Where you’ll be

Belvedere Tiburon, California, United States

Enjoy spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, and Sausalito as you walk or bike along the edge of Richardson Bay on the Tiburon Peninsula Path.

The neighborhood is very peaceful, convenient and friendly. Perched on Harbor Hill, the spot is just up the road from the Belvedere-Tiburon Library.

Love hiking? Enjoy million dollar views while hiking over the grassy slopes of Old St. Hilary’s Open Space Preserve. Or head over to Mt. Tamalpais with its many hiking trails.

Love road or mountain biking? Cycle on the scenic Tiburon bike path and circle around the Peninsula on the Paradise Drive Loop. The biking trails on Mount Tam, the birthplace of mountain biking, offer nearly endless route options and varied terrain. Bring your bikes or rent nearby.

Bird-watching? Check out the birds on Richardson Bay, where more than 1 million migratory birds, including great blue herons, snowy egrets and red-tailed hawks, pass each year. The Richardson Bay Audubon Center and Sanctuary offers bird walks and learning programs.

Water sports?
On Friday evenings from April to September, you can watch the Friday Night Races held by the Corinthian Yacht Club and the St. Francis Yacht Club. Or rent kayaks in Sausalito and paddle around Richardson Bay.

History buff? Take a self-guided walking tour of historic Tiburon, with landmarks dating from the 1880s, including famous "Ark Row," where the buildings are original houseboats from the 1890's.

Angel Island State Park overs many historic sites, along with spectacular views from hiking and biking trails. A military camp during the Civil War, Angel Island became the Ellis Island of the West during the early 20th century as immigrants pass through its U.S. Immigration Station.

Railroad fan? Tiburon was a bustling railroad town from the late 1880s until the 1930s. Visit the Railroad Depot Museum to learn about Tiburon's rich railroad history.

Geology, archaeology, or botany buff? Love rock climbing? Ring Mountain offers serpentine outcroppings, Native American petroglyphs, and rare wild plants, including the endemic Tiburon Mariposa Lily, found nowhere else on earth.

Everybody loves Friday Nights On Main
On the last Friday of the month from May through September, Tiburon throws a party on Main Street. The street is closed to traffic, and local restaurants set up tables and food booths along the street. You can wine and dine al fresco while live bands play music.

I'm a native Californian from the San Francisco Bay Area, USA. I'm a writer and oral historian with a love of digging through the past like an archaeologist. I love to travel, especially to explore La Bella Italia and also to visit indigenous tribes to learn about their arts and crafts, but I am also happy to come home after visiting far off places, especially when I see the international orange on the spans of the Golden Gate Bridge. I'm also a fiber artist and like working with textures. I am so grateful to live in the Bay Area. The San Francisco Bay Area is like nowhere else in the world!
