We had a perfect time. The place is secluded, comfortable, beautifully appointed. We will be back.
We were so thrilled to arrive at Mina's retreat! What a wonderful way to escape for a few days. Not only were we greeted with fresh fruit, a bottle of wine and music playing - but the house was really warm and inviting as well.
We spent hour after hour after hour on the couch in the cozy living room in front of the fire - and the kitchen had everything that we needed in order to make our home cooked meals.
The only draw back was that the sun room, while having a door, does have an open window/pass thru to the living room. This meant that our daughter was unable to sleep in there while we were enjoying the tv and fire at night. We quickly solved this issue by putting her to sleep in the bedroom and transferring her to the couch when we went to bed (it seemed warmer to keep her by the fire), but if you are looking for a TRUE 2 bedroom, this might be an issue.
We'd highly recommend our stay at Mina's and hope to return again in 2014!
Mina’s place is very welcoming (and she left us wine!) cozy and beautifully decorated. We loved zipping through the cable movies while on the comfy couch with the gas fireplace going. The deck would be great in warm weather. Little perks I would have enjoyed - readable measuring cups, measuring spoons, foil, a kitchen sink that doesn’t spray me, and better water pressure in shower. Also, a little discombobulating to find food in refrigerator, cupboards, clothes on bathroom door, in closet, etc… though Mina made sure to leave us lots of space. I like to pretend a place is mine when I’m on vacation and I found it a little hard to really relax knowing I’m sharing someone else’s personal space, (I’m new to Air B&B so maybe they’re all like that. What do I know?) instead of a strict vacation rental, but that’s just me. Also didn’t realize someone lives below. Not a problem at all, unless you’re like me, pretending you own the place. Note – Don’t go up first steps you see. Mina’s steps are past those and not obvious. Also, ceiling lights/fan controlled by remote, not wall switch.
This place was great! My girlfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and it was the perfect little getaway. Everything was nice and clean, and since it was quite cold when we stayed (in Nov) the propane stove was very cozy.
We couldn't get onto the wifi, and we didn't have any cell service either, but we didn't mind the forced separation.
This was a wonderful little cottage, perfect for my wife and out 3-year old daughter. Mina was kind enough to leave us a bottle of wine and trader joe's cranberry spritzer drink and some fresh fruit. We loved the place, and look forward to going back soon.
Mina was very responsive and timely with airbnb communications through the booking process, and offered me wine, fruit and juice for my arrival. It was great to meet her for the house orientation, and I appreciated her heating the place before my arrival too. Her place is lovely, true to the pictures, and felt very homey. I would rent this space again when looking for a cosy weekend away.
My wife, daughter and I stayed at this property after making a last minute reservation with Mina. She was very kind to accept our reservation with very little lead time. The home was clean and she had a welcoming bottle of wine for us. She also had music on to welcome us. It was a cozy space located among the redwoods. The weather was cool while we stayed there and we enjoyed the gas fireplace. We also were able to enjoy a cup of tea on the deck. Access to the home is by a very narrow, short, one way driveway that also serves several other homes. There is a turn around at the end of the access road, but parking is somewhat limited. The home is located about 2 miles outside of Guerneville and we were able to take advantage of easy access to Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve.
Mina was a lovely host, very communicative and friendly.
And the house is lively and quiet nestled just a song away from Guerneville and forestville perfect for seeing the Russian River and restaurants. Stay here is a pleasure!
