What a great find! Laura and Paola were fantastic hosts, very responsive and helpful with local tips and recommendations. The apartment was a great size for our group (two couples). We each had our own bathroom which was a lovely luxury. The apartment was in a great location too and very quiet. Just to note - It may not be obvious by the photos but the bedrooms and one bathroom are downstairs. There is no clothes dryer either but we used airers on the balcony and had no problem plus were given details of a local laundromat if needed. All in all, a fabulous experience! We'll be back :)
Thank you Laura and Paula for cleaning, organization and quality of the apartment, which is very complete. Everything worked fine, great washing machine and the balcony was excellent for drying the clothes. They provided a cot for my baby with extremely clean linens. The check-in and checkout was very simple. The location of the apartment is also very good. Is ideal for families and I would certainly recommend to my friends.
This is a beautiful place in an area that is close enough to all tourist attractions but not too close. The house is well appointed and the building is quiet and relaxing. It served as a haven from the bustling streets. There are nice Cafes and a market nearby. The host sisters were punctual and helpful and there were no complications with our stay. I look forward to returning.
This apartment is located on the edge of tourist area, but was quite well appointed and connected to transportation links. I would whole-heartedly recommend you give it a try. It is about 3 buildings from the east end of Via Ghibellina and the apartment opens on an interior courtyard so there is little street noise. It is a short walk to two supermarkets, Conad [Via Pietrapiana 42, a location which you might walk past on your way home from the Duomo] and, Coop [Via Cimabue 47r], of which I preferred the latter having a larger selection and self service check outs with an English computer interface. It is also close to the Route 14 Ataf bus stops. This route is a high frequency route and very handy, in that it runs within 1 block of Il Duomo [stop PUCCI], 1 block of the Gallery of the Academy [stop MUSEO DE SAN MARCO], and also stops at the Santa Maria Novella train station.
The hosts, Laura and her sister Paola were wonderful [and I am not one to lavish needless praise]. They were waiting for us at the apartment at the agreed time when we arrived, and gave us a good familiarization tour. They were also available for us by phone for more urgent matters and by email for minor matters. On our first day, I let them know by email that there was no corkscrew in the apartment, [a minor matter] but one of them was by in a few hours to drop one off. This was great service, but unnecessary as I picked one up while shopping and I was just letting them know I and not taken the one from the apartment. Similarly, as we were planning to leave at 5 in the morning on new year’s day, and were trying to book a taxi on the prior afternoon, our hosts came to our aid and called 2 taxi companies, 4 limousine companies and the airport, in a process through which we determined that none of these agencies would accept a booking for the very early hours of new year’s day. As a last ditch effort, they told us to call them if we could not get a cab then next morning. One of the hosts suggested that we might get her boyfriend to squeeze us into his car and get us to the airport. The bus system was not starting early enough to get to the station for the airport shuttle. Happily, we did not need to rely on the host’s boyfriend as we were able to hail a cab on the major street to the eastwithin minutes of leaving the apartment. The fact of the offer of using the boyfriend to help us get to our flight was above and beyond the call of duty. So you can see why I recommend this apartment and its hosts without any reservation.
