very peaceful neighborhood, dead end street, wake up to the sounds of nature, enjoy a walk in the big garden and swim in the nearby rivers....
the popular canopy Zipline tour is a 5 min walk from our house.
we recommend car rental as most convenient and independent transportation. You can also rent 4x4 quads in town or take taxis (ca. 6$ one way from town) If you like walking it's about 20 min to/from town.
no smoking inside the room please
I loved staying in Dagmar's place. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we passed through Montezuma for a couple of nights. It felt like a little sanctuary on the mountain, in a tropical garden with banana trees and guanabana trees, with the smell of tropical flowers... The sounds of the animals/birds waking at sunrise was magical.. Howler monkeys and all kinds of birds. Absolutely deliscious. I loved the open shower (and no worries with the open air toilet.. No one can see you, and there is a curtain if you prefer). We were close enough to the town, but nice to be out of it.
Dagmar was great at communicating to make sure we meet up and find the place easily. It is up in the mountain, so unless you don't mind walking in the heat up a steep mountain road, best to have a mode of transport. She filled us in on yoga classes, waterfalls, beaches.
I highly recommend this space as I found it super sweet. Super sweet people, felt very touched to meet Dagmar and her sweetie, and get a feeling of how people live locally. I would definitely do it again.
Casa Maroc is an absolute dream. The design is so beautiful that it somehow becomes an oasis in an already stunning oasis that is Montezuma. Dagmar was extremely welcoming and had great suggestions for daily excursions. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.
Dagmar's rooftop room is absolutely gorgeous. As the pictures show, it is light, airy, clean, and relaxing. Dagmar was a wonderful host, offering advice on local restaurants, and helping us book taxis and transportation rentals. I would highly recommend her space to anyone staying in Montezuma.
Amazing doesn't even begin to describe this place! Just the build quality of the house goes far beyond any other house we've seen in Costa Rica.
Dagmar and her boyfriend are so friendly and hospitable, they made us delicious breakfast and Dagmar always offered us a lift when she went into town or back.
The bed is wonderful and we easily had the best sleep on our trip so far here. I know I'm probably repeating what everyone else here are also saying, so let me just say that I give it my highest recommendation and will surely stay here again.
If you are used to hiking and walking up stairs or steep hills, you'll have no trouble reaching her place on foot in about 20-30 minutes from Montezuma, otherwise a taxi from town will set you back around 3000 colones, at night you will need a flashlight as the roads are unlit but for the stars that you can look upon from the tiled roof of this truly special gem.
Beautiful location, extremely friendly support. Dagmar and the family were very approachable easy going. Make sure to have a way to get down to the beach, it's just outside walking distance. The rental car we brought did just fine. We arrived at night and had a tough time finding it, but other than that it was such a beautiful and relaxing stay! Would stay again with no hesitation. It's one of the prettiest locations we have been to yet!
We enjoyed Dagmar's great little rooftop nest. Daniel is a master designer/ builder, lots of nice details. We had our morning tea out on the roof with the morning birds. When you come up the hill from the beach the temperature at the house is about 10 degrees (F.) cooler, which is very welcome on a hot day. The view from the bed through the three open able glass walls is tropical jungle busy with different birds depending on the time of day. The toilet/ shower is placed so you are outside looking over the gardens and jungle but don't worry, you won't be exposed to anyone other than the local wildlife.
Dagmar's space is incredible. The house is nestled around a beautiful garden and the bedroom is atop a morrocan style home with much privacy. with windows on each wall you feel like you are outside. All the details were lovely. Dagmar and her partner Daniel could not have been more gracious hosts. I was able to take a yoga class with Dagmar and if you have the chance to do so she is a fantastic teacher. The smoothies were excellent and this was a highlight of the trip.
