About this listing
For an authentic OJAI VISIT, feeling as though you live here, come enjoy our home. We open our home to you. No locks on the front door. If you even wondered how it feels to really live in the country here is your chance.
This room is lovely. Furnished in antiques. Cool. Air conditioned. Private bathroom. Share kitchen and living room and outside amenities. Private outdoor patio area. 3 Miles from midtown Ojai. 1 mile to hiking trail head. Local hot springs 15 minute drive away. Grocery 2 miles. There are dogs on premises so you can't be allergic, although they do not go into the room. No smoking inside house. Quiet property. Can easily sleep in very late. No need for early check out. Just by about 12:00 p.m. If no one else is arriving then it can be later. We can discuss this a day before your arrival if you are trying to plan around your departure.
The streets here are quiet and dark at night. I walk my dogs every night off leash if that gives you an idea. There is internet and cable. Our environment is very casual. We pick up behind ourselves but are not neat freaks. The room does not have a television with cable per say, but it does have a nice 32 inch monitor hooked up with all internet amenities and a nice sound system to lay back in bed and watch netflix or listen to pandora.
Recently we bought a "human touch" massage chair. Look up
(URL HIDDEN) This is the exact chair. You are going to love it! I had planned to put it in my own bedroom and then I realized how nice it would be for guests to enjoy so it is in the room with you.
We can leave you entirely alone or you can socialize with us. We love barbecue and tri-tip and watching movies on the big screen in the living room.
THIS IS IMPORTANT for DOG OWNERS: We have dogs. Several of them. They are our kids and they are their own pack. We have had guests with dogs several times successfully. However, I do request that you let me know about your dog before arriving. Sometimes personalities of dogs clash. I don't want any fights. Your dog needs to be up on vaccines including kennel cough. I often have very young puppies in the house that could get sick from another adult un-vaccinated dog. WE need to be smart. Also, if you are planning on leaving your dog in our house while going out there needs to be a discussion about compensation. I am not a boarding home. I love all animals and would happily walk and feed your dog, but I want to know ahead of time that this will be the case. If you have a male dog that lifts his leg to mark new territories like my house, please purchase a "belly band" before arrival. See this link: (URL HIDDEN)
Please don't just show up with a dog. Thanks for your consideration on this matter.
We are easy to talk too. Send a message through this system with your questions. I get them as text messages on my phone and will get back very promptly. Also, if you do book the room, for your own good, once booked you will have my phone number. I would love a call the day before letting me know your arrival time. Or, you can text me. But please make a connection with me the day before.
Thanks for your consideration of our room. We love our home and welcome you into it.
Guests have their own room, and bathroom and the kitchen too! We keep our dogs gated out of these areas. You can share in our living space too but the dogs will want to be near you then.
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy interaction with our guests. They come into our home and we so much enjoy knowing just a little something. I think some guests don't realize that we are exposing ourselves entirely by bringing them into our home. It feels more equal if we can get a feel for who is sleeping in our house.
It is peaceful here. NO street lights. We have a bed outside in the back yard where you can lie down and count starts while you drink your own wine or I can make you tea.
You need a car. But you can borrow a bicycle. We are 3 miles from town.
Other Things to Note
It is so safe here we don't have a front door key or lock. Taking walks late at night is a favorite around this neighborhood.
Please just treat us the way you would like to be treated if strangers entered your home. We are quite easy going. Respect the common area by picking up after yourself, mostly dishes in the kitchen.
