The Space

Rent this cute home in lovely San Carlos. There are 3 bedrooms (King bed in Master, Queen bed in guest room and a twin bed in office) that can sleep up to 5 along with 2 full bathrooms.

The kitchen is fully equipped and the formal dining room can seat eight. The newly remodeled master bath has marble countertops and a large glass enclosed shower. The guest bath is large and has a full sized bath tub and shower. The house is furnished with antiques and there are hardwood floors throughout. Wifi and digital cable are included as are all utilities. Other ammenities include a washer/dryer, iron/ironing board and hair dryers in each of the bathrooms. There is also a new 50" HDTV and BluRay player in the living room.

The garden in the back includes a huge redwood and other mature trees along with lots of colorful flowers. There is a one-car garage and plentiful street parking. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and surrounded by other single family homes.

It is a 15-20 minute drive to Palo Alto/Stanford and a 30-40 minute drive to San Francisco, 3 miles to Oracle and about a mile to Cal Train. The house is walking distance to Laurel street and downtown San Carlos. Burton Park has a great playground and is three blocks away. It's also a short drive to great hiking trails and Filoli historic estate and gardens.

Unfortunately, there are no pets and no smoking in the house. The maximum number of guests is 5 people, including children.

When requesting this property, please provide a brief description of your group, the number of people traveling and a little about yourself. I like to make sure that this is a great fit for all my guests. Thank you!

  • Beautiful home, Catherine was wonderfully welcoming and we had an amazing time around the table for 8 catching up with family and friends in the area. Picked a ripe lemon up in the back yard, loved the beautiful flowers and plants - both inside and out! Close to major streets and the 101. Would love to stay there again if back in the area. Thanks, Catherine!

  • This place is great! My classmates and I stayed here while up at school and we utilized the backyard a lot! There are all the cooking utensils you will need in a kitchen and it's extremely close
to restaurants, hiking, and the 101. It was really hot the days we were there and Catherine even offered to drop off a fan!

  • We stayed in Catherine's home for a week in March. The home was as described. Fantastic! Our family of 6 had plenty of room and the kids loved the huge backyard with plenty of room to play and tree climb. Catherine was a great host and I would stay in this home again. It was great to be so close to some great restaurants and quaint shopping.

    Response from Catherine:

Tom, thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad the house worked so well for your family. I just wanted to note to future guests that the maximum number of people in the house is 5 though I made an exception as the additional person was Tom's little 9-month old baby. Thanks again, Tom for taking such good care of the house!

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at Catherine's home. It is the perfect pace for a stay in the Bay Area. The home is comfortable, safe, quiet, close to shopping and to a great park for the kids. My family of 4 was very relaxed in her home and the back yard was a great place for the kids to play and for me to catch some sun. Catherine was very easy to work with, her home is very neat and clean, and the beds were all comfortable too. We had a terrific stay and hope to return again next year.

  • My colleague and I stayed in Catherine's place for 4 nights while we were working onsite with clients. It was great to come 'home' each night to Catherine's lovely place. Being able to cook in a real kitchen, pick lemons from the backyard tree, watch TV in a real living room, and overall NOT be in a hotel was SO nice. Catherine's place is close to many great restaurants on Laurel and just a short jaunt to the 101 freeway. Great homebase for exploring the entire Bay Area. Catherine was easy to work with, and communication was very prompt. We were unsure about the length of our stay, and she was very understanding when we needed an extra night at the 11th hour. She even offered to come and take out the trash for us since we seemed to be working such long hours. What service! Highly recommend staying here.

  • Catherine's house is very neat, clean and very comfortable. We had great time to reside in her place for 21 days.

  • Catherine provided warm hospitality and a wonderful home to spend a few days while my fiancee and I were visiting family and friends in the Bay Area. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms was perfect for the four in my group. Although we spent a majority of our visit away from the house, the amenities -- such as the living room and backyard -- were definitely nice features that we wish we could have utilized (perhaps our next visit!). The neighborhood is nice and quiet, and highly accessible to main roads to get to other destinations in the area. My family and I would most definitely seek to stay at Catherine's home again on our next trip to the Bay Area. I also highly recommend Catherine's home to anyone seeking a place to stay while out west.

  • There are quite a few advantages to this place:

    1. Located very close to El Camino Real and 101 highway. Very easy commute either towards SF (around 40 mins drive in normal traffic) or towards Palo Alto / San Jose, etc.
    2. The neighborhood is very quite and nice.
    3. The place is surprisingly spacious and has everything you need: 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, a living room with 2 unfolding sofas, great kitchen!!, and washer dryer in the garage.
    4. The backyard is absolutely beautiful with a lemon tree, a small table outside, lots of pleasant shadeю

So overall - you will enjoy staying there if that fits you budget.

We did not get to meet Catherine in person due to very late arrival and very early departure, but she has been very very supportive in helping us figure out various aspects of staying at her place.

    Response from Catherine:

Thank you Alex for your kind words. I did want to clarify #3 in the review - there are not two fold-out couches in the living room. There is one but it is quite uncomfortable and shouldn’t be considered for use even for a small child.

  • My colleague and I rented this house while we were in the Bay Area for work. I can't say enough great things about the accommodations. It was wonderful to come "home" at the end of the work day and relax on the back porch. The whole house is warm and inviting and the kitchen has everything you need. Bedrooms are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are lovely. Catherine is a great host and was there waiting for us when we got there after our long flights. I would highly recommend this home for professionals looking for an alternative to hotel or people on vacation. The location is extremely convenient as it takes just a couple minutes to get to the 101. We loved the 7 minute drive to the office. And the neighborhood is great also.
