About this listing

Bed and breakfast at our farmhouse is over 200 years old. We are in a quiet spot yet nestled between Aberporth on the coast and Cardigan with all the amenities. A great location for walking the coastal path or visiting some of the best beaches in West Wales.

The space

The house is on a quiet 8 acre small holding near the beautiful coastline of West Wales. 3 miles to Cardigan and about a 40 minute drive to the Ferry to Ireland at Fishguard. Cardigan has a Aldi, a Tesco, and Co-op supermarket A few miles to 6 beautiful sand beaches, two that are National Trust. Our local beach is Mwnt, listed as No. 1 in the Daily Mail's list in the Top Ten: Europe's Secret Beaches. You can easily walk to the Ceredigion Coastal Path. There is a small bedroom with 2 single beds, another small one with a double bed, and a larger one with a King Size bed. Two bathrooms (one for exclusive use by guests) and a shower in an outbuilding if you hate baths and want an invigorating experience. We have our own eggs if you like a big breakfast. If we are able, we will cook you breakfast or we will supply the breakfast goodies and you can prepare your own breakfast at a time that suits you.

It is a 15 minute walk to the local bus stops if you are using public transport. In the summer and selected days in the winter there is the Cardi Bach, a small bus that serves the Coastal Path so you only need to walk one way. The Cardi Bach bus stop in Felinwynt is close to our drive. Closest train stations are Carmarthen or Aberystwyth. If you come by bus, happy to pick you up in Cardigan. If you like to cycle, we usually have a bike you can borrow. Plenty of good places to eat nearby and if you are on a tight budget you can cook in the kitchen. In season you can see what vegetables we have in the garden.

If the dates you want are booked, contact us we may have another bedroom available.

One of the most popular trips in Cardigan is a boat trip called Bay to Remember-On most trips you will see dolphins, seals and plenty of bird life.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and the washing machine and dryer. Guests are also encouraged to make themselves at home.

Interaction with guests

We are usually around. We lead quite busy lives with work. Sometimes we are able to cook breakfast if you like but sometimes we will ask you to help yourselves.

Other things to note

Unfortunately we do not allow pets.

I had a lovely, comfortable stay at Alex and Renie's beautiful farm, it's a stunning location and they both made me feel very welcome. I was attending a course nearby and so was quite busy, I would have loved to have more time to look around, I did get to spend a few hours at their local beach Mwnt which was very pleasant.

My only regret in staying with Alex and Renie is that I couldn't stay longer. They are so friendly and always went above & beyond to make my stay pleasant. I felt like I were staying with my own parents rather than with people I had just met. The property is adorable, both inside as well as around the grounds, and the local area is stunning. It's off the beaten path enough that it is still pristine and quaint and genuine, and Alex and Renie do such an amazing job as hosts that anything lacking in a typical rural setting is easily made up for. I hope I can return one day, preferably sooner rather than later!

A fabulous country location for a peaceful stay in West Wales near the Coastal Path. Alex and Renie are very welcoming, and a font of information about the coastal walks and the surrounding area. The farmhouse is in a remote location, surrounded by traditional outbuildings and garden, but with all modern amenities that one could wish for.

Alex and Renie are very kind people, so as their family. I like the style of the bathroom with the green , kitchen is handy to use that makes me catering myself . It's nice walk around the countryside and the town is lovely . Anyway , it's a great time to chill and away from the cities's hustle . I'm a students traveling alone , bus is little difficult to manage but nice just being around . Alex and Renie is very kind to offer me lift to town .

I absolutely loved my stay with Alex and Renie! They were so kind and helpful and made me feel like part of the family from the moment I arrived. They are wonderful people and live in a beautiful spot. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and happily recommend their home to others. Thank you both for everything! Many blessings, Anna

Alex & Renie User ProfileAlex & Renie is a superhost.

After almost all the children left home (we have 9 of them) we wanted to share our home with others. Sometimes they come back so it can be a busy household at times. Originally from the USA, we have been in Britain since 1980. When our youngest was born with a disability, our life direction changed. We moved to Wales in 1997. I love my work at a charity for disabled children. We also are involved in disabled skiing.

We have met so many interesting and lovely people through hosting with airbnb. It has been good fun and a good excuse to keep the house tidy. Also the funds have helped us convert an old stone cow barn into a beautiful holiday let. We just finished it in September 2014 We like walking and cycling and exploring all the beautiful parts of the UK.
