My husband and I were only here for one night but our experience was wonderful. They were very welcoming and our room was spacious, clean, and comfy. Even though all the rooms were rented, we never had any trouble accessing the restroom or kitchen. 5 star hotel compared to the average hostel, keep up the great work!
Everything was just as Shane had described. It was very convenient and a nice place to rest between trips to the many great spots around Naalehu. Definitely stay for breakfast!!!
When I checked in to the hostel, I did not know that it was the building down the street. I expected to stay in the inn pictured. The hostel ended up being fine, though low on dishes. We were given the opportunity to upgrade to an open suite which we did, and were very happy with. It had a private shower and toilet and had two rooms (bedroom and living room). Shane and his wife were more than accomodating and showed us the laundry on site (which is $4 per load, cash; I don't think the listing says that you have to pay for laundry, so something to note).
Shane was a great host. He welcomed us by questioning us on our trip, giving us tips on the best spots to do around the island. He is welcoming, kind and easy-going.
The room is huge and really comfortable, quiet, you have everything here to make your stay a great experience.
We only stayed one night there, but I wish we stayed more to enjoy this southernmost town in USA and the place Shane offered us.
Try the 5$ breakfast, it is amazing and freshly cooked with local products, you won't be disappointed !
I really liked Shane's place. Our room was great and we hope to go back some time. It was ideal after a day at the volcano.
Very friendly hosts that were helpful and acomodating and provided an amazing breakfast! Accomdation was very spacious and clean with all the necessities (and a huge bathroom!) we really liked the village- a lot more there than we had expected based on guidebook reviews! Gutted we only had one night there!
