We had a wonderful time in Guerneville! Our host, Mina, welcomed us warmly. Her home is beautifully decorated and provided all of the necessities our family could wan to make us feel comfortable. It truly was a special getaway in the woods, and yet close to the river and to the town where we enjoyed the local coffee shop, as well as delicious dinners when we didn't feel like cooking at the house. She was available to answer our questions, but mostly we just relaxed an enjoyed the amazing atmosphere of this jewel by the Russian River!
Mina was very responsive and communicative from the get-go. She booked us on relatively short notice during the high season, which made life easier for my friends and I to enjoy a relaxing weekend. The cabin is cozy and warm, although it is darker in the living room than the photos let on. Overall though, the few of us guests who came were satisfied. The deck and outdoor space were where it's at; plenty of BBQ and firepit equipment, and lots of chairs for lounging. There was a bit of a snafu with plumbing, which Mina handled with grace and generosity, and which I'm sure is a rare occurrence. Odd fellows road is a short walk away (10-15 mins), and is a relatively undiscovered spot for hanging out by the beautiful river. Very convenient. The kitchen was good enough, if not slightly disorganized in terms of the cabinets. Again, if you desire a super light filled place, the front room is best for that, or the outdoor areas; I imagine the living room in the winter would be incredibly cozy.
Cute cozy cabin tucked away at the end of a private street. We enjoyed a quite night by the firepit. The cabin is a short drive to Korbel winery via Odd Fellows Rd, and the river. We stayed here 2 years in a row for Vineman triathlon and the location to the start can't be beat.
This was our second visit to Mina's lovely home, and we again had a wonderful experience. The setting is beautiful, and we absolutely loved hanging out on the front deck. Mina is a thoughtful and attentive host. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you, Mina!
Our host responded appropriately to informational requests.
-The size and 2 bedroom description was accurate.
-The outdoor deck was nice
We were staying with my infant daughter and found the floor to be dirty (not mopped or even vacuumed). I'm not sure what the cleaning fee goes to, but it did not appear to be cleaned well prior to our arrival. The fire pit had empty Chinese food containers in it as well.
Wasn't clear where we should put garbage bags once they were full.
WiFi was flaky (e.g. entered in the password 6 times via copy/paste and one out of 6 it worked). No Verizon cell reception made it bit hard to figure out where things were (even if you were looking for off-the-grid seclusion).
We stayed at Mike's for the weekend. The property is surrounded by trees, and bordered by a stream. The large deck is great for sitting out on and enjoying meals and stargazing. It's a short drive to downtown Guerniville, and there is river access within hiking distance. Mine was responsive and helpful add the apartment was clean and ready for our arrival.
We had a lovely stay at Mina's- there were 4 adults and 3 small children in our party and we did not feel cramped. The deck was lovely, and the place was situated in the redwoods- my 2-yr old kept talking about being 'in the forest,' and the kids were thrilled to see deer on the first morning. It was an easy, although not necessarily short (with three pairs of little legs), walk to the 'beach'- having grown up on the west coast of FL, a river beach was a little different than what I am used to, but it was really lovely and perfect for three small children, complete with minnows and ducklings. We would absolutely stay at Mina's again!
About the Host, Mina
I have lived and played in West Sonoma County for over 30 years. My two sons were raised in Guerneville along the creek bed; building dams; collecting rocks; riding their bicycles up and down the road.
I'm a retired social worker and continue to work with families and children.
I enjoy hiking; walking; theatre and sitting at the point where the River and Ocean meet.
I LOVE MEETING NEW PEOPLE!!!!
