Located in the heart of beautiful Sonoma Valley, our gated 2 acre home site includes a barn that has a wonderful, private 1 bedroom, 1 bath and great room apartment above the winery. The "barn" is constructed with large timbers connected by mortise and tenons with pegs, a feature of most early American barns. It has a spacious covered porch with a big table and wicker chairs overlooking the field across the winter creek. You'll enjoy the quiet, the views of horses, and rolling hills and vineyards. I lived in the barn for three years, while we were building the new house. I just loved the tree house feeling of the space!
The bedroom overlooks the expansive lawn leading to the tree lined creek. The bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, and ample closet space. The gracious high ceiling living room offers a queen sleeper in the seating arrangement.
This delicious space is located over our home winery. I hope you'll enjoy seeing our climate controlled barrel room and our covered crush pad. Please enjoy a complimentary bottle of our wine upon your arrival (and of course more if you like!!), along with fresh fruit, muffins, granola, milk, butter, tea and coffee and ...which you can brew. We hope your visit will be one you will always remember, and that you will return!
Sonoma's Valley of the Moon is well known and enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world. Nearby are 10,000 acres of majestic park land with trails for hiking and biking.
Kenwood is a small (pop. 1,200) pastoral wine country village. We are within walking distance of exceptional restaurants and wineries, and well...just walks. Anywhere you walk is beautiful, and our streets have little traffic.
Our property has much native American History. It is located between where the Wappo tribe located their village, and their ceremonial site! We have found many artifacts here.
You can relax and enjoy the tranquil peaceful, park-like natural setting, or you can visit our well known Kenwood and Glen Ellen attractions. We look forward to hosting you!
Please feel free to wander around our 2 acres. There are three gates that will let you get down to the creek. Our patio is available for you if you want. FYI if you are looking for a dog friendly listing, please find ours at Red Barn Cottage!!
Interaction with Guests
We love meeting new people, and as such we are happy to interact with our guests as much as they like. If you would like to join us for a tasting of our wines, have a tour through our barrel room and crush pad...let me know. We realize that some people want to be alone, or have so little time they have not the time to visit with us. However if you do...please let me know. I try to read minds, but I am not always very good at it!!
FYI...it is so quiet here many of our guests have complained that they over slept! That said we are just 1/2 mile off the main highway through the valley so we a gated very private property, yet close to everything!!
We are happy to give you directions, answer any questions, help you plan your activities, make reservations, suggest a tour or anything else you may need! There are taxis here, and Uber.

Catherine was a great host! The place is really cute and charming, with beautiful views. It feels quiet and private but is actually really close to the main highway, so you can get to all the local attractions very easily. Great hikes and restaurants near by. My family and I had a great time! Thanks Catherine!
Catherine was very kind and thoughtful; she had a lot of tips of different places to visit, and her property was beautiful. I was very happy staying there and would recommend it to anyone.
We had a wonderful quiet weekend in Kenwood and the Red Barn was awesome! Catherine is a sweet heart and gave us some delicious wine and treats for breakfast. The Barn is close to great wineries and perfect for bbqing, reading and relaxation. Thank you Catherine!
Gracious hosts, warm and welcoming! Spacious living room, open kitchen with island perfect for cooking. Romantic views of horses and vineyards. The perfect love nest!
Red Barn Cellars is really a beautiful place. The barn is finished to an amazingly high standard, and the setting is wonderful - it's close to all amenities but is in an idyllic and quiet spot, with amazing views and fabulous peace and quiet. Catherine was a super friendly and helpful host - she gave us some of her wonderful wine to drink and made sure that we had everything we needed to be comfortable. I would highly recommend Catherine's place for a get away in wine country - it's a wonderful experience.
Catherine is great. Such a warm welcome, with wine from her vineyard, cookies and a lovely chat.
The property is lovely and a great location near Kenwood. We would go back in an instant!
This was an amazing AirBnB experience. My wife, 3 year old son, infant daughter, and I all stayed at Catherine's lovely "Big Red Barn" for our 5 year wedding anniversary weekend and it could not have been better. Catherine was an incredibly gracious host, taking plenty of time with us when we arrived to make sure we knew all of what Kenwood and the surrounding areas had to offer.
The property was a perfect quiet getaway, with lovely grounds to explore and plenty of amenities. Highly recommended for anyone who loves wine country but wants to stay off the beaten path and get away from the more touristy areas.
