese, Chinese, German, Indian, Mexican, Greek, and more.

For those that prefer to explore the area by bike, we are located near a Nice Ride bicycle rental station, with easy access to bike paths and bike boulevards.

I am happy to make recommendations of things to do that match your interests and budget. Take a free sailboat ride on Lake Calhoun during the summer! Minnesota has a great Renaissance Festival in the fall. Ice skating at the historic Depot in downtown is charming any time of the year!

I hope you enjoy your stay and visit to Minneapolis!

Interaction with guests

We are quite friendly and do enjoy meeting people and chatting with guests when the occasion presents itself. We live an active lifestyle so we are out and about quite a bit. We are almost always available by phone/text/email should you need to reach us any time during your stay.

We respect our guests desire for interaction and/or need for privacy - often guests who are in town for a conference just want to relax quietly in their room after a long day.

Great place to stay! Awesome location with easy access to public transportation - a few bus stops for different lines within 2-7 blocks of the house. Day pass for bus and train is less than $5. Ubers everywhere. House is secured with keypad which makes checking in so easy! Tracy was amazing and as social or uninvolved as I needed her to be. Had a couple opportunities to hang around and talk and she was very gracious. Couple other times we crossed paths but my schedule was less flexible and she just said hello and I was on my way. Bed was very comfortable, clean room, iron/ironing board waiting for you in closet. Some extra amenities in the bathroom too. Great host and great house. Highly recommend.

Tracy's place was like a home away from home. What a great location and an amazing host!

Very comfortable space in walking distance of the Walker Art Museum and downtown. Nice quiet neighborhood. As described, the house is older and the wood floors creak. If you're a light sleeper, this might not be the best fit unless you bring earplugs. Though my conference kept me busy and I was not at "home" much, the host is very personable when our paths crossed. I enjoyed my stay here.

Although I did not have a chance to meet Tracy (I was on a tight schedule to do as much sightseeing as possible in Minneapolis), everything else went perfectly. Very nice room in a quite neighborhood. There is also breads and milks available for breakfast (if I had knew that before, I would not even bother to pack my own breakfast).

Tracy User ProfileTracy is a superhost.

I have lived in South America, Mexico and France and enjoy traveling - especially to places off-the-beaten path that allow me to truly experience the local culture. I live an active lifestyle and enjoy playing tennis, hiking, walking, and dancing (especially tango, swing and salsa). I try to spend as much time as possible outside (especially in the summer, although I'm trying to learn to enjoy winter weather since I do live in MN).

I have three grown children. My youngest son, age 20, still lives at home in his basement apartment while attending college nearby. The other two live out of town and visit occasionally. We are quite active and are often out-and-about. We enjoy meeting our guests when it works out (truly...Airbnb travelers are awesome!) and we encourage our guests to make themselves at home while they are staying with us.
