Our historic 3-story home preserves the quality turn-of-the-century craftsmanship, while offering modern conveniences and comfort:

- Classic front porch and backyard patio
- Flower and vegetable gardens
- Updated kitchen with newer appliances
- Large capacity washer and dryer
- Updated electrical and WiFi Internet
We really enjoy traveling. Our home features artwork and traditional crafts collected from our travels.
I have grown children who sometimes live at the house (when not off traveling - which is quite often!) We are all quite active and busy with work, school and other activities, so we are gone quite a bit. We do enjoy meeting people and chatting with guests when the occasion presents itself.
We have one dog, Lolita, a small cocker spaniel that is pretty calm in her old age.
There is lots to do in the area! We are happy to suggest activities you might enjoy during your stay.
Some of my favorite places within walking distance include: Lake of the Isles, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Walker Art Center, the Jungle Theater, Spyhouse Coffee Shop, French Meadow Bakery & Cafe, the Wedge Co-op.
There are a variety of wonderful ethnic restaurants within walking distance: Vietnamese, Chinese, German, Indian, Mexican, Greek, and more.
For those that prefer to explore the area by bike, we are located near a Nice Ride bicycle rental station, with easy access to bike paths and bike boulevards.
I am happy to make recommendations of things to do that match your interests and budget. Take a free sailboat ride on Lake Calhoun during the summer! Minnesota has a great Renaissance Festival in the fall. Ice skating at the historic Depot in downtown is charming any time of the year!
I hope you enjoy your stay and visit to Minneapolis!
Interaction with Guests
We are quite friendly and do enjoy meeting people and chatting with guests when the occasion presents itself. We live an active lifestyle so we are out and about quite a bit - of course, we are almost always available by phone.
We respect our guests desire for interaction and/or need for privacy - often guests who are in town for a conference just want to relax quietly in their room after a long day.
When you send a booking request, please include some info about yourself and why you are coming to Minneapolis.
The main house rule... courteous behavior and a positive attitude are appreciated.
We are pretty laid back and flexible, that said, we would appreciate the following:
If you use the kitchen to prepare meals, please put your dishes in the dishwasher and clean up after yourself. Generally, leave the space in the same condition in which you found it.
While you are welcome to use the public areas (living room, dining room, etc) and friends may meet you at the house, it is our home so please do not share the front door code with others or invite other people to spend the night without prior authorization from the host (this was only been an issue once). There are many cafes, bars, museums and other places to meet nearby.
Thank you for not smoking inside the house.
The area is great, nice places to drink / eat, and a couple of nearby groceries to get organic food.
My experience was good. I had a hard time finding the street, but that's my fault, not the host's. The room is big (for me!), the bed comfortable & the host friendly (I only saw them really the day I arrived).
The room has no AC & it was warm for some of the nights, but not unbearable (obviously this is only a concern in high summer); the fan really helped.
My stay was great. I'd stay again & would recommend the grand house to others needing to stay near downtown.
I enjoyed my stay at Tracy's place. The accommodations were entirely satisfactory, and she and her family were helpful and personable. The neighborhood is quiet, pleasant and close to downtown.
Tracy is a fantastic host and I have enjoyed our conversations very much. I strongly recommend Grand House to everyone who wishes to enjoy Minneapolis while feeling at home with Tracy and her family.
I had a great time in Minneapolis staying at Tracy's house. The room is as it appears on pictures and is very close to everything. I recommend this place.
It had a great time staying at this lovely house. Tracy and her children are very welcoming and easy-going. Tracy sent me information ahead of my stay, and communicating with her was very easy.
The room was comfortable and quiet, with lots of storage and space for clothes. Fridge was filled with delicious things for breakfast.
I would also recommend the area. It's a quiet street, close to lively areas with lots of restaurants and cafes, and you can walk to the Walker or MIA museums. There are several bike rental stations nearby, so I cycled around the lakes (also not too far from the house).
Would stay again :-)
Thanks Tracy! I am sorry it didn't work. Maybe next time

About the Host, Tracy
I have lived in South America, Mexico and France and enjoy traveling, especially to places off-the-beaten path. I like to live an active lifestyle and enjoy walking, dancing and playing tennis. I try to spend as much time as possible outside during the summer! I work at a nonprofit organization where I get to put my values to work every day.
I have three grown children, but only one still lives at the house full-time. He is pretty quiet and helpful. My daughter is also living at the house through July 2015 - then she will be off to study in Europe. My other son lives out-state at college. We are all quite active and often out-and-about or off traveling and having adventures - so feel free to inquire who or how many of us will be at home during your stay with us at the Grand House.
