From August 24th 2011 also Venice will enforce a new tourist tax for visitors:
The City of Venice will enforce a new tourist tax for visitors staying overnight, starting from August 24th (with no retrospective effect). The decision was taken by the City Council last June 23rd, when the new tax regulations were approved.
Tariffs will vary according to season (there will be two fares, one for low and on for high season), location (three areas have been identified: Venice old town, the islands and the mainland) and to the type of accommodation (hotels, bb, campsites, holiday village, etc). In fact, there is a series of tax reductions foreseen for accommodation facilities located on the islands in the Lagoon (30%) or on the mainland (40%) and during low season (up to 50%). Children aged between 10 and 16 will pay half the tax fare, whereas those under 10 will not be charged at all.
The tax goes to a maximum of 2,50€ to a minimum of 0,90€ per person for day until 5 day of stay.
Wonderful place, loved the apartment and it was very clean. We would definitely stay again!!
The reservation was canceled 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The apartment was BAD !!! There was not WATER, outside +37, how to take a shower?!!! They took 93 euro for cleaning, but infact there was duty and less light rooms - it's 400 euro per 2 days. Near by Hotels costs 200 euro per day with breakfast. It was my mistake((( The manager was stupid woman, she didn't speak English. When i said about pretencion, she answered:"We'll call the police, and then you'll leave the apartment, and i have no matter about your family". I asked about another apartment - aswer was "NO!". Hostage situations. Be сareful !!!
One of our best B&B experiences. Flat was in a quiet but central location, air-conditioning was a big plus during the heat wave! Serena met us at the bus site and walked us to our flat. The shower was about average for Venice so don't expect much, no pressure and less than 5 min of hot water! Bring your own matches or you won't be able to start the stove. This is the only time we have had to pay a fee up front ($85 EU and $16 tax) for "meet and greet".
I would stay here again!
The apartment has a good location and seems to be very typical of a Venice apartment. It's great for a Venice getaway. Read the fine print in the house rules--they ask for an 85 euro payment in cash when you get the keys as a "greeting and cleaning fee".
Good location, nice and spacious. Very basic, not fancy. More expensive than we anticipated; had to pay 97 euros cash upon arrival, which I wasn't expecting.
This apartment has an excellent location within a short walk of St Mark's square in one direction and the Academia in the other. Around the corner is a gondala park. The best feature of this apartment is the main bedroom from which you can hear opera singers practising and see a glimpse of a canal. The plumbing is in need of repair but I suspect plumbing is a major issue all over Venice.
